Quotes of the day

posted at 10:56 pm on July 13, 2010 by Allahpundit

I understand that the NAACP, at its annual conference in Kansas City, will vote today on a resolution condemning the Tea Party movement as “racist”. I believe that the NAACP is making a grave mistake in stereotyping a diverse group of Americans who care deeply about their country and who contribute their time, energy and resources to make a difference.

As I campaign in South Carolina, I participate in numerous events sponsored by the Tea Party, 9/12, Patriot, and other like-minded groups, and I have had the opportunity to get to know many of the men and women who make up these energetic grassroots organizations. Americans need to know that the Tea Party is a color-blind movement that has principled differences with many of the leaders in Washington, both Democrats and Republicans. Their aim is to support the strongest candidates – regardless of color or background – who will fight to return our country to its Constitutional roots of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets.

***
The only purpose of such an unfair accusation of racism is to dissuade good Americans from joining the Tea Party movement or listening to the common sense message of Tea Party Americans who simply want government to abide by our Constitution, live within its means, and not borrow and spend away our children’s futures. Red and yellow, black and white, this message is precious in all our sights. All decent Americans abhor racism. No one wants to be associated with any organization that is in any way racist in sentiment or origin. I certainly don’t want to be. Thankfully, the Tea Party movement is not racist or motivated by racism. It is motivated by love of country and all that is good and honest about our proud and diverse nation.

Like President Reagan, Tea Party Americans believe that “the glory of this land has been its capacity for transcending the moral evils of our past.” Isn’t it time we put aside the divisive politics of the past once and for all and celebrate the fact that neither race nor gender is any longer a barrier to achieving success in America – even in achieving the highest office in the land?

Does anyone else find it ironic that a group that has its main goal as the advancement of a certain race calling another group racists?

the entire idea behind the NAACP is raicst.

Funny,
1) The Tea party is racist
2) Opposition to Obama is racist

but, 1) NBPP members videotaped outside a polling place wielding billy clubs and saying that no one was going to deny the black man being president and 2) One of those NBPP people making a statement about killing “cracker babies” is not racist

Gee, this newspeak stuff is hard

/for the record, I’m not racist, I don’t like Obama’s white half either (I wish I had said that first. I didn’t, but don’t know whom to credit — it’s brilliant)

I have a feeling that Eric Holder’s gonna get what he claimed he wanted. We’re gonna have a discussion about race as a nation come 2012 and it’s gonna be led by the likes of Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, and Col. West.

She could be living a life of leisure. Instead, she’s geared up for battle and is leading the charge KNOWING what they’ll continue to do to her. KNOWING they’ll do anything they can to destroy her.

And her family knows it too…yet they support all of this. We know this because they talked about how these kinds of decisions are discussed among the family.

I believe she’s going to run for ’12…and if she does, we know it’ll be with her family’s stamp of approval.

Here is the rest of it.

The Charge of Racism: It’s Time to Bury the Divisive Politics of the Past
Today at 6:58pm

I am saddened by the NAACP’s claim that patriotic Americans who stand up for the United States of America’s Constitutional rights are somehow “racists.” The charge that Tea Party Americans judge people by the color of their skin is false, appalling, and is a regressive and diversionary tactic to change the subject at hand.

President Reagan called America’s past racism “a legacy of evil” against which we have seen the long struggle of minority citizens for equal rights. He condemned any sort of racism, as all good and decent people do today. He also called it a “point of pride for all Americans” that as a nation, we have successfully struggled to overcome this evil. Reagan rightly declared that “there is no room for racism, anti-Semitism, or other forms of ethnic and racial hatred in this country,” and he warned that we must never go back to the racism of our past.

His words rang especially true in the immediate aftermath of the 2008 presidential election. It seemed that with the election of our first black president, our country had become a new “post-racial” society. As one writer in the Washington Post stated: “[Barack Obama’s] election isn’t just about a black president. It’s about a new America. The days of confrontational identity politics have come to an end.”

We, as a united people, applauded that sentiment. We were proud of that progress. That’s why it is so sad to see that 18 months later, the NAACP is once again using the divisive language of the past to unfairly accuse the Tea Party movement of harboring “racist elements.”

