What does Sarah’s son-in-law have to do with her?
Nothing.
She’ll set a place for him at the table for Thanksgiving.
And her grandson will have a live-in, responsible father.
End of story.

Jenfidel on July 16, 2010 at 12:42 AM

Never mind “The Media” already had their chance with him, that didn’t help them destroy Sarah Palin so why, now that he’s recanted would it help them any better.

If she is wise, she stays out of presidential politics and rallies the troops around a real conservative who can make it happen.rickyricardo on July 15, 2010 at 11:05 PM

I wish that was the case, Jen. But, she’s 1. A conservative. and B. Sarah Palin.
The media will MAKE it a story. And, her daughter going to the tabloids before talking to her parents doesn’t help.

*Executive experience
*Rock-ribbed conservative
*Charismatic

Lots of names get tossed around as potential 2012 candidates, but when you look for all of those qualities in one person, the list is actually very short.

Palin, Rick Perry, Jindal… Jan Brewer maybe? …aaaand that’s about it. If none of these people run, I may have to start smoking again. I guess I’d support whoever Palin endorsed.

Male harlot? Patty Reagan posed naked in Playboy. I don’t know how much more a child can embarrass a POTUS.

Johnston has already admitted lying/stretching the truth in his earlier forays into tabloid journalism. His credibility is totally shot. And, it’s a sure bet that he’ll have bare, minimal contact with the Palin’s, if that, which gives him no new info to sell.

I’m kinda hoping that DeMint and Pence toss their hats into the ring as well. There are some dynamic people out there who are working right now to make a difference and get the GOP back on track and back to its core principles and foundations. Anyone who ran in 2008 is just part of the old establishment that is part of the problem. I hope they bow out and let those who are actively working to change things now step up and continue their wonderful progress.

AnninCA on July 15, 2010 at 11:35 PM

Au contraire – from a very smart psychologist

Act One is over. The stimulus, Obamacare, financial reform have exhausted his first-term mandate. It will bear no more heavy lifting. And the Democrats will pay the price for ideological overreaching by losing one or both houses, whether de facto or de jure. The rest of the first term will be spent consolidating these gains (writing the regulations, for example) and preparing for Act Two.

The next burst of ideological energy — massive regulation of the energy economy, federalizing higher education and “comprehensive” immigration reform (i.e., amnesty) — will require a second mandate, meaning reelection in 2012.

That’s why there’s so much tension between Obama and congressional Democrats. For Obama, 2010 matters little. If Democrats lose control of one or both houses, Obama will probably have an easier time in 2012, just as Bill Clinton used Newt Gingrich and the Republicans as the foil for his 1996 reelection campaign.

Obama is down, but it’s very early in the play. Like Reagan, he came here to do things. And he’s done much in his first 500 days. What he has left to do he knows must await his next 500 days — those that come after reelection.

The real prize is 2012. Obama sees far, farther than even his own partisans. Republicans underestimate him at their peril.

I just hope we nominate someone who can win. If Palin can win, then awesome. If the fanboys get her the nomination and then she tanks in the general, then she will be permanently damaged and her supporters will have lost all credibility. Oh and that complete disaster Obama will still be in charge.

WisCon on July 15, 2010 at 11:35 PM

You should go back and look at her career, her entire career, and her REAL record.

Sarah has a record of winning elections. Not just winning, but winning in landslides. She won when everyone said it was impossible.

The only races she ever lost, was for Lt Governor, but she did so well she was appointed to one of the most important jobs in the state, and of course VP, which was the idiot McCain team’s fault. Had they let Sarah be Sarah, we just might have a President McCain right now.

Sarah won’t commit until next year. Right now she is focused on 2012, unlike that worthless COWARD Mitt Romney, who only cares about himself, and being POTUS.

Not even sure if she knows yet, but if she runs, she wins. This is why walking turds like Romney have been sniping at her for over a year through surrogates. Romney is the kind of sniveling sh!t who will smile at you to your face, shake your hand, and stab you in the back, all the same time.

But Willard isn’t man enough to attack someone straight up. He’s a weasel.

Sarah will most likely announce she’s running on Reagan’s birthday, but for her there is absolutely no hurry. The second she enters the race, it’s all over. She’ll have to earn it, of course, and the field will be crowded. But Sarah will easily take out all of the wannabes.

Again, right now, for her, it’s all about 2010. She knows 2012 will take care of itself.

Levi went astray and now he’s back and he’s sorry and he’s marrying the mother of his child whom he’s probably loved all along and who loves him.
I really fail to see the drama or the “trashiness” here.
Other than the fact that the baby was conceived out of wedlock when they were both still minors, it’s really not that unusual a situation.
Millions of Americans either been conceived in such a situation and/or gotten married to their high school sweetheart who got them in the family way.

