Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?
posted at 9:00 am on August 15, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Get your scorecards out, because it’s time once again to choose the Obamateurism of the Week! Trying to spot an OOTD is kind of like opening a Coke can in … er, another Coke can, so just consider the poll a bonus. Some may be looking forward already to next week’s poll, but just try to give this Obama’s Mr. Spock approach and you’ll live long and prosper — and that may be why prosperity seems like something from another planet to the President.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

I took a walk over to 45 Park Place yesterday. It’s less than a minute walk from the north end of the ISLAMIC TERROR SITE (so sick am I of hearing it called the 9/11 site or the 9/11 tragedy as if it’s a calendar issue).
Anyway, I trundled over there to see the bridge building. The block is eerily dark because the opposite side of the street is wholly constituted by another building largely under renovation. The area is dark anyway, because of so many big buildings. Granted, it was not a weekday. I hung out there for several minutes at about 7pm, and the doorway to the old Burlington Coat Factory at 45 Park Pl. was very active. Every 30 seconds or so people appeared who were very likely muslim–either the women were wrapped in head garb or their overall presentation and the given venue added up to them being muslim. So it’s already very active. I pulled out my camera to take some shots, and everyone tried to hide their faces. I guess they’re ashamed. I’m not sure why, since their avowed raison d’etre is to
blow upbuild bridges. The doorman aggressively tried to wave me off, and after a while I decided it was unsafe, which I think is the exact atmosphere they’re shooting for, pardon the pun. There’s no signage, except for something in arabic on the door now, and there’s nobody to attend to the questions that curious neighborhood people might have. I was pretty surprised to see no obvious police presence (plain clothes officers could be anywhere), except for the usual de facto outpost of cops in SUVs out on Greenwich St, which is a block away. That location is a pefect site for their ends, because thousands of them will be groveling in the street every Friday, tying up traffic and menacing well-meaning people who come to visit Ground Zero. It’s truly disgusting, but the truth is, it’s a metaphor for our will to survive as compared to theirs.
If islam were a religion and not a fanatical supremacist politcal cult that considers women property, nobody would care. Until we have leaders who are willing to recognize this, our children will continue be pushed into the jaws of sadism.

I’ve wondered if I’m the only one that got that. I would give him more of a break on using the teleprompters if he had ever, one time, been able to have a “crash” and still know what the hell he was talking about. When those prompters let him down this ass clown is lost as to what to say. Damn, a robot could do better… but I digress.

All aboard the magic carpet ride. We may experience turbulence but that’s just the racist tea partiers. Pay no heed.
Fuquay Steve on August 15, 2010 at 12:37 PM
He could be right about that (though I doubt Bush would be as stridently pro-mosque as zer0), but the anti-mosque reaction would still be the same.
Western_Civ on August 15, 2010 at 12:39 PM
Ground Zero mosque.
Shiny_Tiara on August 15, 2010 at 12:39 PM
I actually think GWB, even he feels it is okay for the mosque to be built at the proposed location, knowing how devisive the topic is, won’t make a statement about it.
ladyingray on August 15, 2010 at 12:45 PM
“And they don’t have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation.”
They say the Obama Campaign got denominations, of $200.00 Visa Cards untraceable donations for his campaign…who bought and donated those Visas?
Why does all the policy and legislation favor foreign countries over our own country?
Dr Evil on August 15, 2010 at 12:49 PM
Like I said I was shocked Senator Cornyn said this morning the Republicans should use it for the midterms. I would have expected how “inappropriate” that is.
Marcus on August 15, 2010 at 12:58 PM
So the Ground Zero Mosque deal was after the deadline for a Sunday post? The turnaround time on this site is not exactly going the speed of the internet, then. Is somebody still on a 9600 k modem or something?

They should use every weapon they can get. The Republic needs it! Glad to see they are finally learning how to fight.

Let’s not forget that one of ObaMao’s to-do list items was to declare 9/11 a “day of service.” He is h*ll bent on minimizing the significance of this attack, just as he has paid minimal (and very belated) concern over the Ft. Hood massacre, the Christmas Day panty bomber, and the Times Square wannabe terrorist.
ObaMao is a one-man man-made disaster. His ineffectual administrative cronies grow the impact of that disaster exponentially.

