That being said, the primary fault obviously lies with Sherrod’s superiors for taking action without waiting for the facts to be checked. This likely includes the upper tier of the Obama Administration, which tends either to act without forethought or to refrain from passing judgment even when all the evidence has been collected (see Fort Hood shootings).

Below that, I think some blame can be shared with the NAACP and Breitbart, though he has certainly proved his worth in many other ways. Fox acted with some restraint in their broadcast, but internet activity (including on the blogosphere) has always followed the pattern of act first, ask questions later–a necessary evil of the information age, perhaps.

Now Ms. Sherrod, as deserving as she might be of praise for her story of redemption, nevertheless falls far short of heroic in her reflexive victimhood mantra. Why no one can simply say “Hey, apology accepted” these days is a mystery to me.

They are going to need to motivate the black racists (sorry, Race Card, they do exist in ever-increasing numbers) and try to reconstitute the shame of the white guilt trippers who helped put the jug-eared sh*t-stain over the top in 2008. Since the economy sucks so badly, unemployment is high and our children’s futures belong to the company store, all under the leadership of Obama and the Democrats (good name for a crappy garage band that can neither sing nor play), they have to grasp this straw and hope it holds. Yes, they will still use the “blame Bush” gambit, but that’s getting a little threadbare. I don’t think they care that crying “racism” diminishes real examples of racism. They are desperate and desperation breeds mistakes.

When I am engaged with liberals they refer me to a Countdown segment where Bill O. denies that Fox ever reported that there was jail time for not having health insurance. Then he shows clips of Fox reporters saying just that.

If I were Fox, unless I needed to fill time, I would handle MSNBC like the media handles Fox. I would ignore them except to dismiss them.

From my limited travels in the ideological morass, I have begun to believe that the same weapons (or the same type)used on the last administraton are being used on Fox. There is even a worry that left leaning folks tune into Fox and discover a really cool delivery of excellent reportage. I have had a brain dead lib curse me for encouraging Fax watching since they often have a better message and more fun than any other network. Now imagine you are the left…

Another question per his insistence that what Fox did with the tape was “absolutely racist”: Is Dean suggesting that O’Reilly and Hannity wouldn’t have aired an embarrassing excerpt from a speech delivered by a white liberal? I recall Glenn Beck having a field day with that clip of the very white Anita Dunn talking about Mao. The liberal line on Fox, I thought, is that they’ll use any weapon to hand to attack the left and Obama, not just lefty minorities. This one’s more effective, I guess, however true or untrue it may be.

This is a perfect example of why AP is really a conservative, in spite of the criticism he sometimes gets. The left doesn’t care so much about whether an accusation is true, just whether it’s effective. Charging racism is a political tactic above all else.

The people who actually care about whether or not the charge is true are at least potential voters for conservatives.

That’s bad news for him, and for the GOP in general. Newt would be great in the Cabinet, but these race stories help make him toxic in a general election.

The left runs with their template, and facts don’t matter. They never did matter. How do Democrats get elected? By saying the GOP wants to take food away from the old and the poor. They say the GOP doesn’t care about our children. But it’s not the GOP who destroys the future of our children in favor of currying favor with the teacher’s unions. The GOP didn’t make a deal with the AMA and the insurance companies to pass a bill and then install a man who’s in love with NICE.