Having been on the receiving end of a similar spurious charge of racism (in a recent frivolous lawsuit which was finally dismissed by a federal judge), I know how Tea Party Americans feel to be falsely accused. To be unjustly accused of association with what Reagan so aptly called that “legacy of evil” is a traumatizing experience, and one of which the honest, freedom-loving patriots of the Tea Party movement are truly undeserving.

On this subject, I can recommend the statement issued by a man I was proud to endorse, Tim Scott, the GOP candidate from South Carolina’s First Congressional District. Tim, poised to become the first African-American Republican Congressman from the former Confederacy since Reconstruction, is himself a sign of a hopeful, truly post-racial future for our country. It gives added meaning to his warning that “the NAACP is making a grave mistake in stereotyping a diverse group of Americans who care deeply about their country and who contribute their time, energy and resources to make a difference.”

I just spent a few beautiful Alaskan days with some beautiful Americans in my husband’s birthplace – they are Todd’s family and they are Yupik Eskimo. In the decades that our families have blended, I have never heard one proud, patriotic member judge another member based on skin color. Both Todd and I were raised to measure a person according to their capacity and willingness to love, work, forgive, contribute, and show good character. We’re joined by the vast majority of Americans in this belief whereby we measure a man by his character, not his color. Because of amazing efforts and accomplishments by those who came before my generation, it is foreign to us to consider condemning or condoning anyone’s actions based on race or gender. Being with our diverse family in a melting pot that is a Native village just days ago reminded me of that.

So to leave that remote village and return back to “modern civilization” only to hear of the NAACP’s resolution today suggesting that we Tea Party Americans don’t respect equality makes me sad for those who choose to divide these great United States. It is time to end the divisive politics.

Rush predicted all of this back during the campaign.

People were saying, even some conservatives, that electing a black President for the first time would cleanse old wounds in our society, let us all acknowledge the progress that had been made on race relations.

Rush said I don’t buy it for a minute. It will get worse, not better. Every policy, every executive order, every bill that you oppose it will be because you are a racist, not because it’s wrong for the country.
The race hustlers will not allow themselves to be put out of business.

I knew when he said that he was right on the money, and we now have absolute proof.

No question about it.

Race card = little boy crying wolf.

I’ve had it, and I won’t take it seriously anymore. Some vestiges still exist, but they cut across all lines. The best thing about our country is a promise of–and a pretty darned good effort at ensuring–equal opportunity for all.

Plus, the media & the likes of the NAACP are having a hard time with both Sarah & the Tea Parties because they’re not going to play their game. Republicans have let them define the debate for all this time, what is compassionate, what racism means, name the issue, they set the parameters for the debate, now the TPers & Palin, Bachman, and a handful of others are not accepting that paradigm. This is of course why they have tried to destroy Rush for so long.

This has got to be shocking for them. They’ve always been the biggest bullies on the block, but suddenly folks are kicking their knees, poking them in the eye, and punching them in the face, and they don’t know how to deal with it. Their tricks aren’t working, the natives won’t be tamed.

Ehh….it’s actually much baser and more cynical than that. This resolution, as well as the crap about Rand Paul and the Civil Rights Act, is aimed at BLACK people. It’s all a shameless effort to get the black voters riled up enough to vote in November – for Democrats, of course.

Without a 70-80% turnout of black voters in 2008, Barack Obama would not be President today, nor would quite a few Democrats in the House that rode his coattails (not to mention Al Franken in the Senate.) But Obama isn’t on the ballot. So how do Democrats get those black voters back to the polls and get those House members reelected?

Apparently the so-called black leadership in this country believes that black voters are so stupid that all they have to do is shout “Republicans are racists!!!11!1!!” a bunch of times.

It’s amazingly cynical, and yes it is racist. But that is how desperate Democrats have become in their effort to avoid the tsunami in December.

Theater of Distraction.

This is like a kid who is not happy with his school work for the term asking the malcontents in the room to raise a fuss. Joseph Conrad would go nuts with this.

There were no incidents when Speaker Pelosi carried the 1965 “Medicare Gavel” past the crowd. The TPers aren’t racist. There were not any real nuts on display that day. And so what if there were?

The NAACP should be focused on the nuts and bolts of improving life for black and even all poor Americans and I have seen some of that. Although their meetings often become a song of social programs, they completely outclass this.

