Sheila Jackson Lee: “Today we have two Vietnams, side by side”

posted at 7:53 pm on July 15, 2010 by Allahpundit

Another modern history lesson from a woman who once wondered why the Pathfinder didn’t take a photo of the American flag that Neil Armstrong planted on Mars in 1969. The clip comes via Moe Lane, who notes that she does correctly identify the number of American troops killed in action — which, er, cuts against the possibility that she’s simply confusing ‘Nam with Korea in her two-state model.

If you think this clip’s depressing, brace yourself: It’s not even the dumbest thing she said today.

Update: Moe e-mails to point out that Lee did know the score on Vietnam as recently as 10 years ago. To borrow a favorite White House phrase, perhaps she simply spoke, er, “inartfully” here?

So, using NAACP logic, this means that the Democratic Party is ignorant, uneducated and inarticulate.

Please give to the Sheila Jackson Leediot Geography Scholarship Fund: A mind is a terrible thing.

pish. Come on. Clearly she’s not talking about two different countries with people who “all look the same”.

She means the Dakotas.

Duh.

This lady is a very good example of what is wrong with quota systems. No doubt- she got into Yale, a very liberal college, and the University of Va. Law School under the quota system for minorities. She has also been credited with the remark something to the effect- if you remove the sheet from the KKK- you find a tea party member. Gee, all these years we were led to believe that Sen.Robert Bryd was a democrat. Guess when the sheet was removed from him- he was a member of the tea party movement.

flintstone on July 16, 2010 at 9:28 AM

Considering the NAACP brought the White Citizens Council into their rant against the Tea Party movement, nothing surprises me at all.

I mean, seriously, they accuse the Tea Party movement of being nothing more than an arm of the Republican Party on one hand, but then compare it to racist organization formed by a group of Democrats on the other.

They just say whatever they hope will float with their constituency. And their constituency is obvious. Furthering racial tensions is their payday. If racial harmony existed, think of all of the people out of a job.

Imagine the deep intellectual knowledge her voting base posesses. Morons elect morons. You would think there were a few smart people in her district, but not so.

A mind ids a terrible thing to waste, like the minds of the students that earned the right to the spots she was given in her higher education.

Spread the wealth around.

How has that manifested itself?

1. Seizure of the auto industry
2. Seizure of the banking industry
3. Seizure of the medical industry
4. Control of the media
etc.

Apparently, the term “wealth” has multiple meanings. Lets hope it doesn’t extend to intelligence. Otherwise, I envision a day when smart people have to line up and have some of their brains sucked out and shared with stupid people.

So she is appealing to help the troops and veterans, but because she is on the wrong side you call her an idiot.
Well, I call her an idiot too, because she is on the wrong side.
You know, Conservatives don’t love America.

The left has earned its reputation of disdain for America, its founding ideals, its people and institutions, for the Constitution and our history, through examples literally too numerous to state.

It was the left, not the right, that produced Bill Ayers and Ward Churchill. It was the Left, not the right, that excused and covered for and even cooperated with the destructive Soviet regime, as far as the leftist “Lion of the Senate” offering secret aid and support to the Soviets in the 80s.

It was the left, not the right, that opposed the Civil Rights Act, that supported Eugenics (Good Old Margaret Sanger), that was riddled with idiots saying America “deserved” 9/11 and…. well, that’s enough for now.

Your assertion is hollow, its converse is overfilled. Do you know what that makes you?

Mr. Grump on July 16, 2010 at 1:27 PM

While I am *sure* that Sheila Jackson Lee holds the general U.S. citizenry in low contempt, I am even more sure that she is an “effing idiot”.

There’s no justification for persons such as herself to occupy seats in Congress (or anything else in Congress).

There HAS to be some sort of profiency exam in these contemporary times of anyone voting under any circumstances, as to who they elect. The nation is suffering from an ongoing spate in Congress of clearly incompetent persons.

Lourdes on July 16, 2010 at 8:31 PM

“proficiency exam” not “profiency exam” ^^

Ha, funny typo.

All of those in government must take the solemn oath of office, which requires they swear to uphold the constitution and protect U.S. from our enemies domestic or foreign.

But, it never ceases to amaze me how the left tries to undo their promise using military action/history to garner support or opposition for legislation or policies to reduce the military’s ability to protect U.S. from our enemies domestic or foreign.

And Rep. Jackson-Lee is number one on the list of those who basically mumble/fumble their way through their oath because they have no intent to uphold that portion of the oath.

I think to uphold an oath, one must first Understand the oath taken.

Those were prepared remarks too. Which likely means she had one or more other people review them. This kind of idiocy is really inexcusable in the internet age. It takes two seconds to google and discover the number of Viet Nams on the planet.

It’s really sad that this idiocy is going to be forever stored in the congressional record.

“Your assertion is hollow, its converse is overfilled. Do you know what that makes you?”

This retort was outstanding up until the last part. The body of you argument was suffice, you just let a little pathos well up where it was unnecessary.
Other than that very good points. what a shame this piece, just troll bait for those souls with anti black resentment.
Obviously she as I still feel there are ‘Two’ Vietnams. The communist one and the one the Democrats betrayed.
