Video: Michelle Malkin rips Salazar on Hannity

posted at 10:55 am on June 24, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

After writing a scathing column on the Obama administration’s humiliating defeat in federal court over their drilling moratorium, the Boss Emeritus appeared on Sean Hannity’s show last night to expound on the subject further. Read the entire 22-page opinion, Michelle urges, because it may be the best corroboration of the consistent conservative assessment of Obama, which is that everything is manipulated to further political ends. Judge Feldman recognized the dishonesty in the government’s presentation and only thinly covered his contempt with legal jargon. The Right Scoop caught the video last night:

Michelle rightly focuses on Ken Salazar for her ass-kicking column and appearance, but we should also keep Barack Obama front and center as well. Salazar fronted the drilling moratorium, but that was Obama’s decision. Either Obama heard the recommendations of the scientists that Salazar later misrepresented and decided to defy them, or he wasn’t engaged enough to bother finding out what his own expert panel had to say about the most exigent crisis in the US for the last two months. He’s either just as dishonest as Salazar — and keeping Salazar after this makes that even more clear — or he’s too busy playing golf and meeting with sports teams to care one way or the other.

The pushback on this criticism has been, “Well, you can’t expect the President to climb into a boat and go plug the leak himself!” Of course not — but we can expect him to pay attention to the panel of experts that he himself commissioned to deal with the crisis. If Obama is too disengaged to do even that much, then he’s not leading at all. And if he did listen and still decided to put a blanket moratorium on drilling despite their explicit rejection of such a move and allowed Salazar to lie about it, then he owns the dishonesty, and still owes the US an explanation as to why he defied his own self-selected experts in imposing that damaging policy.

Salaczar is nasty. His cheating on the report by the experts was not the first mistake.
Now he says point blank, he wants to disobey the court.
I suspect he is also told to do some of the stunts he is involved with.

Funny how the MSM other than Fox just managed to overlook that signficant part of the judge’s decision.

The pushback on this criticism has been, “Well, you can’t expect the President to climb into a boat and go plug the leak himself!”

Governor Bobby Jindal HAS climbed into boats used to skim oil from the water, and the Obama Administration told him to go back to shore and get a life jacket. Obama won’t even let Jindal “pound sand” to protect his state’s beaches.

Methinks Governor Jindal is looking for some @$$ to kick!

Again, we shouldn’t be surprised for the O Admin following their own agenda at any cost. The environmental-lefties
are having a lot of fun with this: “We have to teach these oil loving, gun toting Americans (especially those dumb Southerners driving their pick up trucks) a lesson, by having all this oil saute on their red-necked shores!”

but we can expect him to pay attention to the panel of experts that he himself commissioned to deal with the crisis. If Obama is too disengaged to do even that much, then he’s not leading at all.

I think he paid attention to the panel, then dismissed their recommendations because they didn’t fit what he wanted to do. Then he ordered Salazar to misrepresent the results and order the moronatorium anyway.

forest on June 24, 2010 at 11:10 AM

The commission was just a front for PBHO’s decision to halt drilling, a decision that was made long before the commission results were published. He thought they would recommend the course of action he wanted, and when they didn’t, well under the bus they went.

PBHO is getting personal advice from eco groups that have have a vested interest in stopping oil drilling, how did you think he would rule on this issue?

Bishop on June 24, 2010 at 11:14 AM

People have to understand that Obama has nothing to gain from a resumption of offshore drilling because he has his money on another horse. A nation of fools that needs to be jerked back to reality. I have wondered how anyone could possible be so inept but I think the answer lies in the sites I am going to leave with you. It doesn’t make any difference which one you read first, they all lead to the same place when you connect them to all of the the other scurolous behaviors on the part of this administration.

“Well, you can’t expect the President to climb into a boat and go plug the leak himself!” Of course not.

Well why the hell not. GW was supposed to evac 10′s of thousands of people that didn’t heed the warning to get out of New Orleans. Put them up in suitable accommodations and cook their meals. Then he was required to drive down to Waveland Mississippi and stand on the beach and turn back a hurricane. When that failed he didn’t rush to the broken levees in New Orleans and plug those breaches. Never mind the design flaw that the pumping stations were based inland on canals as opposed to directly at their inlets at Lake Pontchartrain. Then rebuild a city that is below sea level. Not to mention the Gulf Coast that was wiped from the face of the Earth. As if Katrina wasn’t enough Rita barrels thru a month later.

Hell Barry can’t even fix a broken pipe. Dazzle us Barry and reverse the rotation of the planet and turn back the clock to the day before the explosion. Ya had plenty of warning since ya should of known there was a problem with the well back in February.

We are quickly getting to the point where we not only need to stand up to the Obamacrats on specific legalities, but we need to challenge whether they are actually living up to their oath of office.

Obstructing oil spill cleanup efforts is a direct attack on the United States. Obstructing enforcement of our borders and failing to protect our citizens from invaders is treasonous.

landlines on June 24, 2010 at 11:25 AM

PBHO is suing Arizona, the gulf states should get together and sue the federal government for its dereliction of duty in regards to the oil spill. Can individual citizens sue the feds too (I have no idea), if so they should flood the courts with lawsuits.

Bishop on June 24, 2010 at 11:30 AM

Why is this guy Salazar still in office? You can fire a perfectly competent general who made a few wise a$$ remarks, but this guy stays? This administration smells like raw sewage.

scalleywag on June 24, 2010 at 11:31 AM

I have been wondering how anyone could be so incompetent with regard to the problem in the gulf. Such failure seemed implausible but I have come to see what the story is with respect to offshore drilling: There is no money in it for many people and much money in other ventures. I invite your attention to the following sites and you can draw your conclusion but it should be obvious what is happening with this administration. Isuggest that you read hear and read ALL carefully and pass it on.

Kissmygrits on June 24, 2010 at 11:32 AM

To say that the oil/gas industry was pushed offshore is not exactly true. Maybe it is a good thing that they have been since there have been some enormous discoveries in deepwater GoM, not known to exist, just in the last few years. The reserves in deepwater GoM now exceed Alaska and they have not been actually produced yet.

No problem with that. One caveat though the oil shale reserves in the western states appear to be as significant as the gulf finds and would be safer to drill at this time. I do understand that as we drill the deep finds in the gulf we will refine our safety techniques and so shouldn’t cease drilling there either. Where ever we drill we cannot eliminate all risk.