Hello, WH, it is hard to not hear the unemployment numbers, the deficit numbers, the maneuvers of offering jobs to influence elections and the mismanaged gulf crisis when you try to mask it with remarks which weren’t made. To the voters, this would be the “Sounds of Silence” even if the N word was hurled. And it wasn’t.

I hoped that The One was better than this, let alone our First Lady.

6 New Orleans cops indicted for post-Katrina civilian shootings on Danziger Bridge

The indictments, announced today by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, allege that four officers were involved in the shootings while two other officers participated in a cover-up, “helping to obstruct justice.”

“We will not tolerate wrongdoing by those sworn to protect the public — this will not stand,” Holder said at a press conference Tuesday.

Eric Holder said that Americans are cowards to talk about race, and today we saw that in full glory.

Frankly, from what I’ve seen of the passed resolution, in contrast to what was talked about beforehand, it seems that they must have gotten a few “grown ups” in the room.

But the real problem is that since we have gotten our first (real) black President and a bit before, it has become more and more obvious that there is a real problem in the black community with race relations. They still live in the 60′s, and the early 60′s at that. They have refused to see any improvement in race relations because it will interfere with their world view of self pity and victimhood. It really must be a miserable life.

J_Crater on July 14, 2010 at 1:17 AM

Has anyone noticed the insanity of what is going on, as is evidenced by the HA front page?

Stories include: Arizonan’s are racist, Al Quaida is racist, the Tea Party is racist, Mel Gibson in racist, blacks calling other blacks Uncle Tom,
DoJ/BPP are racist, Kirsten Powers implies Megyn Kelly/Fox News are racist.

obamao is stirring the pot nicely. His recipe is timed to blow up in our faces before elections, and just in time to institute martial law.

If we don’t learn to ignore obastalin’s race baiting, we’ll continue to give his troublemaking/divisive statements the weight they would deserve if we had a real president.

We don’t. Burn his statements to the ground as in “Kellying” him a la Kirsten Powers. Then ignore the foo.

I think the NAACP should lose their special status with the IRS. They are no longer a neutral and non-profit organization that has tax relief.

Mirimichi on July 14, 2010 at 1:18 AM

As usual it’s SP out of the foxhole firing…

It’s pretty embarressing to all the rest that for some reason, they find such an act as a negative

Sarah Palin proves more often than not that she may be the only choice

she shows no fear

Sonosam on July 14, 2010 at 1:24 AM

Another positive, uniting message by Palin. If she keeps this up her F/UF nets should reverse over time.

Her very clear statements here also undermines future “racist” attacks, which are sure to come – this FB posting is one to bookmark.

csThor on July 14, 2010 at 2:07 AM

Why is it always Sarah Palin who’s doing all the fighting? She defends every conservative principle, and the other wimpy GOPers can’t even be bothered to defend her flanks, much less go on the offense themselves.

When lefties sexualize Palin and other conservative women, or attack their intelligence and their families, the GOP “men” like Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty et al just stand back smirking, with their arms folded.

Time to call them out for their self-serving cowardice. Nobody is “neutral” – either you’re on the side of conservatism or you’re not.

VidOmnia on July 14, 2010 at 2:33 AM

Once again, the NAACP is a altar of the PROGRESSIVE / LIBERAL Religion……all in the Democrat party must bow at the altar (and have Rev. Jackson, or Sharpton pass p!ss a blessing on you).

PappyD61 on July 13, 2010 at 11:15 PM

More accurate.

platypus on July 14, 2010 at 3:34 AM

Which scenario is more likely?

a) Mitt Romney defends Sarah Palin against nutty anti-woman attacks and racist claims

b) Sarah Palin defends Mitt Romney against nutty anti-Mormom attacks and racist claims

Is there really any doubt?

VidOmnia on July 14, 2010 at 4:18 AM

Why is it always Sarah Palin who’s doing all the fighting?

VidOmnia on July 14, 2010 at 2:33 AM

*shrug*

I dunno, but I love the way she does it.

Not too bad for a stupid, poorly educated, bible thumping, brood mare of a half-term quitter, eh?

