Alan Grayson to Ground Zero mosque opponents: Hey, Bush was the one who let 9/11 happen
posted at 12:33 pm on August 20, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via Mark Finkelstein, it pains me to say it but I think Congress’s trolliest troll is getting a bad rap here. The Screw Loose Change guys read this as evidence of Trutherism, that Grayson’s saying Bush let the attack happen on purpose to advance the secret neoKKKon war agenda or whatever. What he’s actually doing, I think, is accusing Bush of negligence in having not paid more attention to the famous President’s Daily Brief on August 6, 2001 about Bin Laden’s intentions. Big difference between those two positions, of course, as the “on purpose” crowd means to accuse Bush of being a willing accomplice in the attack. But go figure that people might not be willing to give Grayson the benefit of the doubt after the insane rhetorical bombthrowing he’s engaged in this year to raise his media profile.
Anyway, there are two things I like about this clip. One: It’s a perfect peg to remind people who are fretting over the stupid “Obama is a Muslim” polls that Trutherism polled pretty darned well back in the day too. And two: The irony of Grayson dumping on Bush this way when Democrats are desperate to get Dubya to weigh in on their side on the issue du jour is simply too golden to be ignored. My suggested headline for if/when Bush grants their wish: “Guy who let 9/11 happen sides with mosque supporters.”

Didn’t the Clinton inattention also contribute to what happened on 911? He’d had much longer to figure out what was going on than Mr. Bush did. Call me crazy, but I gotta hand this one back to ‘ole Bill.

MSNBC likes having former Florida congressmen on their staff (see Scarborough, Joe), so I think Grayson is simply toning up his resume for a job as a paid talking head for them after January 1.
jon1979 on August 20, 2010 at 12:40 PM
Considering that Grayson has been on Alex Jones’ show more than once, I don’t think it’s a stretch to think he might be a truther.
MadisonConservative on August 20, 2010 at 12:40 PM
OK my take is the following. “Bush let 9/11 happen”. In my world if someone let’s something happen, that means they could have prevented it. Not buying that Bush could have prevented 9/11 from happening. Maybe Clinton could have prevented it, if he had taken Osama out, but I doubt that too.
Johnnyreb on August 20, 2010 at 12:40 PM
So its Bush’s fault that Clinton let Bin Laden get away when he had the chance? Bush’s fault we had a completely weakened intelligence community? Bush’s fault these people got Visas and resident status in the US to begin with? Bush’s fault Grayson looks more and more like a muppet?
I can tell ya one thing, it’ll be partially Obama’s fault (and to a point Grayson’s) when we clear these idiots out of congress.

While I agree with you that Grayson doesn’t appear to a Truther. I have a problem with the comparison of the “9/11 was an Inside Job/Obama is a Muslim” polls. Not liking someone’s choice of religion and accusing them of killing three thousand people are just too fundamentally different.

As much as I hat this tool, he has a minor point. We should have been keeping our distance from the Saudis before hand, and gone after them for for their part in the attacks. It seems like, even to this day, our support for so-called allies like SA and the Pakis is taking priority over getting the job done. Those two have always been way more central to the planning, financing, and execution of terror the world over than Afghanistan or Iraq ever were. Not to mention that Saudi money builds the madrassas that will keep the jihad going for generations. It’s the ideas and money behind the mosques that we need to resist and divorce ourselves from.
abobo on August 20, 2010 at 12:47 PM
It couldn’t be that Slick Clintoon ignored the first WTC bombing, or that he was paying too much attention to the intern under the desk, or that he spent all that time sugar-coating Reno’s Waco massacre, or that he took another junket to Africa every time another scandal broke, or that Slick was busy obstructing justice for Paula Jones, or kissing up to the ChiComs for campaign loot, or selling White House coffees, or entertaining Johnny Huang, or threatening Haiti before rapidly retreating?
No, it couldn’t be any of that ! It has to be W’s fault for inheriting the whorehouse Slick Clintoon, Reno’s DOJ train wreck and Bubba’s pimps Stufiinenvelopes, Carville, Begala etc. had left behind.

