Thankfully I sued him and won back my freedom and about $13 million dollars.

So we’ve noticed.

Yet, it’s the truth.

Even the “expanded” video doesn’t change the fact that she:
- twice (using present tense) accused the farmer of being racist (“thought he was better than me”)
- referred to the white lawyer (again, in the present tense) of being one of their “kind”
- never apologized for those characterizations and never indicated that she felt bad about them
- that she didn’t help the guy because of her realization that what she was doing was wrong, but she “helped” him because she was worried that he might be an undercover agent

In the “expanded” video, we also get:
- blanket assertions of racism toward the GOP and Fox News
- a reaffirmation that it IS about black vs. white (“That’s when I realized it wasn’t about black & white; I mean it IS about black & white.”)

Since then, she:
- has not only NOT forgiven Breitbart, but she has attacked him as a vicious racist who wants the world to return back to slavery
- reinforced her view that the Tea Party and GOP and Fox News is racist

Yeah, SHE’S the victim here! /sarc /rolleyes

If she was “victimized”, she did it to herself.

Breitbart was correct all along.

FYI: At minute 21:00 exactly it skips. This is supposedly the NAACP’s “full video” account.

She said she did what her job asks her to do by eventually helping the farmer despite her racist tendencies.

She also said it with racist overtones. (i.e. racists at NAACP like Breitbart’s clip showed)

It was supposed to be inspiring but it was still racist, and the NAACP crowd still cheered at her racist remarks.

The speech later turned to Marxism and calling everyone racist for opposing Obama’s agenda. I know, so much better right?

Too bad the Administration acted stupidly in:

- asking her to resign,
- accepting the resignation,
- realizing it might have been a mistake to do that,
- groveling to her and offering her a brandy-new job,
- the POTUS having a phone chat with her at her request,
- now coming out with this bit of racial insanity.

Someone acted stupidly. Quite a few of them conservatives in the media, but mainly those in the Administration.

Andrew Breitbart did not, at any time, act stupidly. Those who couldn’t be bothered to read his article, watch BOTH clips and understand HIS context. Which was not about Sherrod but the NAACP.

He owes no one an apology for any of this.

The Administration could have done the RIGHT THING and let normal procedures run their course, which would have given everyone breathing room… but stupidity prevailed. Knee-jerk reactionism succeeded on the right and left when calm heads and rational thought should have stepped in to cause further examination of all aspects of this. It is almost like Breitbart had some idea of exactly the way this would go due to the way the reactions times from the left on racism have gone to zero… and the ever-ready apologists on the right then kicked in to not examine things in detail and ask: what the hell is going on with all this?

Now we can get to the ‘teachable moment’ on the right.

Think before speaking.

It worked for Breitbart.

There are reasons I am not a conservative.

No, it was fake. The video itself didn’t show racism. She may be one, but that video was not proof of it anymore than Rather’s memogate was proof of Bush’s wrongdoing.

The video unquestionably showed racism, though the full speech showed she was trying to move past it. Yes, overall, the full context made her look better than the original video. But she still said several things that would easily be recognized as racist if said by a white woman.

I understand that people felt bad because she lost her job, and that they wanted to defend her because she wasn’t as bad a racist as they first thought. But it was foolish to jump on that impulse, because Breitbart proved exactly what he set out to prove: that the NAACP was passing a resolution against racism in the tea party, but their own hands were not clean.

Imagine, if you will, a nice, pleasant middle-aged white woman addressing a tea party somewhere, talking about how she used to work at the unemployment office, and when a black man came in to find work, she didn’t send him to the best job openings because she figured he should go to his own kind for help, and she kept thinking of all those young white men who were unemployed. But she gets feeling guilty about it, and decides to help him the next time he comes in. Because even though he’s black, he still needs a job.

That would be the equivalent of Shirley Sherrod’s speech. You might want to defend such a white woman because she did right in the end. But her statements about preferring to help white men and wanting black men to go “to their own kind” would of course indicate racism, even if she did ultimately do her job. And if you tried to claim the video didn’t prove she was racist, you would deserve to be mocked.

And I can guarantee you that if such a tape surfaced, it would immediately be used as proof that the tea parties were full of racists.

You can defend this woman if you want to. You can even say she wasn’t treated well. But don’t blame Breitbart for posting a video that showed racism exactly as he said it did.