OBAMAMOSQUE!!!
Spread the word.
Does anyone know what the actual start day/time and end day/time is for the OOTW?
tigerlily on August 15, 2010 at 3:29 PM
Okay. But what concerns me more is the the lack of ANY post on Obama’s mosque walkback comments on Saturday. That was a big story yesterday and is today’s biggest story. It’s the hot topic on all of the Sunday shows and will have legs going into next week and probably beyond. Democrats are already complaining to the WH that now they’ll have to talk about an issue that probably hurts them. The left is infuriated that Obama appeared to support their favored view, only to throw them to the curb the next day.
Obama nationalized a controversial issue in less than 24 hours. It is simply a huge story and I don’t see any reason why Hot Air hasn’t had a follow-up post after the thread that got closed. Nowhere has Allah or Ed mentioned the walkback at all, unless I’m missing something.

What???
The One’s dad was not in WWII, He meant grandpa (the typical white person’s husband). Awful. This would be stolen valor since WWII was always a high status fight for politicians.
IlikedAUH2O on August 15, 2010 at 3:49 PM
This story is huge also because, although our sitting “president” and CinC has done his best to rewrite history, we are in fact, at war, on TWO fronts, with at best, questionable ROEs, and with an enemy that President Bush correctly identified: Islamic Terrorists.
GZ is the embodiment of the lying, sneaking, hatred, terror and murder that these tools take delight in.
That these people should not only get away with, but be enabled and encouraged to build this outrage of an obamamosque at this location, to be dedicated on 9/11, built with who knows what money, with Church and state violations flying everywhere (Rauf sent to the middle east on OUR dime to fundraise for the mosque. What!!!???) is a direct provocation and gloating victory insult TO EVERY AMERICAN, LIVING AND DEAD.
Even if impeachment is not politically possible, the “optics” of the word and intention being shouted by every man, woman and child with a brain in their head, could help immeasurably in making zero lamer than any duck in history.
We must not withhold any legitimate means, free speech being foremost, in stopping this true rogue “president”.
tigerlily on August 15, 2010 at 3:51 PM
I know. That’s why the FF’s choice of “cuisine” cracked me up.
Reuters has a photo of the FFs indulging in some ice cream, too. Michelle O, the Food Policewoman, is treating herself to a hot fudge sundae. You have to laugh.
onlineanalyst on August 15, 2010 at 4:24 PM
If they still care, I’d still like to let the know what I think!!!! LOL!!
Cindy Munford on August 15, 2010 at 4:32 PM
Does anyone remember any past FF who were so obsessively determined to eat the most and best of everything? While so many Americans are dining on macncheese, tuna and rice and beans?
btw, I hear the Martha’s Vineyard estate that they are staying at, which was the same as last year, rents for between $30,000 – $50,000 per week. Even if it’s the low end, that’s huge. Who’s paying for it?
tigerlily on August 15, 2010 at 4:41 PM
Are any of you aware of the difficulties imposed on a Greek Orthodox church trying to rebuild after nine years, a church that was crushed on 9/11 by Muslim terrorists?

The OBAMAMOSQUE is wrong on every level it is possible to be wrong on.
tigerlily on August 15, 2010 at 5:05 PM
I call it ‘pulling an Alynsky’, and Obama is always doing this sort of thing. His 2008 campaign was hailed as ‘brilliant’ but there was an entire machine (including the MSM/Journolist/ACORN) propelling him to the white house. But what of Obama, the Community Organizer? Did he accomplish anything? Obama, the Senator-voted ‘present’. Silly Democrats: Hope & Change sounds good on the campaign trail, but Americans expect you to do your job, once you accept the leadership.

I just heard about this yesterday. What does Mayor Bloomberg have to say for himself??

He’s too busy regulating the use and posession of salt to worry about something this minor.
slickwillie2001 on August 15, 2010 at 9:01 PM
His inability to recall what he said after reading it off a teleprompter also points to the fact that this are not his words, he didn’t write it.
If he had written it his teleprompter wouldn’t be such a crutch.
Another annoying but telling thing is when he speaks without a teleprompter or just reading script is his use of “errrrss ahhhs uhmmms” a clear sign of being clueless.
Or lying.

Well, obviously, the Muslims wanting to build the Cordoba mosque feel it **is** close to GZ since they say that they are building it there to build bridges (spit). If it wasn’t near GZ, that wouldn’t be the “reason” for them building it where they are.
-Aslan’s Girl
Aslans Girl on August 16, 2010 at 12:25 AM
OK, finally found Ed’s explanation for the omission… it’s just that after the silliness here the last few days, including AP saying that Bush would be for it as well, I’m suspicious. Look forward to it being included next week and seeing it win like gangbusters!
