McCain backs Kyl: Obama told other GOP senators that border security is conditioned on amnesty

posted at 6:10 pm on June 22, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Cubachi, a little fuel for the fire set by Kyl a few days ago from a man who now insists “I never supported amnesty.” Skip ahead to 12:24 for the key bit. This isn’t as credible as Kyl’s revelation, partly because Maverick relies on weasel words (“basically”), partly because it seems less likely that Obama would say this to a group than to one senator in the confidence of the Oval Office, and partly because McCain obviously has a strong electoral incentive to set himself up as a border warrior vis-a-vis The One. But that doesn’t mean it’s not true: In fact, courtesy of Naked Emperor News, check out the second clip below of Obama circa 2004 talking explicitly about border security and amnesty as a political “trade off,” which is precisely what they are. In no sense are the two joined at the hip as a matter of policy; in fact, as I’ve argued before, the feds would be more likely to bring conservatives around on some sort of amnesty if they showed good faith by taking care of the border first. But since Latinos won’t stand for that, neither will a Democratic or Republican president. Hence the obvious “trade off,” and hence The One’s candor in chattering about this with Republicans. We all know the score. Why pretend otherwise?

I don’t know Allah. If we hit a severe double dip, I think anything related to amnesty is off the table. I know the polls show different, but I don’t see a upside to this economy. And important 3rd world peasants is not the way to grow the economy.

oh how I yearn for the GOP of my yout’, that GOP (the ones I railed about) would ‘Demand!’ a wall on the southern border in AZ, calling it a JOBS BILL. but noooooo we have the urbane gentlemen of the GOP on the floor, Pfft! fight against the dying of the light dammit! the polls are showing them the Latino vote HAS NOT MOVED ONE IOTA since this debate began a few months ago. What are they afraid of?

I love race politics. Because of ethnicity we tolerate a sizable minority in this country that doesn’t want to enforce the laws or protect our border. I can only assume they don’t really think of it as our border at all. The salad bowl theory in action. Yippea!

Breaking news: Obama asks Senators Kyl and McCain to tender their resignations, because they should know never, ever, ever, ever, ever speak out against The Won Who Whines.

democrat polling firm, Public Policy Polling, says Latinos are running towards the democrat party in droves thanks to Arizona. DROVES!

Hispanics moving toward Democratic candidates since the Arizona immigration bill was signed is becoming a trend in our polling of western states. Previous races where we polled before and after the signing of the immigration bill showed Rodney Glassman going from a 17 point deficit against John McCain with Hispanics to a 17 point lead, Michael Bennet going from a 12 point lead to a 21 point lead against Jane Norton with them, and Terry Goddard going from a 20 point lead to a 46 point lead with them.

There’s no doubt the immigration bill is popular nationally. But if it causes Hispanics to change their voting behavior without a parallel shift among whites then it’s going to end up playing to Democratic advantage this fall. It’s much more important to look at how Hispanic voters in states with large Hispanic populations are reacting than it is to look at the national numbers, at least as it pertains to this fall’s election.

By “Hispanic” they probably mean illegal Mexicans. Talk to some Cubans who came here legally, who escaped communism and who are strong family values type people. They’ll be going Republican in 2010 and this comes out of Miami.

It would explain why Obama is so incensed by the new Arizona immigration law. Being tough on new arrivals to Arizona, illegal arrivals, makes Obama spend a political chip that he was saving. The duty to accept and deport illegals was something he planned to bargain with, later.

The Ones own words, plus two apparent witnesses, provide for a legitimate legal case for the assertion of dereliction of duty as sworn to at his innauguration.

When will the calls for impeachment emerge?

I think the Rep’s are seriously concerned that, with the proclivity of progressives to agitate race relations, a possibility of widespread racial violence. Exit question, will the rule of law be held hostage against the threat of a race war?

Archimedes on June 22, 2010 at 6:46 PM

Part and parcel with a “rule or ruin” strategy employed by some sociopaths when they can’t get what they want by other means.

Why else is the Gulf spill such a mess? You can’t pay people to be this incompetent.

Now the border, and lives of “small people” are on the line so Junior can get his amnesty bill and mess of new Democrat voters.

So much for your concern for the little guy, slimeball.

Just because you have an unlimited supply of arugula and golf balls does not make it right.

Senators Challenge Pres. Obama on Rumors of Executive Order Amnesty

Several Senators have learned of a possible plan by the Obama Administration that would provide a mass Amnesty for the nation’s 11-18 million illegal aliens. Led by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), eight Senators addressed a letter to the President asking for answers to questions about a plan that would allow DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to provide an amnesty if they can’t secure enough votes for a bill in the Senate.

Now, thanks to Obama, the party boy in chief, the drug cartel is taking over southern AZ.

From Fox News:

Mexican drug cartels have set up shop on American soil, maintaining lookout bases in strategic locations in the hills of southern Arizona from which their scouts can monitor every move made by law enforcement officials, federal agents tell Fox News.

The scouts are supplied by drivers who bring them food, water, batteries for radios — all the items they need to stay in the wilderness for a long time.

“To say that this area is out of control is an understatement,” said an agent who patrols the area and asked not to be named. “We (federal border agents), as well as the Pima County Sheriff Office and the Bureau of Land Management, can attest to that.”

When the GOP regains a majority, we conservatives have to be as rabid about this as the left was about the War in Iraq. This and the debt are life or death matters for this country.
Illegal immigration is easy to stop, the politicians are talking up the difficulty of it because they would rather not. The Republicans because the Rovian wing things we need to worry about losing the Hispanic vote, and the Democrats because if illegal immigration goes unabated for another decade then this country will permanently become a welfare state. If the GOP fails to seal up the border, we need to turn on a dime and bolt for a third party. The thought of another period of Bushesque Republican immigration policy makes me nauseous.

austinnelly on June 23, 2010 at 2:35 AM

Dear leader is being very transparent if only people were looking at him from the perspective of it’s all political all the time. He’s out to get what he wants and come out of it with as much on his side of the deal as he can get. If he can’t get what he wants that way, he brings the full force of the federal govmint to bear. That’s another reason BP gave up the $20B so quickly and the rule of law went into the crapper. Amnesty is his target just like single payer. It’s gonna happen sooner or later.

Kissmygrits on June 23, 2010 at 9:40 AM

Africa is a continent, not a race and Mexico is a country, not a race and illegal is a condition, not a race so were’not talking about racial issues here but cultural issues and national issues and if we don’t clean up these issues on the border, the border will become even more useless than it is now. Time to bring the drones home and move the desert training center from Ft. Irwin, CA to Arizona and the entire border. A few live fire excercises might get their attention but that would involve our Constitution and and the protection of our country and the Obamarrhoid seems somewhat averse to abiding by his oath.
