Video: G20 looter in Toronto taken down to the pavement
posted at 5:08 pm on June 29, 2010 by Allahpundit
A palate cleanser via Iowahawk, who subtitles this one “Rage Against My Allowance.” Say, how come there are no cops around to cuff this black-bloc idiot? Well, funny thing: On Saturday, Toronto PD decided to avoid confrontation as anarchists and far-left dregs of various stripes burned cars and smashed windows in the name of “human rights” or whatever. That didn’t sit well with the public, so they changed tactics that night and ended up beating people the next day who, er, weren’t rioting. No estimates yet on the total damage, but according to Toronto’s mayor, it was a “mistake” to hold the summit there. How’s that for a vote of confidence in the city from the man in charge?
Two clips, one of the takedown and the other of the cops’ day-after “tactics.” I must say, as a lifelong New Yorker, I’ve never seen the NYPD perform a fake-charge.

Blowback

The Toronto city government must of fell for the BS Daily Show comparison of the Tea Parties and the G-20 in Pittsburg demonstrations.
dIb on June 29, 2010 at 5:13 PM
Remember all the crap that happened in London a year ago? Apparently, rioters have the right to riot.
Some 15 or 16 year old girl, when into a bank in the city of London that had it’s windows smashed and began destroying computers. She was arrested and presented the bill for her tantrum. I forgot the amount but it was tens of thousands of dollars. She kept whining that there was no way she could pay it all back. Well, that’s why we don’t do things like that.
Blake on June 29, 2010 at 5:14 PM
The only new twist here is that now they are opening looting the stores after they smash the windows.
Isn’t this amazing? The MSM has been waiting with bated breath for over a year and a half for the Tea Parties to erupt into the inevitable violence that MUST happen since – as the Progressive Left well knows – the The Tea Party is made up of violent extremists.
And yet in a year and a half, not one policeman has been assaulted, not one store window has been smashed, not one store has been looted and not a single car has been set on fire.
Yet for about 15 years now they can’t hold a G-20 without violent Leftist activists showing up and throwing firebombs and damaging property.
And for 15 years in a row or more the organizers of these protests come out and give their rote excuse about their ‘peaceful protest’ being ‘hijacked’ by anarchists. They are just shocked – SHOCKED!@!! – that these guys keep showing up every single year to hijack their peaceful protest.
So the violence isn’t their ‘fault’, so the Left doesn’t ‘own’ it the way the Tea Party would if one crazy guy ever shows up and decks a cop.
manofaiki on June 29, 2010 at 5:16 PM
It’s a sad thing when even the police are compromised by the left. They used to be a bastion of conservative thought and action.
Buford Gooch on June 29, 2010 at 5:16 PM
Toronto’s mayor, David Miller, is the biggest lefty weanie of them all. He’s embarassed that all the lefty supporters (the people who voted for him) cheered on the anarchists breaking windows. If more of them had pushed back like the fellow we see in the first video who tackles the looter, much of the destruction would never have happened. But they not only didn’t push back, they cheered them on and provided them cover.

Dear G20,
Please hold your next meeting in Phoenix. With our soon-to-be-enacted Alaska-style carry laws, one hour, nay, one minute of anarchists rioting in streets is all that will happen.
Sincerely,
Arizona.

YYZ on June 29, 2010 at 5:19 PM
Definitely a misleading title for the video: Riot police “rush” the singers? Four people sitting on the pavement get chased away, and the rest of the cops advance 10 yards then stand there, and they call that “rushing” the singers?
The cops are just following the last line of the song:
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Steve Z on June 29, 2010 at 5:19 PM
Good for him. The cretin needs an ass-whooping.
amerpundit on June 29, 2010 at 5:19 PM
Was the takedown in the first video by a passer-by or by a protester that didn’t want people to loot?
As for the second video, I find it interesting that they go from singing “O Canada” to shrieking “You’re f-ing animals!!!” as soon as the riot police make even the smallest move. Now, it’s been a while since I’ve seen the clips, but, I can’t recall the people protesting with Ghandi or MLK dropping the f-bomb and they were actually getting a beating, not just getting a good fright.
JadeNYU on June 29, 2010 at 5:20 PM
The silver lining is all the injured protestors have cheap, affordable, and quality healthcare to patch them up.
Besides…whats’ a little wood-shampoo among friends, ay?

Mr Purple on June 29, 2010 at 5:26 PM
I haven’t seen that first video, but the second one is making the rounds here in Toronto.
Basically the anarchist wackjobs went nuts on Saturday, running through the streets and breaking windows, spraypainting graffiti (“bomb the banks” is written near my office), throwing poop and urine around and of course setting cop cars on fire.
And of course the so-called peaceful protestors were not so innocent – many of them were screaming swear words at the cops, throwing things at them, hiding the anarchists amongst them after they changed out of their black bloc uniforms and refusing to condemn the violence. And naturally when the police did arrest many of them they are now screaming “police brutality” at the top of their lungs.
I’m with the police 100% here even if our local media sides with the protestors (what do you expect – it’s Toronto!) Most of the protestors came here looking for trouble – stupid lefty hippies.
CityFish on June 29, 2010 at 5:27 PM
Meh, it was pretty good, but there was no bounce, the guy didn’t follow the looter down with a knee, no pimp slap. I’ve been hit harder on the Rugby pitch. Still for an amateur I’d give him a 7.5.

Two of my favorites:
1) When the “rebels” took over the NYU library building and after about 24 hours the authorities had had enough. The video taken from the inside by the rebels when the police simply pushed their barricade aside and entered and told them they were all under expulsion rules if one of the funniest YouTubes ever.
2) When Code Pink were dressed as zombies and got tossed out of a committee meeting – by Barney Frank.

Do they have an idea -at all- why they’re protesting? This looks like the 60′s day-out-of-classes-to-get-stoned-and-protest-the-war-or-something days. They’re protesting capitalism (I presume) and singing praise to their capitalist country…and God.

Do you remember the Rodney King riots in LA, California?
The police did NOTHING to protect citizens from all the violence, murder, maiming, bashed skulls, shootings, lootings, robberies, arson, and so on. NOTHING!
They allowed the violent Los Angeles area citizens to wreak havoc, virtually destroying the entire city.
Why are the police being paid any money if they are going to do nothing but collect a pay check?
In lieu of police not doing their jobs, and in lieu of government its job, Korean shop keepers kept watch over their businesses and homes via shotguns, rifles, handguns, etc. What else could they do?
Notice who many of the looters were in that scence.
Hint: They are a people who are perpetually outraged and perteually expecting entitlements of all kinds – special consideration in hiring, special consideration in politics, special consideration as a “preferred group.”
One thing is clear. Leftists are violent. Conservatives are not violent, save in self defense.
I have virtually no respect for Canadaians any longer.
Same for US citizens, who were stupid enough to vote Socialists, Maoists, Stalinists, Marxists nuts into office and get on with the business of destroying a once great nation.

Earlier in the day, at the police briefing a notice was read to the large crowd of officers about to go on duty that made mention of several well-known drug dealers had been seen in the area. Unfortunately, it’s common practice to refer to drug buyers as “crack heads”.
Given the drama, tension, mood, and mostly noise of the event, the police officers thought they had been issued orders to get there and “round’em up and crack some heads”.
Which they dutifully did.
