Bloomberg deputy: C’mon, we all know Obama supports building the mosque near Ground Zero

posted at 3:01 pm on August 20, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Mark Halperin, a little Friday afternoon truth from ex-Clintonista Howard Wolfson. He’s right, of course, and everyone knows it, which is why it was so mystifying for The One to hedge last week on whether the mosque should be built after his paean to religious freedom at the Ramadan dinner. It looks pathetically weak and it won’t save him with anyone: Low-information voters who saw the clip from the dinner will simply conclude that he’s pro-mosque and high-information voters who noticed his hedge don’t believe that he’s hedging for any reason other than pure, cynical political expedience. I can understand why he does this in the gay marriage context because that’s a topic he takes pains to stay away from. But if you’re going to do the big base-pleasing speech in front of the cameras at the dinner, why on earth would you water it down afterwards? It loses you points with the left and earns you nothing with the right since both sides, a la Wolfson here, see it for the political gambit that it is. Baffling.

Obama isn’t now and never has been the political or intellectual genius he’s been made out to be. He shouldn’t have gotten involved in the debate to begin with and yet he did. He voluntarily ran into a wall. Don’t expect him to know how to fix it.

amerpundit on August 20, 2010 at 3:08 PM

Obama flips because he and/or Axlerod and Rahm think they’re really really smarter than the cattle out there in the boonies, and even if it would have been better to have never said anything in the first place, they have the media skills and support to spin the story back to their favor, and get at least half of the 70 percent opposed to the mosque back on Obama’s side.

They spun during the campaign and the media was able to pass that spin along to the swing voters, so naturally they think they can do it again, even though spinning with moderates is far easier when the person is an unknown quantity to them, as Obama was in 2008. Not so much when he’s got a 19-month record in office behind him.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE WILSON, Afghanistan — “May you have a blessed Ramadan,” reads a poster greeting U.S. troops outside a base mess tent.

So it has come to this. The U.S. Military is Islamic proselytizing U.S. troops. I doubt that it will take with many, but they are still doing it. Does the U.S Military post Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas and Yay Diwali posters on mess hall tents on U.S. bases in Afghanistan as well? Maybe, but as that would likely upset Afghan Muslims, I doubt it.

Peel away the bluster & he’s just a craven wuss. He always has lotsa ‘courage’ making a sanctimoniously unequivocal statement when pandering to an audience he knows will cheer his words, such at the Iftar dinner. But when asked to reiterate it for a wider audience which might not be as receptive, he wimped out & voted present just as he always does – much to his acolytes’ exasperation.

Blake on August 20, 2010 at 4:35 PM

People in present day are appalled and some even “shocked” and “surprised” to find who Obama actually is, but, some of us have seen the boob (perhaps, rather, the creep) for who he is all along…and one of the convincing, revealing moments about Obama was when he visited Ground Zero before the Election. McCain and wife visited, too. Obama visited, alone, wife claiming she had to be in Chicago for “the first week of school” while she was later revealed to be off on a campaign interview far from the City, no school in site, no children, just using the people once again, lying.

She didn’t attend, visit, Ground Zero, only Obama went and his little prancing show at that place, that should be solemn, didn’t go unnoticed.

Obama paraded down to the bottom of Ground Zero, and literally TOSSED a single flower into a pool of commemorative flowers, with just too much irreverance for any decent human being. To his credit, McCain (and wife) appeared dutiful, solemn, Obama was beside them with his head up, grinning, throwing that stem like it was refuse.

Then he paraded back up and used the walk to campaign for himself. I was thoroughly disgusted by the idiot on that day and every day since.

Lourdes on August 20, 2010 at 5:55 PM

Obama did say that Ground Zero was hallowed ground. He didn’t say to WHOM it was hallowed. Now we know–it is dedicated to the memory of those 10 Muslim hijackers who died there on 9/11.

As for the people who worked in WTC, and the cops and firemen who died trying to save them, as Kurt Vonnegut would say, so it goes. Thou shalt not offend the great Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) over a couple thousand dead infidels. And as Louis Farrakhan said, Barack Obama (pbuh) is the Messiah. Hallowed be his words.

It’s not the Messiah’s fault if 60% of the people of AmeriKKKa are bitter gun-clinging infidels who can’t accept someone different from themselves, and who haven’t been enlightened with tolerance of diversity in the land of religious freedom. They must be taught the meaning of Islam: submission.

OK, class, on your knees, and open your Koran to Sura number…

/sarc off

Tav on August 20, 2010 at 4:45 PM

Exactly. I’m likely not the only American who is through with all the sensitivity-to-Muslims thing. Enough, already.

If they can’t celebrate their own holidays by themselves but have to make sure that everyone else does, too, then, enough, already. Let them figure out how to have “Ramadam” on their own time, steam and resources. If anyone else doesn’t believe as they do, then leave them alone.

U.S. troops — and the American taxpayers — have spent far too much time trying to be “sensitive” to Muslims and it’s enough, already. Let THEM try to catch up for a change.

As I type this, millions of Muslims are floating around in flood waters, starving and whatever else and guess who is sending them millions of dollars in aid? The U.S. is, that’s who…

They won’t remember or value that, either, is my guess, they’ll just assume that our aid to them means we’re there to service them.