Some of you need to grow up!

You might wanna check this out:

“Obama learned his lesson well. I am proud to see that my father’s model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008.

It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.” –Letter from L. DAVID ALINSKY, son of Neo-Marxist Saul Alinsky

Obama helped fund ‘Alinsky Academy’: “The Woods Fund, a nonprofit on which Obama served as paid director from 1999 to December 2002, provided startup funding and later capital to the Midwest Academy….

Obama sat on the Woods Fund board alongside William Ayers, founder of the Weather Underground domestic terrorist organization….

‘Midwest describes itself as ‘one of the nation’s oldest and best-known schools for community organizations, citizen organizations and individuals committed to progressive social change.’… Midwest teaches Alinsky tactics of community organizing.”

Hillary, Obama and the Cult of Alinsky: “True revolutionaries do not flaunt their radicalism, Alinsky taught. They cut their hair, put on suits and infiltrate the system from within.

Alinsky viewed revolution as a slow, patient process. The trick was to penetrate existing institutions such as churches, unions and political parties….

Many leftists view Hillary as a sell-out because she claims to hold moderate views on some issues. However, Hillary is simply following Alinsky’s counsel to do and say whatever it takes to gain power.

“Obama is also an Alinskyite…. Obama spent years teaching workshops on the Alinsky method. In 1985 he began a four-year stint as a community organizer in Chicago, working for an Alinskyite group called the Developing Communities Project….

Camouflage is key to Alinsky-style organizing. While trying to build coalitions of black churches in Chicago, Obama caught flak for not attending church himself. He became an instant churchgoer.

I’ve said this for a LONG time. I’d almost be willing to bet American dollars that Sarah will pick Perry for her Veep. I don’t know why I feel this, I just do.

I know they are friends, and Sarah spends a lot of time in Texas. Those two would make an unbeatable team, and Perry would suck as POTUS after Sarah had her 8. It certainly wouldn’t be like Reagan handing the reins over to Bush 41.

If Sarah doesn’t run?

I will devote my life to making sure neither Newt or Willard are the nominees. You can bet on that one.

Willard is no better than Obama. He was a horrible governor, and would blow with the wind as POTUS. He is a friggin COWARD and wouldn’t have the guts, or good sense, to do what must be done to undo the damage Obama and the rest have done.

Hell, it will take Sarah two terms to clean this mess up, much like it took Reagan almost two terms to sort out what Carter did. The only thing that might help is if she has a CONSERVATIVE Congress.

I don’t trust Newt’s judgment either. He and Pelosi spooning on Al Gore’s couch, Scozzafava, now the NAACP nonsense.

Romney and Newt should run for the democrat party nomination they’d be more at home with that bunch. I KNOW Romney would fit right in! In fact, if someone told him he was a lock for the 2012 dem nomination, I imagine Mitt would change sides before the morning, and start extolling the virtues of Lenin and Marx, as well as Alinsky!

I can’t see her not running. She has too much already in place. The only way she doesn’t run is if someone who is basically a clone of her gets in.

Good luck with that.

Haley Barbour is a strong Governor, but an old white guy from the south. Like someone said the other night, the dems would just use outtakes from Mississippi Burning as campaign ads!

Jeb Bush is an open borders, give em all amnesty, big spending RINO. Next.

Mike Ditka? Inventive, but uhhh, no.

We got our leader. We just need to get behind her and get in gear. Sarah Palin is as close to Ronald Reagan as any of us will ever live to see.

Leaders like her do not grow on trees.

No one. I mean no one will fight as hard for Liberty and Freedom as Sarah. No one will fight corruption like Sarah will either. She has a loooooong track record of going after corrupt politicians, even her friends that go bad.

This goes back to her earliest days on the Wasilla city council. The fellow that actually talked her into running in the first place owned a waste management company. He was using his position to try and pass an ordinance that would have forced everyone to use his services. Guess who stopped that.

I don’t know, maybe I am just too close to the deal. I have followed this woman for years. Not long after she became Governor. I’ve seen what she is capable of as a CEO.

I look around and for the life of me I have no idea why every single SANE person in this country isn’t behind her. Seriously, to me, personally, one would have to be insane, clinically insane to look around at our choices and potential choices, and pick anyone else.

Is it because she’s a she??

Seriously, what the hell is it? There is no one out there that even comes close to her record of excellence in office.

She would go down in history as one of our greatest presidents. This woman gets stuff done.

You do know Texas is one of nine states standing with Jan Brewer against the Obama regime and the lawsuit, right?

Rick also is standing with Jan and boycotting the border Governors deal.

