Video: Bachmann introduces the new House Tea Party Caucus
posted at 4:56 pm on July 21, 2010 by Allahpundit
CNN’s got the membership roster; scroll down and take a gander. Interestingly, despite all the press the movement’s gotten for being populated by women, there’s only one woman on the list right now aside from Bachmann herself. Also, shockingly, no Ron Paul, who’s not only considered a godfather of the movement by some but whose own son has been talking up the idea of a similar caucus in the Senate. (Perhaps indicative of GOP candidates wanting to distance themselves from the brand a bit, Marco Rubio seems lukewarm to the idea.) Maybe Paul’s playing the role of the indie band that refuses to join the big corporate label because he doesn’t want to “sell out.” Authenticity.
Here’s the presser, which is light on congresscritters and heavy on actual grassroots tea partiers. Enjoy the attention, Bachmann, because the RINOs are coming to getcha. Exit question via Powerline: Are tea partiers perhaps a little too, er, “authentic” in their choice of primary candidates? (Exit answer via PPP: Maybe!)

Despite Ron Paul’s odd ruminations about Israeli influence, I’m willing to cut him a little bit of slack because he wants to abolish the Fed. Ann Coulter, who is a real conservative, has said that she agrees with Ron Paul completely on economic issues.

Well, your first reaction sounded like it was necessarily detrimental…using the “d” word (i.e. divisive) is never helpful these days. (lol)
The Caucus is merely to provide a conduit into the House for Tea Party concerns.
It will help (I hope and theoretically) to keep Congress, and more particularly Republican and conservative members of Congress, honest.
If anyone can keep it honest and accountable, it’s Michele Bachmann.
My Congressman’s on the TPC, too, and I like him immensely and feel he not only listens to Tea Party concerns now but votes like a real conservative, too, as does Bachmann.

Okay – let me explain the TPC for those who either not analytical enough – or just refuse to “get it”.
TPC isn’t a mouthpiece for the Tea Party. Why, is the CBC a mouth piece for African Americans? I don’t think so.
The TPC is simply a caucus of congressmen and women who are stating that they are willing to work for the “goals” of the tea party. What are the goals of the Tea Party? Well Bachmann states what they are clearly in the video.
The TPC will also, I’m sure – serve as a Congressional conduit for other Tea Party concerns that arise – as they arise.
Politically – it’s pretty clear to me that the TPC, (which is mostly if not all Republican) is also an effort by Conservative Republicans to do something positive for the GOP by tapping into the great enthusiasm of the grassroots. Yeah – I know, this so wrong isn’t it? I mean – we need more GOP’ers like Mike Steele and the rest of the RNC to keep ISOLATING and tamping down that grassroots enthusiasm – don’t we?
Also – the TPC is something pretty clever. The idea for the TPC was formulated by lawmakers in the GOP who agree that establishment Republicans are responsible for the sad state of the GOP today … for our utter losses in ’06 and ’08 … and responsible, right alongside Democrats – for our horrendous National Debt. The established republicans WILL NOT join the TPC. So this is a great way for Republicans who agree with the grassroots – to identify, FOR THE GRASSROOTS – who the good guys are.
The guys wearing the TPC jersey will be the ones getting the $$ from the grassroots.
Pretty smart.
The ones NOT wearing the jersey? Well they can go to Mike Steele and the RNC for their $$. Oh … uhm … well, I guess they can’t ….
Since the RNC is pretty much broke.

Ron Paul = RINO of one of the worst stripes, with absolutely no Honor.
ditto for Walter Jones who is in this caucus btw.

A) With this FAUX factual statement (“implications” are powerful, too), Allahpundit discredits himself from any further observations on the 2012 race.
B) BURN IN HELL, ALLAHPUNDIT.
C) I nominate Allahpundit as the David Frum of the 2012 election cycle, and invite him down the same toilet.

theres some what a moratorium on ron paul bashing(actually Exposing) I think till after the election in mainstream conservative blogs, outlets, etc.
There are some(ignorant) conservatives and mushy swing independents who like both say Palin and Paul(i.e. the non Paul lunatics) who are focused on “Small Govt.”, etc. Afraid a seeming ‘civil war’ will merely aid the Dems. In reality, Paul shouldn’t have the R beside his name to begin with.
Check out the Barney Frank, Ron Paul(and Walter Jones) bill to gut the military in every McGovern, pinko commie wish list of a way. Barely a peep out of conservative blogs and news outlets on that one.

what Paul wants to do politically, and he’s stated this and putting forth alot of money and time, is to re-make the base of the GOP in his image(not going to happen, but can be the perception in some places). Which is a completely unrealistic, with no specific how-to’s domestically and a Utopian leftist dream on Foreign Policy and Size of the Military, etc. He’s focused on 2 things: Isolationist rhetoric combined with the “We can’t afford it, must slash military” and “End the Fed”(which is dangerous in its own right, also not going to happen).
I think C4L has paid off Doug Wead also, to have a Historian of note for his 2012 run and he will try to piggy back off Rand winning, making it look like it was all due to his positions and name recognition.

