I work in Dearborn-istan Michigan, some of my co-workers are Muslim. I also have Muslim neighbors where I live (far form my work). For the most part they are nice people.

However, it has been my experience that as far as the religious aspect goes, there are no moderate Muslims. They are either practicing or not practicing their faith (much like myself with being a Catholic).
They are either afraid to stand up or do not care to get involved. To get involved is to take a stand which puts them in a difficult position. Kind of like answering that gotcha question “Do you still beat your wife?”. No matter how you answer it, you can not win.

They have nothing to lose by taking a wait and see additude and doing nothing.

Just my opinion.

Ugh. There are battles in Virginia all the time over who should be able to build anything (WalMarts, Casinos, you name it) on sacred Civil War battlegrounds. People just don’t like the idea of building things on hallowed grounds, no matter what it is. They win these battles all the time. A local university was crucified when they brought up a plan to build a ball field on the ground where Turner Ashby died and that was in 1862!
