He’s such a nice person who has worked for so long, why can’t we let him get away with tax evasion, fraud, and blackmailing donations…(paraphrasing here, but this is the gist of the defense given)

Are past actions exculpatory for future crimes? Can anyone tell me what I need to do for the country/whatever to get a freebie bank robbery? I still think that looks like fun (except of course for the lengthy jail sentence).

The CBC needs to remind Obama how Bush stepped in to save Duke Cunningham Ace fighter pilot in Vietnam!

Cunningham became one of the most highly decorated U.S. Navy pilots in the Vietnam War. The first fighter ace of the war, he received the Navy Cross, two Silver Stars, fifteen Air Medals, and the Purple Heart.

Obviously Obama would look really weak if he doesn’t step up and save Rangel, just like Bush did with Duke Cunningham!

I’m certainly no McCain booster (I despise the man, and hold him in just as little regard as any liberal democrat), but wasn’t there a group that claimed (and continue to claim) that McCain should basically be given a free pass on his stupidity, because of his ‘heroic service’? Wasn’t there some that claimed that Murtha was such a superhero, for the same reason? When it was a defense for McCain, it was totally invalid, and people on the left were quick to say that his service should have no bearing on the here-and-now of his piss-poor legislation.

Funny how that doesn’t apply to liberal democrat robber-barons, like Charlie Strangle.

That’s what makes us different from the Third world and what used to be the USSR and a lot of Europe for that matter. We’re so blessed to live here. Let’s not embrace those who would throw away the rule of law in favor of, well, favoritism.
