Megyn Kelly: Is my coverage of the Black Panther case racist?
posted at 5:04 pm on July 14, 2010 by Allahpundit
Radioactive fallout from the nuclear exchange with KP, who’s conspicuously missing from this segment. Playing her part here — and showing/receiving vastly more respect — is Juan Williams. In fact, this is almost a bizarro-world version of yesterday’s screamfest as JW makes most of the same points KP did albeit in a more politic manner: Yes, he concedes, the DOJ’s decision to drop the Panthers case is a legit story (something she didn’t admit initially but went on to say later in the segment), but absent a formal finding that it was part of a program of bias inside the Department, the relentless coverage feels like racial scaremongering. Was that so hard?
Exit question: Should I be worried that KP hasn’t been on since the big dust-up with Kelly? Gulp.

Second that. Now, how about a motion that Eric Holder and Justice are racist? (and very probably, obama)
jeanie on July 14, 2010 at 6:39 PM
….You seem to be so upset about race and how it is used…except when it is liberals that are being shown to be racist.
..you have zero credibility.
You whine about people here making defensive comments….
…….yet you have no condemnation for liberals who are calling for the genocide of white people and the liberals who support them.
Your faux and selective outrage is pathetic but predictable coming from a liberal.

Obama’s silence means assent.
Assent to the deepening of the racial divide in this country for purely political purposes(mid-term elections). It is a disgrace. It should be an impeachable offense.
And Michelle Obama?
Imagine Laura Bush being the keynote speaker at a John Birch Society convention. That’s basically what Michelle Obama did yesterday. She is a disgrace as well.
I can’t wait to send them both packing in 2012.

All these race-baiters who claim that Megyn is racist for exposing racism in the DOJ: Where were you exactly when the Left was calling Bush racist after Katrina? You know, the race-baiters who endlessly played Kanye West’s clip saying Bush hates black people?

I appreciate Megyn Kelly’s reporting on the DOJ dropping the charges against the Black Panther party. Her interview with the whistle blower was very interesting given the fact that DOJ refuses to answer subpoena. Megyn is doing her job; it’s what reporters do. Well, except for CBS’ Bob Shiffer. During his face-to-face interview with Eric Holder last Sunday, Shiffer failed to ask Holder why charges against Black Panther party were dropped.

I was wondering when you would show up in this thread. Did I miss it when you denounced Mr. Shabazz – the guy who got let off – for saying ‘we gotta kill some crackers’ and ‘we gotta kill some cracker babies’? Who is the one trying to incite violence? I think it is the New Black Panther Party – same as the old Black Panther Party, they just haven’t started killing yet.

Megyn Kelly’s coverage is not racist. The fact that two members of the New Black Panthers were standing in front of a polling place with night sticks talking about the man Obama going to win and then frightening the GOP poll watcher, and then the DOJ looking at the case and dropping it, and then a whistleblower saying it was based on race. No, her coverage isn’t racist. She’s covering a black vs. white racism case. She should be proud. I’m proud of her!

They have discussed being prepared for our money not being worth anything and the need to be out of debt, stocked with supplies and having a talent with which they might barter. And those conversations were around the time of the financial “crisis”. You see every utterance in the context of race.

There’s a simple way to find out if the idiot Holder is refusing to prosecute blacks, -let those in the DOJ testify in Congress or in the Civil Rights Commission about what they know. Any democratics asking the administration to let them testify? I wonder why?
If the progressives think Christian Adams perjured himself in testimony in front of the Civil Rights Commission, let a court look into that by calling witnesses to see if his testimony can be corroborated. Any democratics pushing for perjury charges? I wonder why?

Are these within the DOJ? The Obama admin? Do they have any real power?
If not, then why raise their sick prestige to that of the POTUS? the DOJ?
As deflections go, that was a bad one.
Be it NBPP members, neo-Nazis or Skinheads is not the point, its not even the subject.
The subject/ point is why did the DOJ drop the case after they had won?
Substitute “NBPP members” with “neo-Nazis” or “Skinheads’, The “Obama admin” with any “unknown admin”, Would it be okay with you if they just dropped the case after winning it?
Would it be okay with you if they stonewalled legitimate questions as to why they dropped it?

