Texas Congressional nominee wants to impeach Obama, opposes UN

posted at 12:15 pm on June 21, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Republicans have had a huge laugh at the expense of South Carolina Democrats, who nominated Alvin Greene to challenge for Jim DeMint’s Senate seat despite the fact that Greene didn’t campaign, has a pending felony obscenity investigation, and is barely coherent in his media interviews.  Now it may be time for Democrats to laugh at Republicans.  The nominee for the Texas’ CD-22 has publicly called for Barack Obama’s impeachment and wants to abolish the UN.  Democrats would have a field day making Kesha Rogers the face of the Republican Party across the entire nation … if it weren’t for the fact that Rogers is a Democrat:

South Carolina’s unexpected Democratic nominee for the US Senate, mystery man Alvin Greene, says he wants to play golf with Barack Obama. But in Texas, another surprise Democratic primary winner, congressional nominee Kesha Rogers, wants to impeach the President. So while South Carolina party officials are still unsure of what to do about Greene’s success at the ballot box, Texas Democrats have no such reservations — they wasted little time in casting Rogers into exile and offering no support or recognition of her campaign to win what once was Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s old seat.

Rogers, 33, told TIME she is a “full time political activist” in the Lyndon LaRouche Youth Movement, a recruiting arm of the LaRouche political organization that is active on many college campuses. The LYM espouses LaRouche opposition to free trade and “globalism” (the UN, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund) and it also calls for a return to a humanist classical education, emphasizing the works of Plato and Leibnitz. On her professional looking campaign website, kesharogers.com, she touts the LaRouche political philosophy — a mix of support for the economic policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the impeachment of President Obama — and calls Obama a “London and Wall Street backed puppet” whose policies will destroy the Democratic Party.

Well, maybe Texas Democrats in the 22nd district just got fooled from another Greene-like stealth candidacy.  I’m sure they didn’t hear about Rogers’ nutty, LaRouchian politics before casting their ballots.  Rogers probably got listed first on the ballot, right?  Actually she was, but that’s not why she won:

Unlike South Carolina’s Greene, Rogers ran a high profile campaign, staking out a corner on a major intersection in the district to appear almost daily with a large sign: “Save NASA. Impeach Obama.” She garnered 7,467 votes, 53% of the vote, in a three way race that included a local information systems analyst Doug Blatt, who gained endorsements from local Democratic clubs and labor groups, and Freddie John Weider Jr., a preacher and onetime Libertarian candidate; Blatt came in second with 28% of the vote and Weider won 20%.

Now Democrats have refused to provide her any support, Time reports, accusing her of racism because of her connection to the LaRouche movement — which is an interesting allegation, considering that Rogers is African-American.  Maybe someone should have looked at her picture before leaping immediately to the race-baiting smear.  They would have been better off questioning her sanity.

Texas-22 will likely be a footnote in the midterm elections, with incumbent Republican Pete Olsen handily beating Rogers in the general election.  It should draw attention to one widely misreported aspect of the Tea Party movement, however:

During the campaign, she was photographed carrying an oversized portrait of the President with a Hitler-style moustache penciled on his lip.

As those of us who have attended the Tea Party rallies and followed the movement know, it’s been the LaRouchies all along who have brought the Obama-as-Nazi posters along.  The media, however, insisted on tarring the entire movement with those posters rather than report on their actual origin.  I wonder whether they’ll be inclined to treat the Democratic Party the same — and in this case, Rogers won an election among Democrats based in part on that campaign imagery.

btw – what is it exactly that Greene and Rogers have in common? Are the Dems saying black citizens need not apply for public office in their party?

I could do without the Hitler posters, but I’m all for abolishing the UN and impeaching Obama — although I’m not sure Biden would be an improvement.
Overall I have to say, “You go, girl!”

Did these two come from primarily a black voter area? Are they being voted for because the districts residents are voting for something other than qualifications?

why wouldn’t the dems use the formula for as many other Manchurian candidates as they can get into office, telling the people what they want to hear…then the trap snaps shut when it is too late. obama/alinsky 101

How cheerfully the Obama Regime seems to grin
How neatly it spreads it’s claws
And welcomes little fishes in
With gently smiling jaws!