Like I said, say what you want, Texas is the only state that is movin right along, despite everything Obama has thrown at us. We are doing better than when did under Carter.

I knew Texas was standing against the DOJ, but my understanding is that he just now has been coming on board. Why doesn’t he push for TX to adopt a similar law? My understanding is that he’s been making speeches to La Raza and reassuring them that AZ’s law wouldn’t work for TX… huh?

Like I said, say what you want, Texas is the only state that is movin right along, despite everything Obama has thrown at us. We are doing better than when did under Carter.

I have nothing wrong with Texas. Just some issues with Perry. If Medina hadn’t fried herself by even entertaining the idea of truferism, I probably would have gotten behind her.

I think if you paid attention, Sarah would tend to be a positive influence on either gentlemen.

I hope. I still don’t trust McCain. Do you? Do you believe this tough talk on illegal aliens or is he just trying to get re-elected?

Some folks overestimate the importance of Levi and Bristol, I think. It’s fodder for the hags on The View and others who roundly despise Palin and will never change their minds about her. For those in the middle who could conceivably go either way, I don’t think it factors in much. Esp. for those voters who happen to be parents of teenagers. I’m thinking they probably have more sympathy for Sarah than they do antipathy.

I was talking with my best friend about this just last night. She is a middle-of-the-roader. She likes Palin just fine, but she falls into the category of those who think she’s Not Ready/Unelectable. Her view of the situation is exactly as I stated above: She sees it as having little bearing on Palin’s presidential chances and not reflective of her ability to lead. She figures most voters will say (about the kids), “There but for the grace of God go I,” and then turn to more substantive matters in deciding who to vote for.

I think my friend is someone who could be convinced. She leans left on social issues, and is in favor of some kind of govt.-run healthcare (tho I imagine she’ll be changing her position on that come next year when her premium skyrockets), but she’s conservative when it comes to guns, spending, taxes and national security. I can’t rule out the importance of gender politics with her either; she was a big Hillary supporter. I believe there are many other disaffected female voters like her as well. If you polled her today, she would probably tell you she wouldn’t vote for Palin. But she doesn’t think she’s some brainless chillbilly either so if it came down to voting for Palin or Obama, she would go with Palin.

And I don’t think she’s alone, either.

I think that sums up a lot of the Palin hate from many guys.

Sarah represents the pretty girls that rejected them so it makes them feel better to scorn her. Takes away a little of that long buried hurt I imagine (Allah must have a cargo ship full of that hurt).

The point is that only the women of the party have the balls to say that what is going on is wrong for the country. The men are too busy trying to be “metrosexual” so as to appeal to everyone in order to win, but the women are proving that you don’t need to run from the center because the largest part of the country WANT conservatism!!!

Bloomberg’s a leftie. If anything, he’d steal more support from Obama than Palin. And imagine if he somehow won NY’s 32 electoral votes. What would that do to Barry’s chances?

That’s why the Liberal Democrats are trying to kill the Electoral College to allow the president to be picked by a simple popular majority. Funded by Soros and the usual crowd, the “National Popular Vote” project is working behind the scenes at the STATE level to get liberal legislatures to pass a law stating that the State’s Electoral College votes will be assigned automatically to the candidate winning the simple majority popular vote. That way they think they can always win since of course their guy will always be more popular! Could regional and fringe candidates win this way? Who cares, screams this tantrum, it’s not fair that Bush got elected twice!!

When a book takes direct quotes from their writings it helps point regular schmoes like me to the source docs. For example I read Novak’s Prince of Darkness which sent me to McGinnis’s “John Adams” and Hayek’s “road to serfdom” == both very interesting reads. The latter was a favorite of Reagan by the way.

Jenfidel on July 16, 2010 at 8:33 AM

Why is this discussion on a thread about Sarah Palin?

And I possess “The Road to Serfdom.”

Jenfidel on July 16, 2010 at 9:20 AM

Cindy Munford on July 16, 2010 at 9:16 AM

Good point. Reading the source is always the best approach. That particular book was pretty good in that it took entire sections as well as a look at the historical context at the time. Jefferson, Adams and others seemed to feel (and did state) that countries that really separated religion from the law tended to have more people who were religious versus a country that was tied into a particular religion tended to reduce participation. Church of England is an example mentioned – one not mentioned I am familiar with was the Japanese government tie in to the Buddhists for a very long period.

And if the “moral minority” were Christian, they might have recognized many of those quotes as scripture from the Bible. But of course without scripture citations, fools easily miss divine references.

I think your definition of “Deist” fails the test when exposed to the Light.

Because our society has been so dumbed-down by progressive education, that many don’t possess the reading comprehension skills necessary to understand the writings of our Founders.
