Video: Mama Grizzlies Against Sarah Palin

posted at 12:55 pm on August 17, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Let’s see if we can count up the straw men offered up by Emily’s List in their attempt to co-opt the “Mama Grizzlies” label from Sarah Palin, an effort ridiculed by Tammy Bruce yesterday and featured at CBS today. Palin wants to eliminate “health care”? Check! Republicans want to completely eliminate unemployment benefits? Check! Outlaw gay relationships? Check!

Pro-abortion rights group EMILY’S List is today launching a campaign suggesting that America’s so-called “Mama Grizzlies” – a phrase coined by Sarah Palin to describe her supporters – don’t all come from Palin’s side of the political spectrum.

“Throughout this cycle, Sarah Palin has predicted a rising tide of mothers and women voters who will support her so-called ‘Mama Grizzly’ candidates,” EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock said in a release. “Palin has made it her mission to defeat candidates who have worked hard to champion the rights of women and families across the country and replace them with conservative candidates who want to repeal health care, stand with big business, and eliminate a woman’s right to choose. So today, EMILY’s List is calling on women – and men! – to let their voices be heard and to reject Palin’s reactionary candidates and backward-looking agenda.”

The group, which focuses on getting candidates who support abortion rights elected, has put out a web video (watch it above) and is pushing a campaign called “Sarah Doesn’t Speak for Me” meant to appeal to Democrats, independents and “moderate Republicans who have no home.”

Moderate? Maybe if the Straw Mamas could come up with a coherent argument, they could succeed. However, Palin and her “Mama Grizzlies” don’t hold the ridiculous positions that these masquerading moms claim, as anyone with an ounce of sense and the ability to read can quickly determine for themselves. Republicans wanted to pay for an extension of unemployment benefits through previously allocated funds rather than incur more debt on grizzly cubs, or the cubs of the cubs and then their cubs as well, as Democrats ended up demanding.

As far as eliminating “health care,” as Emily’s List’s fuzzy logic claims, one would have to believe that “health care” was nonexistent in the US before Barack Obama took office. Maybe those who belong to Emily’s List really have been in hibernation their entire lives, but health care has been around a while.  No, really, you can look it up.  In fact, most Americans preferred the existing system before ObamaCare’s takeover of the sector.  Speaking of hibernation, none of us really give a damn who shares the cave, but after watching this video, we imagine they must either have the same cognitive issues as these performers, or the same honesty issues.

Update: Speaking of banning “health care,” how do the Straw Mamas feel about the Obama administration’s attempt to decertify Avastin for breast cancer? (h/t HA commenter portlandon)

You can say or type or yell that at the top of your lungs from the mountaintops or carve it in a granite stone and the dementocrats will plug their ears and shut their eyes and scream “nananananananana I can’t heaaaaarrrrr you, I know you are but what am I.”

A simple answer….if that’s what Obama wants, then they’re for it. If some “sisters” need to die for the cause, so be it.

olesparkie on August 17, 2010 at 2:10 PM

the banning of the new breast cancer drug is exactly what Palin was talking about with her “death panel” comment.

Luckly I have 20-30 years before I have to relie on the fed gov to pay my healthcare. I figure once that happens I will not be around long after that. the Seniors and those soon to be Seniors should vote 100% against the dems if they vaule their lives.

My mom was never that into politics. She always voted but that was about it.

After Clinton was impeached, my Dad went uber-liberal and was always talking about all the evil things Republicans were doing.

My mom would listen to what he was saying and think, “Well, that doesn’t make sense. If they’re so awful, why would anyone ever vote for them?” So, she started looking into it different issues and politicians and ended up becoming a well-informed, staunch conservative.

Emily’s Listers should be careful when they start throwing around outrageous strawmen. It could potentially have the opposite effect of what they are hoping to achieve.

You miss the point. the effect they want is to divide the nation. to put out as many untruths and lies as possible to get the useful idiots on their side.

And irt to your family it worked. You dad turned into a ultraliberal and your mother a ultra conservative all because of the BIg lies by the left. They split your family 50/50 and thus their lies and policies have a much better chance to get passed at 50/50 than if they did not lie and the vast majority saw them for who they are.

For some reason, I flashed on a memory of an old “Road” movie w/Crosby, Hope, and Lamour. In one arctic scene in a primitive cabin, Hope is lying on the floor, groping around what he thinks is the fur-beclad Lamour, but in reality it is a bear that has wandered into the cabin. Oh, how I loved those old films.

You need to tell your Dad that early in his pResidency, Bill Clinton had his Justice Department successfully prosecute a female career Federal employee (VA) for lying under oath about sex.

