Obama’s weekly radio address: Do as I say, not as I do

posted at 5:15 pm on July 17, 2010 by Diane Suffern

Taking time out of his hectic vacation schedule, President Obama used his weekly radio address to chide Senate Republicans for their clandestine use of a…constitutionally-afforded right to challenge legislation.  Says Obama:

“But again and again, the partisan minority in the Senate said no.  They used procedural tactics to block an up or down vote.” (Emphasis mine.)

Curious, isn’t it?  Obama decries Republican use of “procedural tactics” as evasive obstructionism, yet just last week he used his own “procedural tactic” to slip in his 18th recess appointment, Donald Berwick.

Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) delivered the Republican weekly address, targeting Obama’s avoidance of confirmation hearings for his latest controversial appointee:

So, let’s review.  Republicans employing a standard Congressional tool to force debate or stall a vote on new legislation = Bad.  Obama appointing another czar by employing an executive privilege to avoid debate and evade a vote = Perfectly kosher; what the hell is your problem you partisan hacks?

Know the rules.

What was it Hayworth said? I wish you had campaigned this hard against Obama? No truer words spoken. I was lukewarm at best about McCain but voted for him anyway because I saw (as anyone who had a room temperature IQ likewise saw) that ‘fundamentally changing America’ meant exactly that.

I hope whoever the R’s put up for 2012 is already getting ready for what’s coming. If she doesn’t succeed, the American experiment is finished. Obama was exactly what the Founders rebelled against.

That way he can forget what he said last and just concentrate on what lie he wants to tell now. Not a very becoming trait for a US president.

Silver tounged RINO’s who get all bowed up and conservative at campaign time then once elected let their greedy self serving natures shine through. Mr. Open Transparency forgets all the back-room deals the Democrats used to pass ObamaCare. Did the Obama administration ever produce documents requested by Issa concerning job offers to Sestak & Romanoff? Speaking of “procedural tactics”, Obama’s own party, the Democrat majority, has failed to pass a budget! Putting party before country (during the worst recession since 1930′s) the Democrats refuse to vote on a budget, lest it hurt them in the mid-term elections.

Here’s another one of our Arshole in Chief’s lies.

WASHINGTON — When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

His problem is he’s letting Congress draft all this legislation hoping the get 3 Republicans. If he drafted it looking for 20 Republicans, he’d be such a winner they’d be sitting on easy street during this election. Ironically, when you’re being governed by a community organizer, you can’t expect too much out of them.
