Dem Rep says “minorities, defective[s]” not “average, good American people”
posted at 11:36 am on June 24, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
On one hand, Paul Kanjorski’s defenders can argue that the Democrat from Pennsylvania was attempting a bit of demagogic hyperbole in describing Republican attitudes towards welfare programs in his tirade yesterday, caught by C-SPAN3, Human Events, and Kerry Picket at the Washington Times. On the other hand, Kanjorski’s contention that “minorities” and “defective” constituents are somehow different than “average, good American people” certainly sounds less like hyperbolic irony and more like a projection of Kanjorski’s own bigotry. It only takes Kanjorski less than a minute to run off the rails:
We’re giving relief to people that I deal with in my office every day now unfortunately. But because of the longevity of this recession, these are people — and they’re not minorities and they’re not defective and they’re not all the things you’d like to insinuate that these programs are about — these are average, good American people.
Stephen Gutowski wonders whether the media will treat this with as much attention as if a Republican had said it:
I’m sure that the media will jump all over this indisputable video evidence of a rep with a D next to his name saying something racist. Just like they did when there was indisputable video evidence of a rep with a D next to his name assaulting someone on a public sidewalk. The media is always thorough and diligent when exposing corruption and disgrace within the Democratic party after all.
And I’m sure that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will be demanding Kanjorski apologize for his racist remarks and resign. You know, like they did with Joe Biden and Harry Reid. Surely Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, being men of integrity and all, wont stand for a major political party in the United States to allow people who make dubious racial remarks stay in power.
This statement is a lot more concrete than George Allen’s “macaca moment,” and that got wall-to-wall coverage in the 2006 election cycle. Kanjorski is running for re-election in his district, which makes this very similar to the “macaca” coverage. Will the media provide the same level of exposure to a much more obvious (and deliberate) example of bigotry?
For that matter, the national media has clung to the Joe Barton apology to BP for days, even after almost every other Republican in Congress distanced themselves from it. Doesn’t this seem a little more newsworthy?

The conservative question is not “do helpless people need help?” Yes, they need help. The question is, “why would you let an inefficient money-skimming federal government get anywhere near it?” There are much better, more dignified, and cheaper ways to solve the problem of helping the helpless. Government lives “by bread alone,” but people do not.

Kajorski was also outraged! to discover some states are non recourse while his PA is not. He thinks all states should be the same on recourse, in fact the House is moving to make sure people cannot default on their mortgages. Which will make it harder for the economy to recover as peeps are tied to their houses which no one can sell in Obamaconomy. I do not like strategic walkaways but I see why they are doing so, when FANNIE FREDDIE stop pumping taxpayers dry THEN they can whine to me about walkaways. Why can ROn Artest walk away and not Joe Schmo? frakkers
Jeb Hensarling has the big bank lobbyists FREAKING OUT right now cuz he penciled in language that makes FAN FRED ‘financial institutions’ in the definition of the FinReg bill, which would mean the big banks would have to help mop up the mess they helped make selling bad loans to said FAN FRED leeches.

If you need any more evidence as to why Fancy Nancy could go all Joe Namath and garuantee that the Dhims would hold the House through the mid-terms, look no further.
Between the voter fraud, election stealing of ACORNish groups couplede with the Sec’y of States Project worth at 2-4% pts and dereliction of duty by the fourth estate that assures that anything said/done by a Dhim (see; Gore’s 07 sex assault in Portland) will be swept under that rug, while anything remotely construed as offensive By Rep’s will be blown out of all proportion to level of a war crime has gotta be worth an extra 3-5% points.
Given that most races are tied (Johnson v Feingold) to within a 7pt differential (Angle v Reid) the disparity is easily countered by the entrenched advantages listed above. Toss in that union members and Black Panthers have virtual immunity from Holder’s DOJ to do as they wish to persaude perceived from excercising their the constitutional right to vote and you can understand Nancy’s cockiness.
And she just might be right in being so, given the built-in 3-9% margin they enjoy before the the votes are even cast.

The Dems only care about minority votes. That’s all. Their policies are a disaster for everyone.
What they offer minorities is a cheap bribe for their lives and dignity. Those who refuse to participate are “racist,” “stupid,” “Bible-clinging, typical white folks.” They will denigrate millions of people to maintain their control over their voters.
Democrats can only succeed with bribery, fomenting hatred and creating divisiveness that is destroying this country. The only people who benefit are the corrupt, very corrupt, oligarchs like Pelosi, Reid, Gore, Clinton(s), etc. It’s all about power and money and has nothing to do with the good of the country and its people.
They are owned by Soros, Lewis and other parasites.

And the irony is that their belief that upward mobility for the poor is impossible has damn near made it so. The hurdles a black kid from the bad parts of NYC or L.A. has to jump to get out of the ‘hood and into a successful life is major and a lot of it comes from The New Left.
For instance, the New Left when they were nothing but drug-addicted upper-class white kids introduced The Drug Revolut!on into minority neighborhoods. They also introduced the Sexual Revolut!on to disastrous results. They legitimized terrible destructive behavior.
So, right off the bat, the kid from Chicago’s South Side might have to deal with a drug addicted mother and not having a father, then he has local and national culture issues demanding he behave in ways that will not lead to a successful life. Thanks to the New Left when they were nothing but drug-addicted sex-crazed spoiled white kids.

I’m not in the habit of defending liberals, but he IS describing someone else’s (Republicans?) attitude toward people on relief programs. It’s a mighty big stretch to portray this as racism.
Sadly, Republicans have often been victimized by just that kind of stretch…but it’s wrong, no matter which side is doing it.
Dee2008 on June 24, 2010 at 12:54 PM
Democrats have engaged for decades in racism – they call it “compassion.” Normal people call it the soft bigotry of low expectations. The Democrats are basically telling ethnic and racial minorities that they will never be anything in life – based on their race – without the Democrat party to “fight for them.”
Hence, they not only accuse anybody who isn’t a Democrat of being a de facto racist, but they also perpetuate and nurture racist tendencies between ethnic and other minority groups, thereby assuring they will never assimilate fully into American society. The groups unfortunate enougth to be shammed into this role will remain balkanized, squabbling interest groups that are nothing more (to a Democrat politician) than a voting block designed to keep a Democrat in power.
The legions of Dummycrats that voted this clown in will continue to pull that lever for him.
Democrats are determined to root out and destroy all racism in American society – except for the blatant and rampant racism expressed and trafficked amongst Democrats. In which case, they’ll just blame a Republican for it. Any Republican, and they don’t even have to say anything. Republicans are, by Democrat definition, “racist.” So, there you go. No thought required.