Rick Santelli was the impetus behind the Tea Parties, PERIOD. His rant heard ’round the world just gave the Paulians something mainstream to attempt to glom onto and claim as their own (witness the “ooh, Ron Paul had the first Tea Party in 2007″ line in evidence here).
And what’s with the nastiness, there, Lockstein13? Am I missing a well established, late evening poke at Allah pattern, or are you really just a d!ck?
tree hugging sister on July 21, 2010 at 7:45 PM
I guess I don’t get the power of the caucus. Why should I give a sh*t to put it bluntly about a Tea Party caucus?
What does it accomplish except maybe a chance for McCain like poseurs to adopt a populist mantle?
Conan on July 21, 2010 at 7:52 PM
@ THS
“What’s with the nastiness?”!
Day after day, a Bullhorned Dweezil/Borat leaves drop after drop of alternately
A) Tea Party contempt
and
B) Clinton-on-a-blue-dress like stains on Romney…
…and you STILL wonder at the offense?!
“I’m shocked! SHOCKED!”
Lockstein13 on July 21, 2010 at 7:57 PM
@ THS
p.s. I post mostly mornings (re: your comment about a “well established, late evening poke”), so I can only guess you’re defending AP out of other reasons.
Pathetic.
Lockstein13 on July 21, 2010 at 8:00 PM
@THS
Oh, yes:
This isn’t “about” Allahpundit, me or you…
…but about the Tea Party and the United States of America.
I just try to speak up when I see disparaging and/or unfounded, misleading remarks on the matter…and IMHO the author has quite a large bullhorn (i.e. needs to exercise more responsibility).
Lockstein13 on July 21, 2010 at 8:09 PM
Good start with some known conservatives. If they retain and espouse common sense, their ranks will surely grow.
College Prof on July 21, 2010 at 8:34 PM
@Lockstein
I think you’re forgetting the simple FACT that ALLAH’s your HOST, not some asshole you met at a bar. You couldn’t possibly lighten up, Francis?
Speaking up is one thing, disagreeing is all American, BUT being impossibly RUDE to the person allowing you to express your opinion to begin with is the pinnacle of douchedom.
That’s all.

My Congressman, Erik Paulsen MN-03, new to congress in 2008, has seemed a bit rino-ish, so I called asking if he would be joining Michelle Bachmann’s Tea Party caucus. Paulsen will not be joining the Tea Party caucus, I was informed that Paulsen belonged to a couple bipartisan caucuses and was working very hard with moonbat progressive MN Senator Amy Klobuchar on some medical deal and thus he didn’t want to upset the Democrat overlords.
One more vote for John Galt in MN-03 this fall.

@Lockstein13
Oh. So you are just a d!ck then. What a shame, then. Just another ill-mannered, self appointed boob who thinks that because Allah ~ who happens to be your HOST, mind you ~ gets one helluva a discussion going that you have carte blanche to abuse both his hospitality and good nature with your completely over the top (“Burn in hell”? WHERE do you get off?), hateful BS. I’m not sure who annointed you the avenging angel of the conservative/Tea Party/wrapped-in-the-BY-GOD-AMERICAN-FLAG label, but they should be shot. Or maybe you just got a sword and annointed yourself ~ like, got a kit off the internet or something. I know people do it. But really, you give ‘conservatives’ a bad name with unhinged sh!t like that, so stop. YOU need to exercise some damned responsibility.
As for asking when you posted, I was kinda hoping maybe it was a long established dinking thing between you two. I stand corrected. My bad.
Oh. One more thing ~ your incoherent “pathetic”? Que? It’s called “MANNERS”. But BITE ME, anyway!
tree hugging sister on July 21, 2010 at 9:04 PM
My congressman anders crenshaw no where to be found as usual. Cindy Mumford you need to run for congress so we can get rid of that guy.
peacenprosperity on July 21, 2010 at 9:15 PM
Have you read You Don’t Need A Weatherman To Know Which Way The Wind Blows (1969)? There it states one of the goals of the Marxists within our nation is to overextend our military to help induce collapse.
Are you not seeing this happen before your eyes?
True_King on July 21, 2010 at 9:41 PM
Good Job (Next Speaker of House) Michelle Bachman.
AH_C on July 21, 2010 at 10:08 PM
It surely thinks it is, and wants to be, and that influences what its members believe, and how they behave. That’s why I don’t think this is a great idea. But I don’t think it’ll be a disaster either.
YehuditTX on July 22, 2010 at 2:56 AM
Is Lookstein the same as Lonewackodotcom? Sounds like him.
YehuditTX on July 22, 2010 at 2:58 AM
Or I think it was Lone Wacko at 24ahead.com. I can never remember, that guy has a sockpuppet collection to fill a drawer.
YehuditTX on July 22, 2010 at 2:59 AM
Right there on page 2 of Ayres’ and Dorn’s manifesto. Funny that.
And there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.
