Chris Wallace to Howard Dean: Why are you blaming Fox for what happened to Sherrod?

posted at 3:30 pm on July 25, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Mediaite. Sure, it’s technically true that Fox didn’t air Breitbart’s Sherrod video until after she’d resigned, but Dean-o’s after Larger Truths here. A mystery: If he’s intent on pushing this line in order to score a few points on the enemy in the last few hours of this week’s Sherrod news cycle, why on earth would he do it on Fox? CNN would have let him get away with it and MSNBC would have cheered him on. Instead, by trying it on Wallace, he walks into a rhetorical doorknob.

Another question per his insistence that what Fox did with the tape was “absolutely racist”: Is Dean suggesting that O’Reilly and Hannity wouldn’t have aired an embarrassing excerpt from a speech delivered by a white liberal? I recall Glenn Beck having a field day with that clip of the very white Anita Dunn talking about Mao. The liberal line on Fox, I thought, is that they’ll use any weapon to hand to attack the left and Obama, not just lefty minorities. This one’s more effective, I guess, however true or untrue it may be.

My theory here is that Howlin’ Howie has been pretty much out of the picture for a while, and so as to prove to the masses that he has not reached the level of being irrelevent, he comes on Fox News and does what he does best, namely make wild accusations and plays a merry round of the Blame Game.

His mistake was attempting to pull this stunt while being interviewed by Chris Wallace, who put the kabosh on what Howie was trying to do here real quick!

This why I highly doubt Howie will be showing up again on Fox anytime in the near future.

However, I am more than assured he will carry on his rant fest here tomorrow night on MSNBC, which is pretty much his philosophical home turf anyway.

It was difficult enough to sit through Dean’s nonsense and then watch Jesse Jackson on the next segment. Fox needs to be called out on its deliberate attempt (and their succeeding) of proving how absolutely foolish and irrelevant the Democratic party has become! Howard Dean and Jesse Jackson were set up! Fox hates the Democrats! The questions were unfair!

What’s really amazing is listening to Saint Sherrod bitch about the fact that “Fox kept calling trying to interview me.” It apparently doesn’t dawn on her that, unlike her employer and the NAACP (who invited her to speak at the dinner and had copies of the full tapes, of course), the racists at Fox were actually going to allow her to give her side of the story.

BuzzCrutcher on July 25, 2010 at 3:57 PM

I couldn’t get over how Dean stammered when Wallace kept asking him whether Dean understood that no one on Fox ran the clip until after she’d been fired. Dean demonstrated that he didn’t even know the facts. Too bad Wallace didn’t also point out Beck actually devoted half a show the next day supporting him. Also, too bad that Wallace didn’t throw the Howard Kurtz coverage at Dean too along with information that the head (Clemente?) of Fox’s hard news divison told his people to keep their mitts off the story until it was confirmed. I would have loved seeing Dean cornered by those facts. He might’ve started telling us that he caught the guys who stole the strawberries.

Why “technically”? It’s just true.

Dean’s “larger truth” is the larger narrative, the big lie — that is, “Racists!” He has nothing else. They have nothing else. You will hear nothing else. This was predictable as soon as Obama signed his first piece of legislation and greased the skids of his own end. They’ve never had, promoted or instituted a policy that produced anything but ruin, so there you go. In the end, there would be nothing left for the Left but “the attack.” “Racists” is merely the most easily applicable one, the one with the greatest traditional payoff and lowest threshold of proof. Lazy, debased, ruinous, slanderous, eternally repetitious — the Left, in a nutshell.

More proof that so many of the left are completely incompetent.
The libs get away with so much just because they have a willing media covering for them. How many of them would be laying on the floor crying and sucking their thumbs if tomorrow all of the mainstream media suddenly turned into real news organizations. Hounding them and calling them out every time they made a stupid remark, inaccurate statement or outright lie! I still remember that clip of Pelosi struggling to look for her notes in front of the cameras, looking like an Alzheimer’s patient who had escaped from the clinic during her 5 minutes of confrontation with the media. Of course, that didn’t last very long. The media took care of their own.

So I guess her story about the black community helping the black community and her working to stop the sale of a farm that eventually led to a white man

“eventually get the 62 acres of the 550 acres. And guess what, they already have a white man line up to buy it, and it is the land on the creek which is what he wanted.”

