Video: America’s greatest folk hero speaks

posted at 3:47 pm on August 11, 2010 by Allahpundit

As with any prophet, his words are few — and yet somehow they speak volumes. He’s capable of performing miracles too. Who else could earn favorable mentions from both Robert Gibbs and Mark Levin?

He’s like Dale Peterson, minus the Winchester. Plus a whole lot of gay.

“I’ve had that fantasy,” says Sara Keagle, a flight attendant for 18 years. “He lived my fantasy. He is the Thelma and Louise of flight attendants.”…

Tuesday afternoon at Reagan National Airport, flight attendants were walking a little taller, smiling the secret smile of the righteously vindicated.

“Every single one of my friends said, ‘Good for him!’ ” whispered an attendant wearing an American Airlines uniform who, like some others interviewed, declined to give her name, citing airline regulations and fear of losing her job. She has dealt with the cellphone arguments. The passenger bickering. She has pulled out the final threat: Do I need to call the captain? “You put on a smile and you treat them like children,” says the former schoolteacher. Don’t make her turn this plane around…

“He took a stand for not only flight attendants but everyone” who has ever hated a job, says Laurie. “You always hold back. You always bite your tongue. You never actually say it. But he said it! He said it!”

It’s comforting to know that America’s flight attendants now have a patron saint for their simmering, not-a-little-disturbing rage. Note to stewards and stewardesses everywhere: Ease off the “Blue Juice.” Exit quotation: “For 20 years, I thought about it.”

Why is no one — anywhere — talking about the woman passenger? I thought sure she’d have been interviewed by Jerk-al-do by now. Probably holding out for The View.

Maybe it didn’t happen the way so many want it to have happened. Perhaps they would rather print the legend as it were.

i get that some passengers are annoying, they annoy the bejeezus out of me too. but why is this guy getting accolades for basically acting like just as much of an asswipe as the passenger he was angry with? i hope he gets in trouble for opening the door and setting off the inflating stairs. what the hell?

Actually the lack of interviews with other passengers is rather strange isn’t it?

They may yet come. But I believe you have a point. Promoting this jerk to hero status shows the degregation of our society.

This man is an irresponsible social misfit. There is nothing decent, honorable or the least bit amusing about his behavior. He ought to be fired and charged with a crime.

“Are you going to lose your job?”

(Meaningful look) “Probably.”

I love it.

They have interviewed his “ex-wife”. Now there is a surprise….

If that dumb bastard allowed a rude passenger to set him off, how would he react if a hijacking were in progress or the plane was going down into the ocean?
