Audio: Mel Gibson even more insane than thought (allegedly!)

posted at 4:15 pm on July 12, 2010 by Allahpundit

The good news? This’ll end up inspiring a classic “South Park,” not to mention a million amateur techno mash-ups on YouTube. The horrifying news? When he threatens to take a bat to her skull and then plant her in a rose garden, you’ll fully believe he’s capable of it. It’s that bad. I don’t know what his damage is — the last time he went nuts he blamed it on booze, although his speech here sure doesn’t sound slurred — but after eight minutes of profane rage, it’s clear that Grigorieva’s right about him needing medication. Look out for the snippet along the way when he complains about feeling no spiritual connection with his ex-wife. Really, Mad Max? The ex wasn’t into burying people in rose gardens?

This guy’s career is now the least of his worries, but for the record, his new flick with Jodie Foster is naturally in big trouble. Which is too bad, because if ever there was an opportune moment for a movie about Mel Gibson dealing with his issues with women in a palpably insane manner, this is it. Exit question: Who would have guessed five years ago that Tom Cruise would end up as the comparatively sane, sober one among Hollywood’s A-list leading men? Click the image to listen.

You’re suggesting she should have had an abortion or put it up for adoption?

YYZ on July 12, 2010 at 5:16 PM

Huh? Uhhhhhmmmmm….. no, I am suggesting that perhaps she set him up by helping to break up his marriage and seal the deal with a baby. Happens all time. Baby = meal ticket.

let’s guess what she said to him BEFORE the tape started rolling, shall we? And I’m not defending him. He’s a squid. A big scary assed squid. However – were I on the receiving end of a rant and threats like that and they came out of nowhere, I would not be as calm as she. Her response is almost as spooky as his rant.

Just based on what he said regarding the jacuzzi, etc …

I’m guessing she told him he has a small [...] and all the allure of a pile of dog poo … possibly not even of dog poo unless it was goo poo or something. She probably called him old and wrinkled. No doubt she threw in something about bad BO on his part and a few digs about hitting the gym. But more importantly and the one thing sure to send him into a frothing fit of dementia … she probably told him he was going to hell for a multitude of sins and that she was happy to have helped send him on his way to the hot place leaving her a pile of money as a reward. Hense the “you have no soul” part of the rant.

Now. Is it her fault he has no self control and is so easy to manipulate? No. He’s grown. He made his bed. He needs to take some responsibility for his decisions and deal with them like a man and not a raving lunatic child.

I sensed no fear from her. No regrets. No concerns. Just cold, calculated prods to prolong the rant and drama.

Very interesting. Pointless and a waste of time probably because I don’t know them and could care less. but as a study of what humans can do to each other when they are that far gone … very interesting and sad.

BrideOfRove on July 12, 2010 at 5:25 PM

This’ll end up inspiring a classic “South Park,”

Except they already did that, and did it well. I’m not sure how they could do anything but just plagiarize themselves.

I hope the man gets help, at least for his family’s sake.

No.. no… let’s gossip some more about a man’s private life in the throws of a divorce…

Skywise on July 12, 2010 at 4:19 PM

It hasn’t been private for some time now.

Esthier on July 12, 2010 at 5:27 PM

BrideOfRove on July 12, 2010 at 5:25 PM

Exactly. We only hear her say what she wants us to hear her say. Apparently she told him he could not see his child on Father’s Day. While I am not excusing his behavior, if someone told me I could not see my children, there would be hell to pay. She got her meal ticket from Mel and now has no use for him. I think she sounds cold, calculating and evil. She said “don’t you call me honey”. I think that is a strange thing for her to say no matter how you look at this.

bloggless on July 12, 2010 at 5:30 PM

Mel is his own ego’s dupe.

Not only should Oksana wiretap her own phone, she should be applauded for doing so to defend herself. It may be the primary act that keeps her and her child alive and safe.

She could leave him any time. And she could divorce him at any time.

I’d be surprised and disappointed if Mel Gibson followed through, realizing his violent threats rather than seek asylum with psychiatric healers at this point. He’s in bad form and bad shape and needs professional help.

Evil seems to fit. There are some drugs that deaden emotions like Effexor that COULD cause the same kind of reaction — just to play the devils advocate and cover bases. But … man. If my husband went off like that on me I would be reacting WAY different.

Actually if we reached that point I would probably be loading the gun and you would hear the clicks and metal on metal sounds in the background along with the 911 operator on the otehr phone on speaker.

Just say’n.

But not this chick. She was calm. Cool and collected, saying just the right things to ramp him up more. Who DOES that?

