Quotes of the day

posted at 10:30 pm on August 10, 2010 by Allahpundit

I suspect that for most liberals, any real sense of progress has now been lost. Yes, the left got a good-but-not-great health care bill, a good-but-not-great stimulus package, a good-but-not-great financial reform plan: these are a formidable bounty, and Obama and the Democratic Congress worked hard for them. But they now read as a basically par-for-the-course result from a time when all the stars were aligned for the Democrats — rather than anything predictive of a new direction, or of a more progressive future. In contrast, as should become emphatically clear on November 2nd, the reversion to the mean has been incredibly swift…

I don’t know whether Gibbs was going “off-message” out of frustration, or whether the White House has become so jaded that they actually think this was a good strategy. Either way, it speaks to the need for some fresh blood and some fresh ideas in the White House. The famously unflappable Obama is losing his cool.

Awwwww…..Olberdouche, fear not! You ARE the epitome of the “professional left”! You are psychologically damaged, as are all progressives. You believe up is down, down is up, good is bad, and bad is good. You progressives are sick twisted traitors of America, Americans, honesty, common sense, and freedom.

PLEASE keep talking! You are our greatest tool in educating discouraged Americans who haven’t voted in years (and the morons who feel for Obama’s 8ullshit lies!), through illustrating the derangement of progressives!

1. Healthcare bill has yet to be fully implemented and so can’t be graded.

3. Financial reform…see note 1.

Through the large democrat majorities and the WH the independents were forced to understand WHO the left is and what their idea of running the country is. The professional left is forced to confront the unpopularity of their ideas which isn’t voiced by independents and moderates until invoked on them. Having to accept that they DON’T live in a progressive country kills the idea (for them not for us whom it is way too much) that they will see a “progresive” USA. Prepare to see a lot of complaining and anger expecially after November. They will all be Monday quarterbacking what could have been. It won’t occur to them their unpopularity is linked to trying for a progressive USA.

I’m starting to warm up to Gibbs (not really, but I certainly am overjoyed that he has turned the left from just being loony to becoming permanentdenizens of The Snake Pit).

So far I have read lefty blogs calling for even farther left challenges to Obama for 2012, others that welcome the “hate” as a wakeup call, and all leading to what looks like a final nail in the coffin of any enthusiasm for Obama.

The left will continue to fight for their communist and socialist ideals; however, I don’t expect them to give their money or time “politicking” for Teh One.

If only this will keep them from the polls in November . . . hope for change.

What an idiot.

There was never a large majority of so-called “progressives,” or a large majority of voters who support a massive nanny-state government. The Democrats’ 60 votes in the Senate included Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Evan Bayh, Mark Begich, Byron Dorgan, Jon Tester, Jim Webb, Mark Warner, Tom Carper, Joe Lieberman, and eventually Arlen Specter – that’s 11 votes, folks – none of whom were elected espousing Keith Olbermann-style “progressivism.” Same with the House, where Democrats hold something like 50 seats in districts that George Bush carried in 2004. Rahm Emanuel did a great job getting conservative Democrats elected in those seats, but a lot of them were never going to vote for the full progressive agenda.

This whining from the Left really amazes me. They should be ecstatic that they got what they got, especially on health care. They never have had even 51 votes in the Senate for full-on socialized medicine, but what they got is going to get us closer and closer to it.

I went to the trouble to transcribe this, because I couldn’t believe my ears…

The right wants not leadership, it wants lockstep.
The right wants not nuanced thought from its adherents, it wants salutes and sworn fealty.
The right wants not critical analysis from its media, it wants propaganda.

I must remind Olbermann on these three points, that it’s the left who are not tolerant of diversity of thought. It is the left who now use the mainstream media as its propaganda machine.

I’m reminded of that line, if you want to know what the left are guilty of, just look at what they’re accusing the right of.

comments from the Hill regarding Keith Ellison calling on Gibbs to resign. These people are abandoning the SS Hopenchange folks, abandoning it…

If democrats are talking about Gibbs in this way, I bet he doesn’t stay long in that position. I think he said what he said because he’s frustrated with republicans trashing the President every waking minute, and now democrats are criticizing the President for pandering to the right. It’s true that Obama isn’t the same liberal thinker he was on the campaign trail. As soon as he got into office he didn’t just take the center position, he immediately bowed to the right, and abandoned his left base. Of course we’re going to be unhappy with that. And to add to it, his pandering to republicans and ‘blue dog’ repub wannabees is what watered down and gutted healthcare reform and financial reform. We got mediocre bills instead of strong reform which is what we were promised. I hope Gibbs does leave. He was always a mealy mouth anyway and didn’t seem to fit that job at all. Another one they should get rid of is Rahm Emanuel. He’s the main problem. It’s his ‘get a bill no matter what it looks like’ agenda that’s directed Obama into his ‘don’t fight for what’s right, just compromise everything’ mode.

They just can’t bring themselves to admit socialism fails everytime it is tried.

jeffn21 on August 11, 2010 at 10:08 AM

It seems to me that the left is punishing Obama for the fact that America isn’t nearly as left as they are. What is Obama supposed to do? Enact socialism and get 25% approval ratings?

As much as the left loves smearing the Tea Party movement, it’s quite clear what side of the political spectrum contains the fringe.

The polls have moved towards the Tea Party, not the other way around. And, instead of looking themselves in the mirror, America’s left is looking for someone else to blame.

Dennis_Second_Thots on August 11, 2010 at 10:35 AM

The seat he offers is attended by you Mr. Ogerman, who is ready to pull the seat our from under the person for a cheap laugh. Also the seat you offer has no actual sustinance in which to place ones self confortable.

Mr. Ogerman you are so far left I would not want you in charge of Cartology because you would be so concerned about everyone falling off the edge of your redrawn world.

Also, the left does not stand for liberty, leadership or anything but larcenous Lordship – whose primary tacitly robs em blind and robs the blind too.

What world does this guy live in? Trillions of dollars of spending, diverting fruits of one’s labor to people that don’t put forth any effort to earn, and continuing to let out borders be a joke.

How can a thinking person believe these policys are good for America?

saiga on August 11, 2010 at 12:46 PM

But this is always the narrative put forth by the mouth breathing, frothing, liberal progressives…”It’s not us!” They act like children getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar blaming the cat for their misdeeds and attempting to use misdirection. What Olberdick is missing in his diatribe, among other things, is that the Ho’bama administration wants and has heretofore gotten exactly wants this flaccid talking head deride:

The Ho’bama administrationright wants not leadership, it wants lockstep.

The Ho’bama administration right wants not nuanced thought from its adherents, it wants salutes and sworn fealty.

The Ho’bama administration right wants not critical analysis from its media, it wants propaganda
After all, when you lose in the arena of ideas, casting aspersions will work, won’t it?!?!?