Is not racist. If those 2 cousins from the north would have found black buyers for the farm would she have stepped in and “found 2 honest lawyers, they were white” to stop the sale? If this had happened up north and there was a white family bickering over a farm, and a black man came in and tried to buy it and was prevented from doing so, or severely restricted in what he finally got, would it be racism?

See the full tape at around the 33.13 mark. Around the 35.00 mark is where she says what the white man will eventually get.

slickwillie2001 on July 25, 2010 at 4:17 PM

Oh- and I would like Ms Sherrod to clarify what ” a drop of death on that farm” means. Does she mean that in the whole time this black family held the farm that no cattle died? people died? Because that would be incredible. She should have that farm checked out for being the source of the fountain of youth. If she meant it a different way? That a white man never held a single acre of that land- that white man is “a drop of death” then she is clearly racist.

I mean its not like she is working for an organization that is in charge of accepting or rejecting requests for money from outfits like her husband is in charge of.

It’s not like she has ever said things like Integration was the worst thing that happened to blacks.

It’s not like she thinks the Federal Government’s job is make sure black farmers never lose their land.

It’s not like her and her husband got a massive settlement from the government department she now works for.

Let me get this straight, Dean attacks Fox for being racist for airing a clip of an individual, after the individual has resigned at the behest of the White House on the premise that the White House is afraid of Fox and Glen Beck, which the White House does before it even reviews the full context of the clip and circumstances.

Bottom line, Dean falsely accuses Fox of racism while totally ignoring (my assumption, I didn’t watch the show)the spinelessness and cowardice of his own party sitting in the White House.

I sure wouldn’t want the White House responsible for having my back, or Dean make official judgments regarding anything related to my life. And those Journolist talking points seem to just have a life of their own now.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe auction signs are used mainly when a farm has fallen into debt and has to be sold.

journeyintothewhirlwind on July 25, 2010 at 4:47 PM

That is correct.

“Rhetorical doorknob”? More like a rhetorical buzzsaw.

The right, except for Cristie and Brewer, are bereft of either ideas or steely balls. If they possess one they lack the other. The lefties need to be pelted with both, on-going.

Bobby Jindal doesn’t seem to need help in the steely ball department.
Christie/Jindal 2012!

This guy may have been smart enough to go to college and then on to medical school. He may have been smart enough back then (30 years ago). At this moment in time, it is becoming more apparent that he – and a number of other prominent socialists – are becoming psychologically unraveled. Their rants are becoming more incoherent as time passes and the facts are mounting in multiple areas showing these a$$hats for the racist, elitist demogogues they are. Someone mentioned way back up the blog they – the socialists – are in for a rude awakening. I think it’s going to be a whole lot worse than rude for these seditionists. I pray it will, starting in November!!

Then she begins that whole segment talking about how blacks used to own 15 million acres and it is down to 2 million and they sold “for nothing”.

I believe her whole interest in helping this aunt was to keep a black farm in black hands. That she wouldn’t have stepped in and found these lawyers if there had been black families willing and able to buy it.

And she says – recently- and -eventually get- so I am assuming this is within her time at the USDA. So a government employee stepped in and found a way to restrict a white man from buying all of this land. If this happened with a white family and a black man was restricted from buying a piece of land he was capable of buying- would it be racism?

GINGRICH: I have on occasion sided with the NAACP’s characterizations. All I’m suggesting, and I think it’s very worrisome to people: If the Obama Administration is this afraid of Glenn Beck, how do they deal with the Iranians? I mean, if, if they a news show forces this level of…

DEAN: There may be some similarities, Newt. There may be some similarities.

It’s too bad Wallace didn’t have time to grill Dean on this.

“Howard, can you name one similarity Fox has with Iran?

Is Fox pursuing nuclear weapons?
Has Fox threatened to wipe any country off the map?

Is Fox funding, arming, and training terrorists that kill innocent civilians and US soldiers?

Is Fox shooting its opposition in the streets?

Is Fox jailing and torturing its opposition?

Is Fox advocating a global totalitarian theocracy?

Does Fox advocate the stoning of adulterous women, or the murder of homosexuals”

etc.. etc.

Thanks for posting this! Incredible video!

From the movie:
Up until 1960, most African Americans were Republican. After Martin Luther King was freed by John F. Kennedy, the African American vote has gone Democrat. What did we get in exchange for out 95% Democrat swaying vote?

-14 million black babies have died since 1973.

-72% of children born out of wedlock.

-40% of jailed inmates are black.

This is what this party (Democrat) has given on a platter to African Americans.”
