Dem Rep in AZ says Obama won’t come to the border

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) has put herself into overdrive this week in getting distance from President Barack Obama. First she all but called him a liar when disputing his contention that the border is more secure now than at any time in the past 20 years, which Giffords noted was hardly a measure of success. In this appearance on Fox News, Giffords implies that Obama has no real interest in the issue, and neither does his administration. Giffords reminded Fox viewers that Obama has yet to actually come to the border and see the situation for himself, while her constituents have to live with the consequences of federal disinterest in border security. Well, who can blame Obama for not wanting to go to the border? The federal government helpfully instructed people to stay out of American territory that the US apparently declines to defend. Perhaps Obama just wants to show leadership by example.

Priorities, priorities. Obama can’t be expected to defend both Afghanistan and Arizona and we know how important Afghanistan is. Just ask David Brooks and Liz Cheney. And just ask John McCain, if you can catch him in an honest moment. Maybe if Arizona didn’t begin with the letter A.

Brewer has also been beating this drum but I honestly don’t understand why they are making it such a big deal. Scooter or Holder traipsing down there for photo-ops isn’t going to change the administration agenda.
I hope he stays away. It adds to his image as an arrogant jerk who doesn’t care about citizens.

It’s become obvious that until people step up like Rep. Wilson and call out this piece of lying garbage, he’s going to keep it up full time as a matter of policy.
As to the implication that Oliar has no interest in this issue, his interest is diametrically opposed to those of patriotic citizens everywhere, and this fact needs to be exposed.

No, I want Obama to visit the border. And I want it reported just how much military was moved into the area to protect him. If it is as safe as he say’s it is, then there should really be a minimum deployment.

As much as I respect the plight of the border states, I cannot and will not keep calling attention to our Gulf States.
Why are we going to kill all life in the Gulf? Why are we going to kill Americans in the Border States? WTF is going on? Geeze oh Petes, where are our leaders? For crying out loud, enough! Too much.

No, most of the Tucson area is Grijalva’s dictrict (7). Giffords is district 8, which usually leans conservative; she rode in on the same wave Harry Mitchell did (Giffords being pretty as well as married to an astronaut didn’t hurt, but 2006 was a bad year for Republicans and America).
There are several Republican candidates for district 8, Jesse Kelly looks the most promising to me. But also in the race: Andy Goss, Brian Miller, Jon Paton and Jay Quick (sorry I don’t have a web site for Mr. Quick)

There has to be some metrics that we can use to gauge the performance of Senators, Representaives and Congressmen. A voting record is after the fact. Time to change the paradigm.

Is there any doubt that, were Al Qaeda to announce support for all Democratic candidates in the upcoming November elections, not only would hostilities in Afghanistan stop, the Obama administration would be flying them in Military transport planes from Afghanistan to Mexico so they could cross the border and vote.