I’m sorry, but it’s not as though domestic abuse is a new phenomenon. The behavior of the victims in those relationships doesn’t usually make any sense.

Not that it matters. The abusers are still wrong, even if somehow provoked.

I don’t care that it’s calculated – divorces often work like that. I’m not on this woman’s side either. She was the other woman, so I’m not sad to see that her bad decision isn’t being rewarded either, but I am sad to see what Gibson is saying to her, whether or not he ever actually harmed her physically.

It’s hard to consider you equal opportunity here when you’re spending most of your time bashing the woman and finding reasons for Gibson’s outburst.

While I know AP is an atheist, I’ll still say this: He sounds literally possessed. That’s the sound of either a completely insane man (very possible) or (if you happen to believe in this) someone under very evil influences. Mel, a supposedly devote Catholic, divorced his wife. Though I’m sure his history of whackiness goes far back, one does not violate ones core beliefs and not suffer some cognitive dissonance. Based on this, based on his seeming fetish with violence, and based on what are the teachings of the Catholic Church (God is Love, love thy neighbor as thyself, all that) Mel is probably literally raging at himself inside. All that rage is revealed in this unbelievable rant. So, as a Catholic myself, all I hear is evil spewing out of that pathetic man’s mouth. He’s in deeper trouble than just legal trouble. His soul is in jeopardy (apologies to those of you who think that is bunk).

BillyWilly on July 12, 2010 at 4:53 PM

Thought this deserved another look. Well said, and agreed. His newest child (Lucia?), his wife and other children, and the souls of the people involved are the only things that really matter in this debacle. Careers and jail terms are really, really passing things.

It’s all in the setting. Is he a nucking fut or did she drive him nucking futz? Not that anything like that is acceptable behavior in public, but behind closed doors, we’ll never know what licks she got in first.

It’s too easy to be accurate, but not the truth. We don’t live in a vacuum and neither do they. That’s one of the reasons I won’t listen to the tape(s), because I don’t know what led up to them.

Now, if he’s hitting her, all bets are off. He needs help now. And maybe a little jail time.

Mel is a man who gave his heart after it was riped out by his former wife. Now to him she not only riped his heart out but defiled it in the most harmful ways one can think of. He was looking for a woman that loved him for him for being him and not his money. They may have started that way but it may have been going down hill soon after his daughter was born. Mel is a very spiritually broken man.
I wish both him and Oksana well that they find peace somewhere.

Old men being fleeced by young women happens all the time. Generally all that is needed to seal the deal and procure the lifetime meal ticket is a baby. Mel got suckered. Anyone who doesn’t see what is happening here is a fool. Yes, he may be a raving lunatic, but she is calling the shots here. She is making sure that we see and feel only her perspective. The Clenis sexually assaulted his way through America and many Americans had no problem with that. Poor Mel (a Christian), who obviously is not well, is set up with illegal recordings by a woman who has blocked access to his child and because he uses language that is spoken and sung everyday in schools, streets, stores and on your child’s IPOD, he is labeled racist and wife abuser. She is labeled pure victim. I am not condoning his behavior, but I am condemning the way so many have allowed yourselves to be played by this female “victim”. Open your eyes, people. What a bunch of propagandic drivel.

1) Mel shows he’s as much of a Christian as those behind the Spanish Inquisition were i.e. he’s a CINO as far as we can tell, judging by his fruit. Unless Jesus has started promoting physical violence and verbal abuse and threats against spouses you feel wronged by, of course.

2) It isn’t illegal in CA to secretly tape record conversations if you’ve been threatened with violence by the unsuspecting party. Apparently he just hasn’t threatened her; he acknowledged hitting her more than once, too. Yep, I believe she’s in the clear on this one.

3) People who try to shift attention away from what he’s done to her and/or try to blame her in some way for his abusiveness are disturbed, and disturbing. That kind of behavior is like blaming a rape victim for provoking the rapist, or blaming a cheatee for being cheated upon because ‘my spouse wasn’t loving enough to me, so I had to look elsewhere.’ Such people demonstrate that they have trouble understanding what “respect” and “taking personal responsibility for one’s own actions” mean.

bloggless on July 13, 2010 at 11:06 AM

It appears my comment didn’t take, so I’ll try it again and hope I don’t duplicate.

The recording is not an answering machine. It’s an outboard voice recorder of some type with Mel on speaker-phone.

Mel’s rage-filled tirade is certainly shocking. Although, to anyone familiar with individuals suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder, it becomes somewhat predictable. Mel’s tirade can be summed up as, “I hate you, don’t leave me.” Which incidentally is the title of one early book on BPD.

