Note to our followers on Twitter

posted at 10:08 am on July 6, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Users of Twitter have been mightily frustrated over the past couple of weeks about the down time and slow updates, which appear to be caused by World Cup tweeting.  I usually like to tweet out announcements of new posts, as well as engage in dialogue with others on Twitter, but I’m not able to do that today, thanks to some significant down time.  When it’s back up, I’ll be back on it — yes, I’m addicted — but in the meantime, I have a new Facebook platform where my updates can be seen and discussions launched, thanks to the efforts of Amy the Intern.

Keep an eye on my public page for updates, dialogue, and more fun to come.  Be sure to note that you “like” the page or become a fan if you have a Facebook page of your own, and it will automatically update on your site as well!

No to twitter
No to facebook
No to cellphones
No to . . .
excuse me, the damn kids are on the lawn again.

I swore I’d never join Twitter, but then I also swore I’d never get a Blackberry and I just got one (and I’m already in love with it).

Facebook, however, I can do.

Amy the Intern?

No, no, no. Øbama will not allow greedy capitalists to use interns to exploit workers. Kindly close out your affairs and report to Re-education Camp at noon today.

petefrt on July 6, 2010 at 10:17 AM

No Facebook. No MySpace. No Twitter. Nothing that might make me a metrosexual or retrosexual. I would say nothing that might make me look gay, but Wanda Sykes might show up at my house with the PC police and the thought of that makes me almost turn beta.

NotCoach on July 6, 2010 at 10:17 AM

You won’t be able to Twitter after the fall, better to concentrate on survival skills and hoarding 8-track tapes.

Bishop on July 6, 2010 at 10:17 AM

Bishop on July 6, 2010 at 10:17 AM

Unfortunately, the only 8 track I could probably get a hold of would be my father’s Sergio Franchi tape. Maybe I could find my brother-in-law’s BST tape somewhere And when I die….

It’s ok, any 8-track will serve as cash in the new economy which will sprout after the fall, regardless of its musical content.

Find them, hoard them, protect them; 8-tracks just may keep you alive one fine day.

Ed, AP, and a couple of GR writers, not to mention regular friends of HotAir listed.

@snarkandboobs — The conservative Twitterverse is stacked with interesting conservative ladies who have taken to the medium with a vengeance. Lori Ziganto is one of the best.

Heh.

Texas Tom on July 6, 2010 at 10:39 AM

People think they’re being funny by saying, “What’s Twitter” or “Never heard of it” or similar… but let’s face it… if you don’t know what Twitter is (or “Twitters” for our esteemed POTUS), then you should leave the internet now and never, ever return.

If you guys are going with the 8 tracks again, remember to also stock up on book matches, so you can tear off the covers to make the little wedge to get them to track correctly. Yeah, I’m pretty much all about the tech tips today.

Abby sounds like a teenager for whom the world did not exist until she became aware of it.

Grown up Abby, some of us have lives and do not desire to be alerted every time a human being has a thought.

Grown up Abby, some of us have lives and do not desire to be alerted every time a human being has a thought.

So you DO know what Twitter is, then.

Her comment was about awareness of the existence, and not necessarily the content, of Twitter. She wasn’t referring to you.

Lighten up, homeslice :-)

I have 100s of albums. I even have some 45s and 78s. I even have 2 turntables to play them on.

Will this help me in the new economy?

Greyledge Gal on July 6, 2010 at 11:36 AM

With twitter you can get a dozen opinions on an appropriate tip calculation in minutes! Beats the IPhone and Blackberry tip calculators.

BL@KBIRD on July 6, 2010 at 11:40 AM

Ed,

How about a Hot Air app for smart phones? You could use a sugar-free Peep as the icon!

Anyway, websites like DVICE.com have their own app. I think it would be good for marketing.

Weebork on July 6, 2010 at 11:58 AM

you can tweet if you want to
you can share what on your mind

I have to take Twitter breaks. I enjoy it, but too much of it becomes annoying. There are good days and boring ones.

What’s with the cattiness? People didn’t submit their names to be on that “Top 25 Conservatives on Twitter” list. And they certainly didn’t write their own blurbs. They’re on the list because Matt Lewis thinks they’re awesome, end of story.

I hardly ever tweet, Ed — but like Chauncey Gardiner, “I like to watch”. Besides, it’s all those unguarded 140 character (or less) mutterings that reveal the TRUE inner workings of AllahPundit’s mind. (Bless his tortured soul.)

My collie says:

Maybe there should be a **content warning** on AllahPundit’s tweets.

Mmmm, more like a warning that the Surgeon General of the U.S. has determined that repeated exposure to AllahPundit’s tweets may be hazardous to one’s mental health.

My collie says:

Nevertheless, AllahPundit’s popularity among the twitterettes is duly noted. It’s almost as if beta males RULE in twitterspace.

The female participants certainly DO appear to be a bit (forgive me) “twitterpated” — judging by all of the attention that they lavish upon AP. It may be the one medium where AP has managed to “turn the tables” on Ed.
