Video: Palin confronts “worst governor ever” protester; Update: Palin rips media coverage of video
posted at 4:57 pm on August 9, 2010 by Allahpundit
Late afternoon traffic bait via Breitbart. I assume this was posted by a Sarah-hater, but I’m not sure why: She acquits herself well, as even certain lefties are fair enough to admit, and it’s fun to watch her confront a hostile protester given her rap for hiding inside the Fox News bubble. Even Bristol, newly liberated from 165 lbs. or so of fame-whore dead weight, gets in a shot. Faced with the fact that there’s nothing here that’s actually damning, the lefty spin du jour is that Palin seems to rolls her eyes when the woman tells her she’s a teacher. Which, I guess, is smoking-gun proof that Sarahcuda, the daughter of a science teacher … hates teachers? Or books, or something? Whatever.
Jack up the sound on your speakers as the exchange is tough to hear; Mediaite and Politico have snippets of the dialogue in case you can’t make it out. Exit question: Is this woman the world’s most polite Palin-hater? Aside from the giant banner, she’s downright subdued!
Update: I don’t know what I’d do for content without her.
The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I – wait for it – “appear to roll my eyes” when the lady tells me she’s a teacher. Yes, it’s come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe that’s why Botox is all the rage – if you can’t move your eyebrows, your “eye rolling” can’t be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would “roll my eyes” at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.

Welcome to Alaskan protesting.

They fear her.

Worst governor ever?
She’s got to rank higher than Grey Davis, no?

Most people in Alaska will tell you that Homer isn’t much like Alaska at all. It is often referred to as Homer, California if that gives you any sense of what the place is like.

Can’t see the video Far. Wish I could help.

I think most Palin haters would probably be a lot like this lady if they spent 5 minutes with the Cuda. Most of the venom they spew at the woman isn’t even based in ideology. They almost comes off as fans at a WWF event. Sarah’s the heel and they boo her because that’s what they’ve been programmed to do.

Contrast Palin’s reaction to that of The One with the many protestors he’s confronted.

I got the ENTRANCE question:
Who would you rather have as YOUR Governor, Sarah Palin or Arnold Schwarzenegger?
RealMc on August 9, 2010 at 5:10 PM
Teachers do tend to be more liberal and politic Democrats so yeah, I understand the reaction Sarah Palin has to that bit of news.
So who is running the camera BTW? Was that Palin’s people or the protester?

what is missing is the Sarah Palin answer to the big question the protestor has… which is why did you leave office? As soon as Sarah starts to answer, it is cut out and the video resumes a little later… how long we don’t know and the protestor does not seem as angry.
Could it be that Sarah actually had a good answer?
Could it be that the guy who filmed this, who apparently owns the property where the protest sign is and gave permission to the woman protestor to hang it there, might be a Sarah Palin hater and did not want us to hear her answer?
what was Sarah’s answer to the big question? I would like to hear it.
PhilipJames on August 9, 2010 at 5:12 PM

You know Bristol looks kinda pissed.
She has reason to be I suppose with all the nonsense printed about her, which she has some blame in.

She is probably wearing Bog Boots. they rock and are warm as heck.
upinak on August 9, 2010 at 5:14 PM
Another incoherent protester; and teacher to boot.
RobCon on August 9, 2010 at 5:14 PM
This is really funny, on the part of the lefties. they think they have a scandal, or a gotcha moment with this?
Heck, Sarah practically had the woman ready to set up a sit down over a vanilla latte to talk about all they had in common before it was over with.
Her family and security guy were much more agitated than she was. She was calm, cool and friendly.
Too bad lefties can’t be so open minded and tolerant with their opposition.
Brian1972 on August 9, 2010 at 5:14 PM
OMG! This confrontation was just like the G-8 Protesters in Seattle. Cars burning, windows broken, blood in the streets. /
This was the most respectful protest ever to be caught on camera. Both sides were respectful.
Palin handled it with grace, as usual.
The teacher will be patted on the back in the teachers lounge, and eat 18 donuts and a diet coke, as usual.

Hey – Sarah wasn’t even the worst governor ever anyway.
That honor belongs to Barack Obama…wait. He never was governor of anything. For any length of time. Ever.
No matter. Joe Biden was a formidable governor…huh? he wasn’t either?
Hm. That’s interesting.
Good Lt on August 9, 2010 at 5:22 PM
I remember shortly after the election, when she was in Juneau there was a lefty organized protest across the street from the Governor’s Mansion, about 30-40 people with signs, banners and chanting nonsense.
She came out the door and all by herself walked across the street, right up to the group and asked them point blank what they were so upset about. She talked with them for about 20 minutes, and stuck up for herself in a firm, but nice and friendly way. That is just who she is, and that is the secret to her appeal that many are unable or unwilling to recognize.
Brian1972 on August 9, 2010 at 5:22 PM
It was just Sarah educating a moron. No need to waste battery life and Memorex on that stuff. But the moron did seem to have a different reaction to Sarah after the talk.

By the way, have you all seen a meeting of the lefty Alaska bloggers when they get together in Homer? It’s a hoot.

Deep down inside, If I was Sarah, I would have rolled my eyes. What was cut out of the video was the moron getting an education…something this moron could have easily learned for herself instead of rolling out 50 feet of paper and making a banner.

My take was that the protestor was angry Sarah left and felt abandoned
Pam on August 9, 2010 at 5:33 PM
I remember when Palin resigned her governorship, she kept hush-hush whatever it was she had in mind to do. But she made the point to announce that in their family meeting, her kids said “hell yeah!” to whatever she had asked them for support to do next.
I also remember when Palin made the obvious transference from being the maverick who would endorse best candidates regardless of party affiliation to officially representing the Republican Party by saying that she would only endorse Republican candidates.
Ms. Gustafson obviously feels a legitimate distrust of Palin as a sell out. Perhaps she has a legitimate gripe that Palin quit her governorship IF the current Alaskan Governor is doing a poor job of finishing her term fulfilling her agenda when governor. I think that Gustafson certainly maintained civil manners and moderate vocal inflection, traits that would naturally benefit her teaching skills.
Palin said she quit in order to protect our military interests.
Of course it is understandable that a military member’s mother would keep her son’s welfare in mind always.
But quitting as Governor of Alaska is not prerequisite for supporting the military, or supporting military interests. To actually stipulate “military interests” as a reason so foremost that it came right out, her statement makes clear that indeed she is a passionate neoconservative. She has yet to recognize or admit to problems that the “vast military industrial complex” cause while the military is on political missions.
maverick muse on August 9, 2010 at 5:34 PM
I bet lefties are down on the teacher/protester for being so passive.
darwin on August 9, 2010 at 5:34 PM
So she should be hammered over it, then?
Despite what she said about her family is the truth.
The MFM is determined to have a scandal, even if they have to inflate it out of nothing.
Brian1972 on August 9, 2010 at 5:34 PM