Who says we don’t get excised when we see neo-nazi, skinhead, white-power azzholes? Hate is hate my friend regardless of skin color in my book, yet it seems according to you hate is only truly hate if it’s dished out by white people! So who is more colorblind? I would say myself and most other HA commenters, not you!
I would be just as livid if it were Skinheads at this polling station wearing their uniforms, brandishing a club, and using racial slurs! In addition I would be just as vocal and pissed if they weren’t prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as should have been done with the Black Panther members that were clearly there to incite voter intimidation!
Somehow I believe The Race Card doesn’t believe these Black Panther members were intimidating voters so here’s the sworn statement given by Bartle Bull, he was a longtime civil rights activist and former aide to Sen. Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 presidential campaign (emphasis mine):
Mr. Bull dedicated many years to the civil rights cause in order to ensure minorities have their say through their vote, the mere fact the Black Panther’s did this was a complete and total affront to a man dedicated to their civil rights at a time when doing so placed himself and his family in peril and this is how they thank him?!?! They may as well have urinated on him; it would have been less disrespectful!

The KP/JW/Leftist Obammunist/General Gashole argument appears to be: since there is no FORMAL finding of a pattern at DOJ, even though there are plenty of examples and allegations from credible former prosecutors who were there, we should ignore the story of this incident. Then, when the next one pops up, same deal, deep-six the coverage. And when the next “isolated” case is exposed, forget that, too.

The Left is pure evil, here as elsewhere, now as historically.
Adjoran on July 15, 2010 at 1:00 AM
It’s a common tactic for leftists to troll what they consider to be “right-wing blogs” either trying to aggravate a racist comment out of someone or just to post mirroring views for a while then post something racist themselves, then link to it on Kos/DU/HuffPo etc to “prove” how evil the right is.
TRC’s not just a troll, and a contemptible liar, but a saboteur as well. I don’t know why that’s tolerated – differences of opinion are not just fine but dandy, but deliberate and repeated lies and false accusations and generally “*****ing on the rug” shouldn’t be acceptable.

This is how the black racists and the MSM marginalize and silence anyone who disgrees with them. Just label them racist. It’s time for this to come to a stop.
TrickyDick on July 15, 2010 at 8:26 AM
And the way for the GOP to address it is to be candid about the facts. If all people are created equal then all races have the same capacity for racist behavior.
If you agree with that statement take it to another level – say for the sake of argument that 5% of all people are racist. Percentage wise there are just as many black racists as white or any other group. But the acknowledgement that needs to be made is that simple demographics of the population (70% white 15% black) translates to a 4 to 1 ratio of white racists to black racists.
On the positive side that would mean that there is only a 5% chance that someone is racist. Most people are not racist and they know that. Don’t take offense for a mischaracterization – you come off sounding like you are defending the true racists, instead blunt it with rational arguments.
You might be surprised at how well that works.

The “narrative” of this particular story is that African-Americans are intimidated at the polls by the racists of their own skin color. This has been going on for decades and is aided and abetted by the enablers, black and white, in the Democrat Party who put votes before human dignity. The NBPP just got caught.
That is the usual rhetorical tactic used by people who don’t actually want to speak honestly about race in America. Demonize anyone who dares to state the obvious: African Americans are treated like serfs of the Democrat Party. And it is happening with intimidation and violence when necessary.
Could you be any more vague? Let’s say it plainly: No one, especially other African Americans, are allowed to come to the aid of African American serfs.
And just how, I ask, are these pathetic white stereotypes guilty of intimidating Black voters? The correct answer is that they are used in cheap propaganda by -you- to dispirit black voters, most of whom know the color of the real intimidators.
This conservative opposes “bigots” of any kind who perpetrate or allow the intimidation of any persons on the base of race, color, creed, or sexual preference. And I know that the overwhelming majority of those who call themselves conservative in this time and place agree with me.
This isn’t about white fear-mongering TRC. It is about black fear-mongering that has metastasized into a quasi-military power exercised within the African American communities across America by other blacks who are supported by black and white political barons within the Democrat Plantation House.

Armstrong Williams nails this in the last minute. The issue is not about about inflamming racial tensions but wether justice has been done against voter intimidation.
Liberal folks like Power and Juan Williams are trying to move the goal posts here.
Bringing up whether there was voter intimidation during the Bush election only proves the point that it is wrong regardless who the victim or transgressor are.
Defending the DoJ for dropping this case says one thing, justice should be applied differently for different people.

