Video: Where’s my Congressman?
posted at 11:00 am on August 24, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Wondering why your Congressman didn’t hold town-hall meetings this August? Perhaps you heard that he or she is too busy with charitable work to talk with constituents, or a sudden family medical issue has come up. Heritage for America games out the responses in this amusing video, starring veteran character actor Clint Howard, that shows the brainstorming necessary to explain when incumbents attempt to avoid accountability:
After the midterms, that last line may become the new catchphrase on Capitol Hill: “Who’s the new guy?”

as long as the new guy ain’t like the old guy, we should be taking a step in the right direction.

Yikes! Is that the Smog Strangler?
LastRick on August 24, 2010 at 11:03 AM
Ron Howard is going to be pissed at his brother for doing this video.
WashJeff on August 24, 2010 at 11:04 AM
Damn YouTube! Interesting that Ron Howard is a flaming lefty, yet his brother Clint appears in this clip. I wonder if he won’t get cast in Opie’s movies anymore.
Doughboy on August 24, 2010 at 11:05 AM
Opie is not going to take too kindly to Clint’s role in this video.
pain train on August 24, 2010 at 11:05 AM
Wait … Ron “Libwit” Howard’s brother made a commercial for the Heritage Foundation?!
Jaibones on August 24, 2010 at 11:05 AM
Damn I need to learn to type faster!

We must drink. This is tranya. I hope you relish it as much as I.
Asher on August 24, 2010 at 11:06 AM
I was thinking the same thing.
Laura in Maryland on August 24, 2010 at 11:07 AM
That guy is Ron Howards brother.
Are these brothers divided by the Obama Administration?
portlandon on August 24, 2010 at 11:09 AM
Then again, this isn’t unprecedented(as Barry would say). Bob Beckel is a lefty, yet his brother Graham who’s an actor is conservative. Same with Alec and Stephen Baldwin.
Doughboy on August 24, 2010 at 11:09 AM
Lefty friends kept sending me that “Richie and the Fonz Love Obama ’cause he’s our only hope“ video Howard and Winkler made in 2008.

Well done. I think it will work. A little surprizing that Clint Howard did this. I thought he was a libtard like his brother. Who knew?
saiga on August 24, 2010 at 11:12 AM
I’m not familiar with the name, but I recognize the face. Nobody does “uncaring bureaucratic drone” like him.

Tranya and relish don’t mix. Try horseradish.

Pretty clear who got the brains in the family.
Love this video!

Clint Howard rocks!
DamnCat on August 24, 2010 at 11:14 AM
He was the kid in Gentle Ben with Dennis Weaver from the 1960s.
I’m smelling a tie-in with the Mama Grizzlies!
BuckeyeSam on August 24, 2010 at 11:15 AM
I love the new guy.
sammypants on August 24, 2010 at 11:15 AM
I’ve heard Clint Howard on Dennis Miller’s radio show a couple of times-I believe he hosted once. Guy seems to have his head screwed on straight.
Dr. Carlo Lombardi on August 24, 2010 at 11:16 AM
uhh… maybe the Congressman is on the AZ border smoking dope with the cartel?
SayNo2-O on August 24, 2010 at 11:17 AM
He’s been in a ton of Ron Howard films in small roles. He also appeared in the Austin Powers movies. He’s actually a pretty cool character actor. And his Lifetime Achievement Award at the MTV Movie Awards in the late 90′s was so well received(even though it was mostly intended as a joke) that they stopped handing it out for a while.
Doughboy on August 24, 2010 at 11:18 AM
As noted above, he’s the brother of Ron (Ronnie) Howard. Watch any Ron Howard film, and brother Clint invariably has a small role. He had a fairly prominent part in Apollo 13, for example. He even appeared in an episode of Seinfeld.
BuckeyeSam on August 24, 2010 at 11:18 AM
Tranya goes well with everything.

Heaven forbid that the truth be told.
Great video, hope it gets a lot of views.

Clint is a b-list actor but surprising he appeared in this clip. Was it money or political motivation for why he appeared in this commercial?
closetgop on August 24, 2010 at 11:21 AM
Terrific ad.
The Democrat clowns are more delusional than I thought possible, if they think avoiding town hall meetings will make the public forget about their raping of America.

Clint Howard is Ron’s brother? Huh, I’ll be.

I was wondering if C.H. was ‘one of ours’.
This video answers my question…sort of.

I agree with Slublog..Proving my old theory: No matter what you’re watching, there is at least a 15% chance Clint Howard is going to be on it [Slublog]

Note that Leon was always offering his OWN sandwich to others. If he were a lib, he’d take Opie’s sandwich, eat most of it himself and then “compassionately” split the 10% left among 5 other people.
mankai on August 24, 2010 at 11:45 AM
The very definition of cowardice is REFUDIATING the people’s will to pass devastating legislation and then refusing to be man enough to face your constituents after.
Oh well – the constituents will have the last word.

You could think of him as Mr. Hyde to my Jeckyll.

If Triple J has a townhall it will be: at night, on the far south side of Chicago, and packed with militant black liberals.
Amen corner anyone.

Yippers, that’d be him.

Not to mention the married couples who are “divided,” such as Mary Matalin & the Ragin’ Cajun.

Like mentioned before, Clint has been on and hosted the Dennis Miller show, and has been on Hugh Hewitt’s show several time over the years.
From what I take away from his appearances, he leans right, if I remember correctly.

With the people we have now we would be better off with a random lottery to choose leaders. At least they wouldn’t be organized enough to pass any of their crap.

Our president and Congressmen aren’t representive either, but they play the role on TV.
So what’s the difference?

BALOK from The Corbomite Maneuver! Yikes! Looking at the guy still always creeps me out a little. Good ad though.

I’ll be Maxine Watersv (Rev. Wright in drag) held some lively Town Halls.
Like something out of a “Sanford and Son” episode I’m sure.

That bit part on Star Trek was the last gig Clint Howard got without his brother’s help. A man’s gotta work.

There was a time when Ronnie and Clint Howard had the number 1 and number 2 rated shows on TV (Andy Griffith Show and Gentle Ben). The original Olsen twins.
Ted Torgerson on August 24, 2010 at 2:13 PM
I had a teammate in college (ahem, 30 years ago) who grew up and was best friends with Clint Howard. He would come out to our games several times per year. Actually, Opie’s little brother was a pretty normal guy.
SMB on August 24, 2010 at 2:40 PM
Anyone who listens to the Dennis Miller radio show. Clint filled in one day & has been a guest. Clint is a conservative, folks. His own words. Not a moderate, not a non-liberal, he is a conservative. Heard it with my own two ears.
Now you know why he made the vid. He’s “out” as a righty.