Yes, but, THAT chapel is used by “all faiths” for “services” (says the Pentagon Spokesguy). It’s not constructed as an independent structure but is part of the Pentagon for all to use, so it’s a different situation than a mosque constructed by YouKnowWho claiming it’ll “allow” “others” to “visit” and “use the facilities”…

I was wondering, as another O/T, though, if the Pentagon has built some Muslim-Foot-Washing room adjacent to the Chapel, because it seems Muslims are demanding those Washing Rooms be built FOR them nearly everywhere else.

What “they” mean by the Ground Zero mosque “community center” nonsense is that “other people” CAN use it IF they meet certain conditions.

It’s those “certain conditions” that are the cobra that, unfortunately, some people refuse to admit will harm them (and others) or, who know they/others will be harmed but they’re being paid certain monies that makes their betrayal worthwhile to them.

Bloomberg comes to mind here, as does Pelosi. And Obama.

I’d like people to see with their own eyes that there is no such thing as a mosque inside the Pentagon.
There is a room where employees can go and pray to whoever they want to pray to , for their own spiritual needs. But see how the AP titled that video, totally false and misleading. They even got some muslim from the Sindh region to mouth some words to promote their meme, idnoring the facts about that room.
A few days ago, there were bloggers and commentators running around yelling stuff like
” there is a mosque inside the Pentagon, whats wrong with having one @ G-0 ?”
Now , we know.

macncheez on August 20, 2010 at 6:47 PM

Ahh, thanks for that expanded information. I was wondering while reading a few other sites last night as to that noticable and peculiar meme (“there’s a mosque inside the Pentagon, you idiot!”).

I found it repeated on several disparate sites so recognized it as obvious “talking point” meme, but I wasn’t aware of anything surrounding what/why, until I saw your video (your link, Pentagon Spokesguy).

Demonstrative difference between “non-denominational chapel” or “room” to “mosque” — and I agree with you that the degree of lying and to what extremes used in lying by Muslims (as also our political Left, similar) is outrageous.

But it’s not uncommon. So it’s peculiar to me that Muslims continue this bombast, assuming, apparently, that no one among us “infidels” will even notice.

Unfortunately, the Left doesn’t notice or they notice and they don’t care or they agree with the lying for corrupt goals purposes.

Obama’s Friday night “Me So Muslim” speech from the Ramadama dinner was part of that: he seems to really believe his own lies, and theirs, and assumes that no one else will notice what they’re up to.

Muslim Community Center??? Has this GZ mosque been designed by a community organizer, er agitator?

Was that video clip a blatant showcasing of the ObaMao Fan Club or what? Is Mika ready to accept the dhimmi of the year award yet? How much more smug can a person be than she?

The whole group tried to twist the discussion into a justification of ObaMao’s blunder by making Bush a focus.

Are these smug schmucks on Morning Joe forgetting that the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers was not the first attempt? Are they forgetting that Muslims were behind that attack, too?

Instead of discussing why moving the Ground Zero Mosque and Victory Center to another location would be more sensitive to memory of the horrific attack, they lump anyone who objects into “right wing fringe” territory. It is not imperative that the sharia law center and bath house be built in the shadow of Ground Zero except in the eyes of Rauf and his enablers. Why did moving the mosque elsewhere get such short shrift in that discussion?

Nobody objecting to the megastructure is doing so for Constitutional reasons. Yet this gang of talking heads insists on beating that dead horse. Do they even listen to reasoned objections, or are they in haste to attribute what they assume are the reasons for the objections?

Obama’s an idiot.
This mosque is meant to be a monument to the 19 hijackers and a symbol of muslim conquest, hence the project name, “Cordoba.”

But if you’re going to do the big base-pleasing speech in front of the cameras at the dinner, why on earth would you water it down afterwards? It loses you points with the left and earns you nothing with the right since both sides, a la Wolfson here, see it for the political gambit that it is. Baffling.

I am reminded of the dieter motto:
A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips

His endorsement at the dinner was to be some kind of high point. Until that dinner, he reserved such confessions for overseas audiences

Obama would have done better confessing he was a muslim in the speech, than endorsing the mosque. His own faith is his own right, but his endorsement of the mosque trampled over the rights of the other interested parties, survivors, and all Americans who believe they were the object of first strike in a war aganst them as Americans

I do not think Obama failed to consider the possible public reaction. I believe he is driven to spike the American public higher and higher to fulfill his needs. His appetite for such gaming appears to have no limit. I expect much much more from him in the future. He has a lot of rage to satisfy

However I do think Obama is stupid this way: he would rather burn down the house of his enemy, then con them into signing over the deed. His needs are primal. He feeds his belly and not his brain. Ho Hum

Bet his handlers wish they could keep him on a leash

Where is the support for moderate muslims who say “move the mosque”? That is the moderate position here. Imagine the courage it takes for someone like Rima Fakih, the Miss America muslim to stand up in Dearborn and say the mosque should not be built at Ground Zero!

Just listen to those retards and their pitiful discussion! We have plenty of mosques across the country.

I hear again “the average American” whatever that it is. I find it insulting.

I know Below Average Joe is below my average. He spouts trite daily.

Yeah, I hate the damn show!

What`s to like about it?

I read books look thru the blogs trying to find the truth I was never taught. And I have been doing it for years. Had to. Too much truth not taught. Beck on Fox is doing a great job in this area.

The punks in the vid above are bozos and their ilk is distasteful. I do indeed have zero tolerance for such ignorant oafs . . . .

Blackguards all of them.