Mel’s over-the-top rage directed at his significant other is one of the hallmarks of the disorder. His drinking and past reckless behavior also fit the criteria. Without the proper treatment Mel’s very life may be in jeopardy. What surfaces as anger is actually deep-seated, emotional fear of abandonment. His “craziness” is actually mal-adaptive coping mechanisms that only make things worse. It’s a terrible disorder that causes unbearable grief for the individual and those closest to him or her.

I have seen successful treatment by combining anti depressants with skilled cognitive behavioral therapy.

It’s easy to denounce Mel as a bad guy based on the recording. Until you have experienced the Jeckle-Hyde behavior of otherwise good people who suffer, it is certainly hard for most people to understand. Individuals with personality disorders do not have the option to just “get their act together”. They need very specific help to change. I believe Princess Diana suffered from BPD as well. Look what happened to her. It’s more common than most people are aware of.

Buck Turgidson on July 13, 2010 at 11:13 AM

Buck Turgidson on July 13, 2010 at 11:13 AM

You speak as if you are a professional. You must be really good, since you’ve summed up his pathology and treatment based on an 8 minute recording.

I, on the other hand, am not a mental health professional. However, I have been accused of having mental health issues (exclusively by my ex-wife). While there are no excuses for his behavior, I can say (from first-hand experience) that there are few things in life that will cause normally sane men to contemplate murder as much as an ex-wife kicking you out of your own house (in my case, through a falsified complaint), then using your children against you. Mel may, and probably does, have other problems, but you don’t have to have BPD to go off the deep end, and this is especially true when you believe that your conversation is private. All of us act differently in private than when we know others are listening.

that you oksana?

bloggless on July 13, 2010 at 11:06 AM

That you, Mel?

Maybe, maybe not. It’s kinda hard to tell – abusers and their excuse-makers sometimes aren’t very easy to differentiate, one from the other. You know what I mean. :)

Bizarro No. 1 on July 13, 2010 at 12:39 PM

What kind of behavior?

blink on July 13, 2010 at 11:12 AM

As I said, any attempt to deflect attention away from Mel’s responsibility for his brutality onto Oksana.

Not only didn’t Oksana make him do what he did to her, neither did the Devil. Nor his insane father, for that matter. Afterall, that’s how free will and personal responsibility work, don’t they?

Bizarro No. 1 on July 13, 2010 at 12:52 PM

Doesn’t matter is she’s an epic bitch or not.

What bothers me the most is that there are posters here defending this assclown.

I mean, what a kind of sicko defends a man that admits to beating his girlfriend…who is literaly holding their baby in her arms? What kind of shallow freak defends a man who threatens to take a bat to his girlfriends head…or to put her in rose garden?

I’ll tell you who – unhinged people that can relate to this nut and clearly see themselves in this lunatic rant.

I understand your apparent skepticism. I am not a mental health professional and I don’t know Mel any better than you do.

I married a woman who suffered from BPD. My options were to bail as most people would, or to stand and fight for my marriage. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. In the course of things I read everything there is on the subject and I understand BPD better than some MH professionals. I have consulted with counselors, doctors, and organizations that aid BPD sufferers. With that said, my comment was intended as an educated theory.

My wife is now happy and healthy and loves me even more for helping to rescue her from a dreadful behavioral pattern that she could not break on her own. Next month is our 12th wedding anniversary. We have a lovely daughter.

No one can diagnose based on an 8 minute recording – least of all me. However, I stand by what I wrote, and believe it may well be a possibility. Time will tell if I was right.

Buck Turgidson on July 13, 2010 at 12:59 PM

He’s every bit the scumbag as his screen-buddy, Danny Glover. She’s right: he needs to be medicated. I’ve gotten mad at girlfriends, before, and one really seemed to go out of her way to mess up my life, and yet never did I yell at her like that. He is an absolutely pathetic excuse for a man. He’s lucky he’s already a billionaire, because after the self-administered destruction of his career he’ll still be able to take care of himself. This woman needs to buy a firearm. I personally recommend a Glock 20, loaded with 10 mm Black Talon rounds.

Virus-X on July 13, 2010 at 1:33 PM

I’m not doubting that he beat her, but when did he admit it?

blink on July 13, 2010 at 1:39 PM

OG: You were hitting a woman with a child in her hands. You! What kind of a man is that, hitting a woman when she’s holding a child in her hands? Breaking her teeth, twice, in the face. What kind of man is that?

MG: Oooh, you’re all angry now! You know what, you fucking deserved it.

You-Eh-Vee on July 13, 2010 at 1:49 PM

Her:
“What kind of man hits a woman in the face, while she’s holding a baby, ripping(sic?) her teeth, twice…?!”