Weebork on August 20, 2010 at 1:00 PM
bin Laden himself said that the attacks were supposed to happen while Clinton was still in office, but were delayed when Mohammed Atta told him he needed more training time. That added time obviously was successful, as he and his team achieved 75% of their objectives that morning.
In other words, Bush inherited the 9/11 attacks from his predecessor.
Further proof of this can be found in the actions of the Clintonites after the attack-placing a high ranking Justice Department official on the “9/11 Commission” solely so she would not be able to be questioned under oath, and also the escapade with Sandy Berger stealing and destroying classified documents.
And don’t forget their attempts to censor the “Road to 9/11″ film, which continue to this day, as Disney has been pressured by them to never release it on DVD.

The August 2001 PDB was mostly a compendium of info given in a December 1998 PDB to Bill Clinton.
It must always be pointed out when the left brings this up. The existance of the August PDB was leaked in spring 2002 and spun with the “Bush Knew” but ignored or didn’t address lie put on it. That tells you everything you need to know about anyone who pushed and continues to push that story.

Grayson is just being put out there by berri while he vacations as one of a plethora of distractions designed to make his holiday a more enjoyable one.
Here’s something that we should really worry about:
At the rate obama expertly and deliberately creates constant chaos and confusion, throwing dung on every American like a caged animal who missed his supper, his termite-demons in all the regulatory and czar’s offices can write, unmolested by anyone looking over their shoulders, the health care and financial reform bills which nobody read, nor knows if they were just pages full of meaningless words. They are now being “legislated” by obama’s shadow executive branch.
But I digress.
One of the things that the chaos has wrought that has galled me, is that so many usually sharp thinkers became melon-heads that have been on the vine too long, as they took pot-shots at the deliberately easy, shiny target obama dangled.
I’M TALKING ABOUT NASA.
WHY DOES ANYONE BELIEVE AND ACCEPT THAT THIS AGENCY, WHICH IS THE FOUNTAINHEAD OF AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM, TECHNOLOGY FOR WAR, PEACE AND UNITED STATES SECURITY, HAS MERELY BEEN TURNED INTO A MUSLIM OUTREACH CENTER?????
The fact that obama could unilaterally take over NASA is inconceivable, yet there has been nary a peep. The only sound I’ve heard from conservatives is smug ridicule, “Oh, right, now we’ve got to use NASA to make muslims feel good about themselves. Thanks, obama.”
How about something more like this:
“WE DON’T BELIEVE FOR ONE SECOND YOUR INSULTING, UNCONSTITUTIONAL STORY ABOUT TAKING OVER NASA TO MAKE MUZZIES FEEL GOOD.
How about:
WE WANT TO SEE WHAT, WHERE AND TO WHOM THE BUDGET FOR NASA IS GOING.
WE WANT TO SEE WHAT, WHERE AND TO WHOM INFORMATION ON OUR TECHNOLOGY IS GOING.
WE WANT TO SEE WHAT, WHERE AND TO WHOM THE MONEY THAT WAS TO BE USED TO KEEP US IN SPACE IS GOING NOW THAT YOU HAVE GROUNDED THE ENTIRE SPACE PROGRAM.
HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD DID ANYONE BELIEVE, PARROT, MAKE FUN OF AND LET OBAMA GET AWAY WITH “THIS WAS JUST A FEEL-GOOD MOVE FOR THE MUZZIES”????
I can just see obama sneering at how quickly we suckers swallowed the bait – hook, line and sinker. I can hear him say, “Those rubes can’t resist an easy target. My cover story makes no sense, but they’ll fall all over themselves to try to show how smart they are just to insult me. Dummies.”
How do we know Obama isn’t busy transferring NASA’s entire budget and technology to Islam?
Do we think he intended to take over NASA for the muslims, only to waste it’s power and might on “self-esteem” kindergarten exercises???
Does anyone else wonder if missile building and guidance technology isn’t NUMBER ONE ON THESE THIRD-WORLD-SEVENTH-CENTURY-SAVAGES LIST??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wake up, melon heads! NASA has been stolen from us, and given to the muzzies. And as usual, obama’s twist of the knife in our back has us footing the bill.
And we will pay for it in more many more ways than one.
tigerlily on August 20, 2010 at 1:25 PM
What district does Grayson represent? Somewhere near Orlando? Somewhere near Florida flight schools where some of the 9-11 hijackers were learning to take off and not land, and nobody bothered to notify the FBI, and Jamie Gorelick built a wall between the FBI and the CIA under the Clinton Administration. And Clinton had the chance in 1996 to take custody of Bin Laden from the Saudis, but Clinton didn’t have a good enough lawyer to indict him.
Yeah, sure, Bush let it happen. Because nobody told him what Al Qaeda was planning, and Clinton let Bin Laden get away, and cut our military defenses in half.
Now New York Muslims want a place to pray for a re-run.