When a lawyer has to resign his job just to testify (which the DOJ did have to do) THAT is news.
When the defendant’s in a case are convicted and THEN the prosecutor drops the case, THAT is news.
When the defendant later is shown inciting violence and murder (“we gonna have to kill their cracker babies”) THAT is news.
And when all the news outlets except Fox run away from those stories, THAT is news too!

You’re right, I agree.
Conservatives, Moderates and Independents need not “use” the Black Panther bogeyman–Obama already used them. Everyone responds at the polls.
Threatening violence to promote racial superiority at the expense of all others (regardless whether minority or majority) gets reactions from everyone.
So the questions are whether this backfires on Obama in elections. And that depends upon whether the majority of American blacks WANT to play the perpetual victim that they endorse violence in order to coerce American tax funds to squander in further corruption (that being Obama’s forte).
Just as Americans argue for “moderate Muslims” to stand up against the radical Jihadists in their midst, Americans argue for every American to take responsibility for producing a life of liberty as equals under the law.
Personally and culturally, everyone needs to get over the damned xyz chips on shoulders, regardless of hue, thinking themselves to be “more special” than others.
The Democrat Party will never allow liberty. And without liberty, life is daily death.
maverick muse on July 15, 2010 at 9:43 AM
Americans who vote were offended that the NBP would actually threaten peace as they did. But no one confronted the Black Panthers with any threat of violence at the scenes AND SUBSEQUENTLY, not from cowardice, but by bravery passing them by on their way through the doors. Yes, the cowards turned their backs and failed to vote. But no one violated the Black Panthers in the wrong BECAUSE WE TRUSTED OUR GOVERNMENT TO FUNCTION.
What Obama and Holder have done is to destroy all hope in trust that our government functions according to law.
THAT is why turning out to vote, regardless of threats or disillusionment, matters more than ever from now on.
maverick muse on July 15, 2010 at 9:48 AM
The NBPP member was trying to raise racial hatred against whites when he shouted, “we gonna have to kill their cracker babies”.
Foxnews was pointing this out.
Liberals on the other hand say, “Why are you showing this? Are you trying to incite racial fears?”
WHAT? This line of arguing is completely irrational and demonstrates a form of madness. Madness can strike anyone at anytime. Pride is the chief weakness of the host in which madness latches securely onto.

4. Okay – well maybe there were some voters intimidated – sorry I didn’t actually READ the testimony so I guess I got that part wrong … Yawn! whatever.
5. Hey I talked to some of my buddies in the DoJ – so I know everything about this case that I need to know. Who needs to bother with boring transcripts?

KP has chip on her shoulder, Juan does not, you could see Kirsten gearing up to hijack the segment from the get go and then when confronted she angrily spewed the liberal excuse machine talking points, Megyn wasn’t having any of it.
Interesting, now, the left wants to separate polling intimidation from the Black Liberation Theology which is the direct cause but still wants to stick illegal and legal immigration in the same category?
The never ending liberal hypocrisy.

I just think that Kirsten Powers had a bad day. I have never seen her lose her temper before and frankly I want to write it off as just a bad moment (we all have them ) for her. I am sure that MK and KP both regret how that went down.

No, he cannot. He’s way too short for the job.

Late to the party. I can see why MK is po’d at KP. She doesn’t know what she is talking about.
KP says there was no intimidation.
MK points out that there was testimony that there was evidence of intimidation.
KP says it’s moot because they got an injunction against them.
MK says the injunction were either downgraded or dismissed after they were won.
KP says Boooooooooooooosh!
KP is a lousy debater. If she is not going to address the issues, MK has the right to stop her from promulgating a lies about what occurred.

Megyn did what a good journalist should. There are just so few left anymore on TV,people forgot what it was like. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. God love her!
NOT racist!

These guys stood in front of a polling place calling people racial slurs and threatening people with a weapon. It was all caught on video.
They got away with a slap on the wrist.
You have to be an absolute effing moron to not understand why this is a big deal.
Maybe it was only one polling place in 2008. But what is stopping NBPP from doing this 100x over in 2012? It obviously worked the first time.
