It wasn’t just the Massholes. It was also the NYC crowd that moved up there and then wanted building moratoriums to keep those people from the city from ruining the country.

Proof of your second point is in “White Christmas” when Bing warns Danny Kaye that they [the citizens of Vermont] may run him out of the state if they find out he is a Dem.

As others have noted, it’s a parasol, NOT an umbrella. In Asian cultures a parasol was used exclusively by royalty. I believe that’s the intent, although I’ve been wrong before. (Just ask Mrs. Leprechaun.)

According to the FEC.gov website, it looks like Len Britton is going to need some more donations to help him defeat Senator Patrick Leahy. http://www.fec.gov/DisclosureSearch/HSRefreshCandList.do?category=stateS_all&stateName=VT&election_yr=2010 As of 6/30 Len Britton has raised $91,1991 compared to Leahy's $3,191,236. I wasn’t aware of it, but Senator Patrick, “Leaky” Leahy is up for reelection this cycle. Granted this is the People’s Democratic Republic of Vermont, but someone is actually running against him…….
