Obama: We’re heading in the right direction!

posted at 12:15 pm on July 2, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Barack Obama tried getting ahead of the news curve today by putting his own spin on the jobs report that has been universally seen as negative. Don’t worry, Obama told the cameras; we’re heading in the right direction! In that sense, Obama may remind viewers of another famous declaration that people should remain calm (via The Right Scoop):

How unserious was this announcement? Obama used it to launch his broadband initiative, which will cost almost $800 million and which will create … five thousand jobs. That’s $160,000 per job, but that’s not the most ridiculous calculation in this announcement. In the past month, we had over 650,000 people leave the work force, which is around 130 times the number of jobs Obama offered as a tonic for this month’s report.

And notice that President Chip Diller never mentions that factory orders fell off for the first time in nine months, back to a low not seen since shortly after Obama’s stimulus plan passed.  How’s that for “the right direction”?

He’s Hugo Chavez.

More goodies for the “poor”! I’m sure they will install the smart grid along with the broadband–all the better to install the Dear Leader station and to monitor and cut off your utilities so we can be green.

PattyJ on July 2, 2010 at 1:29 PM

He lies.

Employment picture is even worse when you look at the Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Since June 09 to June 10, 3,054,000 people have left the workforce. In the last two months, 1,335,000 people have left the workforce, more than a third of the total for the last year. 842,000 left in June 10 alone. I suspect this… has to mean we are at zero or negative GDP growth. And nose down.

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.a.htm

If this is the right direction his goal is that we become subsistence farmers, hunters and gatherers.

MMS has issued no offshore drilling permits, NONE, regardless of depth, since the blowout. EPA has revoked 300 permits from refineries and other businesses in TX in the last two months. Junior’s chief economist, Christine Romer, just published an article claiming marginal tax rate increases are “very contactionary”…and what is Junior and the Dem Congress planning to do? Raise marginal rates.

On the right path to poverty and depression, I have to conclude. This is not “incompetence”, which assumes one has a good heart and inept execution. This is intent. Way too many “mistakes”, you can’t buy this level of incompetence.

Harry Schell on July 2, 2010 at 1:29 PM

Leadership: With their own economic policies in complete disarray, Democrats have turned to a tried-and-true tactic: Blame the opposition for your failure. It may be too late — their incompetence is starting to show.

OT-

Could someone in Florida confirm the story on WND about NASA reaching out to Indonesia as a “space partner” per Obama’s instructions to reach out to “Muslim nations”?

Haven’t read that anywhere else. Is that the right direction to go with our Space program? Sharing our knowledge with Muslim nations?

He’s right if the direction he speaks of is down the toilet and into the next great depression. I suggest you exercise you constitutional right to bears arms as soon as possible because you’re going to have to defend what’s yours from the hoards of deadbeats that the liberals have been paying to breed like rats for the last 30 years or so.

We are headed in the right direction, if you’re trying to drive the United States into a crisis that will allow you to make major, drastic changes to our government and economic systems.

Or it could just be spin, or stupidity.

He said we’re heading in the right diection because after getting out of the helicopter he recognized Andrews airforce base and could see the “Won’s” BIG airplane sitting over there waiting for one more of his multi-million dollar travel excursions. He was also exciting that he would be the first black president to pay tribute at a funeral of a Grand Kleagle of the KKK. Transformational days were are in…yes indeed!

I vividly remember my comparative political systems instructor in high school telling us rather emphatically, “You cannot have a depression in a socialist system!”

He was a hardcore conservative, so he didn’t think that was a good thing. The trade off is that there is far less opportunity (because there are no risks to trade off with potential gain) and you have to do with less.

Ultimately the system collapses because it’s run politically rather than efficiently.

I agree – every day we move closer to when worthless, corrupt and incompetent Democrats will be thrown bodily out of office by enraged American voters.

And to the day we rid ourselves of one bigass mistake America, when Mammy and Bammy get kicked to the curb.

“A smarter, more secure electrical grid”…

Presidouche says what? He’s working on a smarter grid that will not be run by coal, natural gas, nuclear, or hydropower, but by enormous personal reserves of a sycophant-fed hydrogenated psyche? Oh, got it.

Stick a fork in this cult.

Western_Civ on July 2, 2010 at 4:54 PM

If Obama’s interpretation of “heading in the right direction” is an out-of-control downward spiral, he is accurate.

Dr. ZhivBlago on July 2, 2010 at 3:59 PM

Actually, you can’t have anything but a depression in a socialist system. It’s just that when you’re IN a depression, any further down isn’t a depression, it’s a collapse.

All government does is get in the way of any recovery. The EPA is one of the worst. There are 64 silver and hard rock mineral mines in northern Idaho but only 3 are working. The EPA has it’s boot on the others. A federal judge in Montana just stopped 3 logging operations because he didn’t like their environmental impact study on bears done by the US Forest Service. How many more segments of industry are there like these? Probably legion.

Yes, According to Obama’s and the democrat party’s agenda, they are going in what they consider the right direction and that direction is to turn the United States into a socialist Nation. His policies are to destroy the free market and create massive unemployment. They, in a few years, will destroy what was once, the greatest Health System in the world.