I knew that before she was selected as the VP candidate - there, right there, she’s the one. She grasps the issues, is uncompromising on principle and does not back down from her foes. Indeed, her foes are beginning to notice that it is she that hits back twice as hard. Woe unto him that crosses the ‘Cuda.

That is the mark of a leader.

And don’t think for one minute that our international enemies aren’t taking stock of this woman who will be the next president. There will be no question who is standing up for America and her allies with her in the White House.

Follow her.

turfmann on July 14, 2010 at 5:23 AM

I understand that the NAACP, at its annual conference in Kansas City, will vote today on a resolution condemning the Tea Party movement as “racist”.

a white incumbent who represents a majority black district in Memphis, landed the endorsement of President Barack Obama on Tuesday — and harsh criticism from his black opponent in the primary.

and so it goes…

BDU-33 on July 14, 2010 at 5:55 AM

Kudos to Micheal Meyers for telling it as it is. Interesting and encouraging that some of the most vocal against the race card mentality are blacks themselves.

So,there is a Grand Racism Agenda by DOJ Eric Holder!!
======================================================
Exerpts
March 12 2009
———-
If the nation’s new attorney general wanted to get people’s attention on the subject of race, lambasting Americans as “cowards” was a headline-grabbing first step. In the wake of the election of the nation’s first black president, its first black attorney general delivered a powerful indictment on race relations.

As the country’s top lawman, Holder is now in a position to tackle racial inequity.

But first, he’ll have to rebuild the stable of government attorneys who specialize in prosecuting complex discrimination cases.

/for the record, I’m not racist, I don’t like Obama’s white half either (I wish I had said that first. I didn’t, but don’t know whom to credit — it’s brilliant)

I’ve heard that line before also, but can’t come up with a citation for it. Loved it, though.

No, no! Live by the sword, die by the crossbow quarrel.

NavyspyII on July 14, 2010 at 7:21 AM

I think that we are becoming a post racial country and you can thank the racialists for this. The average American is sick and tired of the average racialists nonsense and their power is diminishing daily as a result.

NotCoach on July 14, 2010 at 7:23 AM

She got more guts then anybody i know and i’m not a racist ether i’m half mexican my nephew is half black and my cousin is half black so the naacp should shut up and sarah palin should be our president now.

Aslans Girl on July 14, 2010 at 8:05 AM

America’s first black President and first lady, and they are both destroying 50 years of gains between races. Michelle Obama went to the NAACP to throw gasoline on the fire they themselves started. Dividing our country is what the Obama’s main goal seems to be.

They both learned much from Mr. Wright and Mr. Ayers…

Keemo on July 14, 2010 at 8:19 AM

Are we there yet ?

macncheez on July 14, 2010 at 8:25 AM

Blacks in America have lost something for which they had been fighting for years. The powerful use of the term “racism.” It was once used to point out indiscretions against the black race. It is used by many today to block any opposition to our president, and it has become a weak acquisition. The blacks in America are worse off for this trend as it diminishes their ability to attack serious racial injustice.

afotia on July 14, 2010 at 8:44 AM

The leaders of the naacp are living off the donations of the members. They produce nothing of value to America. They have to stir the pot in order to keep their positions, which makes them parasites. What actually is it that they do for their members other than feed their the insecurities of others.

Kissmygrits on July 14, 2010 at 8:59 AM

The NAACP is cutting off its nose to spite its face. Lots of people are realizing that the “Tea Party is racist” meme is false. It’s weakening the value of charging someone with racism.

Some day a Senator from Delaware is going to run for President, and make a racist comment, and the NAACP will have to stay silent instead of speaking out, because it’s completely in bed with Democrats. Now that I think of it, that’s already happened.

hawksruleva on July 14, 2010 at 9:12 AM

Will the NAACP also issue a proclamation honoring Robert Byrd?

hawksruleva on July 14, 2010 at 9:12 AM

The best way to combat these idiots is to simply get this message out: If you wanna know the truth about the TEA Party, then go check it out yourself and you will see the truth.

jeffn21 on July 14, 2010 at 9:32 AM

I like that SP has confronted the naacp

it’s important that SOMEONE meet this charge gor the onerousness it carries

the fact that Michelle is in is all the better

this is a battle with clear lines drawn

go SP