When she did it, it was a crime. When he later did the same thing, his defenders said he was above the law.

How seriously can you take someone without the courage to show their face to the camera while discussing serious issues, speaks in straw-men of straw-men arguments, and who dress up in a bear suite while making silly growl-ly noises? It’s just funny. And pathetic.

I am amazed at how Sarah Palin does very little to raise her profile intellectually other then force the moonbats to expose themselves. It’s ingenious!

I realized it was not worth talking to my dad about politics the Christmas break during my Freshman year of college. Somehow, decorating the Christmas tree turned into a rant about John Ashcroft listening in on everyone’s phone conversations and spying on the American public.

I find it funny that now that Obama’s the President my dad is always telling me how it’s so sad that the political climate has deteriorated and that he doesn’t understand why people are afraid of such a great guy like Obama. It’s as if he has no memory of spending the last 8 years talking about President Select Shrub and his Nazi regime.

Politics aside, he’s the best possible dad I could ask for. I just make sure that I leave politics aside so that it stays that way (though he does know and lament that all three of his kids grew up to be Conservatives).

I love how they started removing comments and now have required all comments to be approved before posting them.

As well as disabling the ratings on the video.

That is a perfect example of how liberals think and act on every single issue. If they have the ability to remove and silence opposing viewpoints, that’s the direction they prefer to take.

It’s mindboggling how anyone would want to align themselves with such a closed minded ideology and then attempt to claim the moral high ground via “speaking for others”. The irony is absurdly ironic.

Before either laughing at the video or get pis$ed at the ignorance, with regards to the breast cancer med I say this:

I lost my mother to breast cancer in January of 96. Three and a half years of HELL. Spread to the heart, lungs, you could see it on the back of her neck all the way up the brain. I have never seen anything like this. Wound never healed; it sputtered watery blood, so I had to be a college student, a nurse, an employee and a daughter.

Been to Mr. PPF’s hospital these couple of days for a couple of reasons, but the gift shop has breast cancer things here and there. I always will support breast cancer research, look for that cure.

There’s this lil’ rectangular pillow I will never buy: “I’m A Survivor” with the pink ribbon to the right. My 9-yo wanted me to buy it, but I had to explain to him that “Abuelita” was the one that had the cancer, and if she lived then she could’ve bought the pillow, but I can’t because I didn’t have the breast cancer (I am high risk).

Though I told him at the end/because he insisted/that perhaps I could have bought that pillow as a survivor for all the struggle my family and I went through. If she was alive today, I’d doubt a LOT that I’d be living here in the US. People take their moms for granted. It’s a hole that never gets filled, no matter what.

ANY medication that has been part of a study and has been used towards breast cancer cure-no matter the cost-must be available to those who can afford it. Rationing my arse! If rationing kills more people with cancer, burns, tumors and such then what O wants is a Spartan population.

These women, and I use that term loosely, are products of our fine institutions of higher learning. They are making their case for:
abortion
unemployment benefits
government-run healthcare

I’m sticking with Sarah Palin, who is fighting for our liberties that are being trampled on regularly by this President and this congress.
Abortion should be a state issue.
I’m tired of paying taxes to support deadbeats on unemployment
And look to Great Britain and Canada and see what happens to healthcare when the government runs it! It’s a horrifying mess, including: rationing, death panels, reduced benefits, and the costs are higher than before!

Mark7788 on August 17, 2010 at 6:07 PM

Wow, Emily’s List spends over 10% of it’s funds on salaries? Really? That seems a little extreme. Over 25% on administrative costs?

http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/expend.php?cycle=2010&cmte=C00193433

Sounds like this is more about lining the pockets of whoever is running this thing instead of actually promoting their agenda. They can’t have that many people working for them can they? If we went by the average salary of an American worker, that would put them at employing 400+ people. And I find that very, very difficult to believe.

An odd breed of “Mama” Grizzly that’s fighting mad over the thought of not being able to legally kill their unborn children.
Disgusting and contemptible.

306 views. Is that all us?

I know I have no intention of watching this inanity. While Sarah doesn’t speak for me, it’s damn sure that these idiots don’t either.

However, I find it very interesting whom these leftists regard as so dangerous to them that they need to take the time and effort to generate this pathetic video.

I swear Ed made a deal with these people to create this Palin-post, so as to generate traffic during the dog days of summer. :)

September cannot come soon enough….and neither can November.

hahahaha.

Honestly, the grizzlies should either be greatly appalled or terribly amused that a bunch of pathetic canines are doing such a lousy impersonation of said grizzlies.

Some things are so badly done that they are humourous for that reason alone.

What do I usually say at the end? Oh yeah… Heaven help us.