Him:
[maniacal laughter]
“…”
“You *&^%ing deserved it.”

We have the admission above along with threatening to “put her in the rose garden” and that she needs “a *&^%ing bat to the head” and we have some discussing his racism/bigotry? Even worse still, questioning her motives?

Dude, people…

The Crucifixion of Mel Gibson….

Let see, Oksana a well known tramp and manipulator. Not saying she should be abused but unless I put my finger in the sockets where the alleged missing teeth were I am doubtful.

Gibson’s rant Sounds like he was drunk or high at the time. This man has problems. One is that he made a movie called The Passion for which he will never be forgiven by the left who will expoit his weakenss while they overlook trash like Oliver Stone and company. I hope Gibson gets some help and I hope he did not do such a terrible thing to the undeserving tramp Oksana.

SANTA on July 13, 2010 at 2:23 PM

Further note about comment above. I have never been a fan of Mel Gibson as an actor, I always thought he was to loud and somewhat over dramatic. If he did hit the tramp Oksana then the law should go after him and he should be prosecuted for spousal abuse.

SANTA on July 13, 2010 at 2:30 PM

The last tape sounded like they were both reading a script. Something doesn’t smell right about any of this. I wonder if everyone is being had by these two running their own reality show. In this inverted universe, I doubt nothing….

Two sides to every story.

bloggless on July 13, 2010 at 7:25 AM

Three sides- his, hers, and the truth.

kg598301 on July 13, 2010 at 4:09 PM

Mel is vastly more critical a story than oil spill, oil drilling moratorium, new black panther voter intimidation, the racist DOJ, etc.

What? Media ain’t covering those stories. Well, those m…f… should have a bat aside their f…. heads, right Mel?

Captain America on July 13, 2010 at 5:54 PM

Look at that picture of Mel. He looks so sad. He is with her and the sadness is unbearable. It is as if he knows she will march him to his end and there is nothing left.

bloggless on July 13, 2010 at 9:43 PM

hey guys leave mell alone!

he made a movie about jesus and so he is a good person and this is how good people act.

this c*nt, on the other hand is eeevil, because she is hurting this good man who is a good person because he made a movie about jesus and she should be murdered with a baseball bat.

You-Eh-Vee on July 13, 2010 at 12:55 PM

Unfortunately, the people here defending the lunatic, subtly or not so subtly, do seem to care whether she’s a b!tch or not, even though they can’t produce any legitimate evidence that she is one. Unfairly smearing her is more acceptable to them than comdemning the justifiably condemnable Gibson.

I gotta say something in the defense of some of his defenders. I don’t believe all of them are defending him because they see themselves in him; I believe many are doing so because they’ve witnessed his behavior in people close to them, and they are rationalizing and numb because of that. Chalk it up to Stockholm Syndrome, or something related to that.

Bizarro No. 1 on July 14, 2010 at 8:02 AM

Do you want to restrict all comments about Oksana that don’t make her out to be a saint? Or will you allow her to be scrutinized a bit?

blink on July 13, 2010 at 1:37 PM

No one is above scrutiny. However, at this point in time, calling her a manipulative golddigger is offensively ridiculous, and possibly slanderous. Where is the evidence she is one outside of her accusers’ overactive imaginations?

People who are focusing their disgust of the situation on her instead of the clearly deranged Gibson are showing that they aren’t mentally healthy themselves – blaming a victim for provoking her/his victimizer is sick.

Bizarro No. 1 on July 14, 2010 at 8:14 AM

So let me ask this another way.

Are you definitively stating that ANY negative comments about this woman are somehow an attempt to “shift attention” away from Mel’s crazy scary rant?

Are you also definitely stating that anyone that makes any negative comments about this woman are disturbed?

blink on July 13, 2010 at 1:47 PM

Unless those commentating about her negatively are privy to some personal information about their relationship that the rest of us aren’t, I would say that any negative comments about her are inappropriate and unwarranted at this point in time.

It’s one thing to wonder if she is an angel or not, and another to assert that she isn’t one w/o supporting evidence, which is what more than a few people here have done. It’s disgusting. And of those who are wondering if she’s an angel or not, I ask what’s the point of doing so, as though she might somehow be responsible for her own victimization.

The Crucifixion of Mel Gibson? ROFL!

Take out Mel Gibson and replace him with Bill Clinton or John Edwards, and your post is basically the same as their defenders’ who disbelieved the initial allegations, made excuses for them when the truth came out, and focused their criticism on the women they had the affairs with instead of them for cheating on their wives and trying to cover it up.

How does it feel knwing that you are acting just like a degenerate Leftie? :)
