Video: Meet Tom Emmer

posted at 8:48 am on July 12, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Minnesotans in Bloomington had an opportunity to do just that — meet the endorsed Republican candidate for Governor, at a party hosted by Jan Schneider and sponsored by the Republican Jewish Coalition. The RJC was kind enough to invite me to hear Tom Emmer speak, and below is the video of his remarks. We have interviewed Emmer several times over the past few years on our NARN show, with memorable appearances at the State Fair shows. The reason he makes such a great interview is apparent in the video; he says what’s on his mind, with a blunt speaking style that will remind some of Chris Christie, whom Emmer praised last night. In fact, Emmer admitted to a little envy, saying that Christie says all of the things Republicans say at meetings like these, but forces the media to cover it:

It’s a lengthy video, but worth the time. Pay special attention to Emmer’s explanation of the “tip credit” controversy and how it got misreported by the media. He says that the full video of the question and answer will be appearing on his campaign site soon to show how his remarks were not only taken out of context, but also that he never said anything about lowering the minimum wage for restaurant workers to $2.13 an hour as the media claimed. In the Q&A afterward, Emmer also addressed the issue of voter ID. At one point, he said, “I don’t care if anyone’s recording this or not. If you support voter ID, you support integrity in elections. If you oppose voter ID, you support voter fraud.” As I said — blunt.

We’ll try to get Emmer onto a TEMS soon, but if you are a NARN listener, stay tuned for the State Fair coming up in seven weeks. We’ll be sure to get Emmer back up on the stage.

With the MSM and the Justice Department supporting the left, it will take alot of Tom Emmers and Chris Christies to make up the difference in an already stacked deck. With the truth being manipulated by the MSM and the laws being selectively enforced by the Justice Department, it seems NOvember will be almost a last chance effort to regain our country as we have known it.

Can’t see video at this time, but by your post he sounds like good people to me…..

I really like him. I think he’ll be good for us. I’m seeing a lot of anti-Emmer ads pop up even before the DFL primary so they must be scared of him.

gophergirl on July 12, 2010 at 9:03 AM

Since the Minnesota media is so blatantly on the side of the democrats, ANY democrats, republicans have to choose their words much more carefully. Hope he’s more careful next time. He needs a tv ad up, quick, to counter this.(not just on his website.) They are also going after Bachmann’s pro BP comments. I haven’t seen her refute the dem ads yet.
Come on, fight back!

At one point, he said, “I don’t care if anyone’s recording this or not. If you support voter ID, you support integrity in elections. If you oppose voter ID, you support voter fraud.”

Ain’t that the truth. I find it inconceivable that Dems can’t support measures the help to ensure honest elections. Because they won’t, I long ago concluded that Democrats are fundamentally dishonest.

If you support voter ID, you support integrity in elections. If you oppose voter ID, you support voter fraud and probably need to rely on fraud to get elected.

Fixed it for him.

And tons of anti-Emmer stories in the Star Tribune, followed by glowing ones about Mark Dayton.

I hope MN pulls its head out of its a$$ & votes for someone like this.
I’m tired of them all fleeing across the border into to North Dakota.
They like our business flriendly atmosphere, lower taxes, and the JOBS we have.
Go figure.

Speaking of voter fraud, I saw a segment on Fox & Friends yesterday about a Democratic film maker who has produced a film on voter fraud in the 2008 Democratic primary.

I didn’t see any mention of it in HA, but a Green Roomer had a post.

The sooner he joins the ranks of the next Congress, the better. Out with liberals in elected office. They need to be shown the door, and not let back into the building, period.

Thank God for that!

Only good thing Jesse did was lower license tab fees.

Ed, Another unforgettable interview with Tom was the one you did at the end of this year’s legislative session where you kept asking if Tom would agree to extend the interview. You’d planned on 2 segments & wound up doing the entire hour.

If Emmer doesn’t win the Governors race we are going to become a cold Moscow.