I also don’t understand why there isn’t more outrage. I don’t even understand what he has done to it to make it an outreach to the muslims, other than getting rid of the space program. I see it as he doesn’t want us to have the sky to protect ourselves if these idiots decide to launch, whatever.
You know Glenn Beck had a recording where obama was asked if he believed in Jesus Christ. And his answer was, well he is a great teacher. Isn’t believing that he is the son of G-d what makes a Christian? Muslims believe he was a prophet. Is that what the traitor in office is saying?

Where will the billions which were budgeted for, of all things, NASA keeping Americans in space, technological advancement and weapons applications, go to now that obama has canceled NASA’s reason for being???
The Islamic middle east comes to mind.
I just can’t believe obama’s getting away with all he has gotten away with. He’s flushing the nation down the toilet and nothing is stopping him.
Even if we get November done, his shadow executive branch is legislating through thousands of deeply imbedded regulators, executive orders and scores “czars”. Will that be pulled out, root and branch?

Agreed.
And what if obama is a muslim? He is, technically, according to Islamic teaching. It would be very informative if someone would ask obama whether he accepts or rejects that particular teaching, wouldn’t it?
And why shouldn’t he be asked? He is the one so willing to bring Islam into all things American. He has told us that Islam has always been part of America. Well, we have an American president born to a Muslim father and adopted by a muslim man in Indonesia. Does obama accept or reject his Islamic faith passed to him paternally?
It is a question based on a matter of fact, no snark intended.
And he has many curious, exhaustively listed, here and elsewhere, attachments, attractions and behaviours to Islam that I don’t think would be displayed by any Christian-American, even remotely.
For example, as a Christian, I could say, “I have known Christianity on three continents” because to KNOW a religious faith is to intimitately accept it in your heart.
I could never say that I have KNOWN buddhism, or hinduism, or Islam, even if I lived for years in nations where these faiths were dominant.
I could say I lived side-by-side WITH, or KNEW OF them, but never that I KNEW them, because as a practicing Christian,
the only faith I KNOW is Christianity.
However, in the Cairo speech, whose message to the Islamic world from obama could not be overestimated; a speech designed to be heard by billions around the world, where every word must be precise, obama speaks like a natural muslim in several passages, and, as a self-proclaimed Christian, nonetheless proclaims that he has KNOWN Islam on three continents, including North America.
Sorry to say, but these subtleties would be lost on someone who practices no religion, and has but a shallow and many times misrepresentative, incorrectly formed view of Christianity.
These factors would leave one at a distinct disadvantage to make an external judgement (only God can judge obama internally) about obama’s external manifestation of Christian belief. It leaves one to fall back on the word of “pastors” who vouch for obama. One of these pastors, post-Wright, is, according to Glenn Beck’s research, a communist sympathizer at the very least. Last time I checked, communism and Christianty don’t go together. At all. I don’t know who the second pastor is.
As for using outsiders like these pastors and KP as credible sources, because one has no “inside” knowledge or perspective, well, one loses the argument right there.
So, the last refuge, or in this case the first, of a lost argument is the ad hominem. Stupid.