How doth the Obama crocodile
Spin it’s deceiving tale
And test the nation with attempted guile
On such a grand scale!

Just read a quote from Kesha Rogers posted by PappyD, who by the way is a must-read for me every time he posts. But I wonder if Pappy buys the quote, which is so over the top for any candidate, let alone a democrat, that it stinks to high heaven. It also has the empty echoes so reminiscent of obama when she says, “Real patriots understand the need to think ahead, to create a meaningful purpose and direction as we rebuild our nation.”

If she wasn’t a fake, she would have linked the words “patriots” and “nation” with the restoration of constitutional directives as the means to “rebuild our nation.” Instead of offering the Constitution, she thinks that we need to “create meaningful purpose and direction.” That’s classic democrat/obamaspeak.

Anyway, it wouldn’t matter to me if she did revere the Constitution. She is a democrat. That makes her candidacy, let alone her election to office, dangerous and off limits for any thinking person over the age of 12.

And let’s not forget the golden rule, adhered to religiously: All Democrats are Abortion Pushers.

Anyway, I know that most here are just exercising their imaginations. Still, given the incredibly dangerous situation we find ourselves in, I think our energies could be better spent calling for the impeachment/resignation of our extortionist-in-cheif, (Think GM, Chrysler, TARP, Stimulus, BP) and master of dereliction of duty and refusal to fulfill duties of office. (Think refusal to waive Jones Act, obtain boom, allow governors to act, build sand berms) and liar-to-the-people-and-industry-destroyer extraordinaire (lying about the commission he appointed, saying that they recommended closing all offshore drilling for six months. Commission says they did not recommend anything of the sort.)

Anyway, whether or not in political reality obama can be impeached is not really the point right now. It should be demanded by the people and conservative media ceaselessly until the din is overpowering and the ‘rats can’t take it anymore.

tigerlily on June 21, 2010 at 1:43 PM

Rogers: Out of the UN!

Crowd: YAY!

Rogers: Impeach Obama!

Crowd: YAY!

Rogers: Bring back FDR’s massive taxes and social programs, restructure the economy from a central authority!

Crowd: Ya… wait, what?

mojo on June 21, 2010 at 1:55 PM

If Obama were impeached and the UN abolished, the world might actually be saved.

fossten on June 21, 2010 at 1:33 PM

I do like drama, and I like sci-fi too, but Obama and the UN are not going to blow up the world. Both are not doing it any good, no, and that’s being generous.

That doesn’t mean everyone should immediately jump on the bandwagon of crazy because the driver has a catch phrase or two that makes you feel warm inside.

Also note, she’s running for Congress, not President of the Universe. She’s not really going to be doing any UN abolishing or presidential impeaching. Not only are her political philosophies suspect, but her means to implement them are nil.

So, like I said, I’m happy she’s a Democrat and she’ll be fun to watch.

Heralder on June 21, 2010 at 2:06 PM

The president has no legal authority to create the escrow fund and no authority to compel BP to contribute to the fund. Forcing BP to agree to the terms of the escrow is ultra vires (i.e., illegal), beyond the powers of his office. Rep. Barton (R-TX) accurately described the slush fund as a “shakedown” (i.e., blackmail), a felony. If so, Pres. Obama has committed an impeachable offense.

The president employed a similar tactic when he nationalized GM, violating the bankruptcy laws by denying bondholders their rightful control of the future of those enterprises, and he gave the bondholders’ interest in GM to the unions instead, literally. He gave Chrysler to Fiat. The bondholders of both gave their consent, being afraid of having their asses kicked or having a boot on their necks.

When an executive uses threats to secure the “cooperation” of private businesses, we have a name for it: fascism. It is the kind of act we expect from Venezuela’s Chávez, not from a president who swore to uphold the U.S. Constitution and its separation of powers. I believe the President’s behavior is ultra vires and that he has committed an impeachable offense.

I expect Nancy Pelosi to point to Rogers as a perfect example of the Tea Party / LaRouche, joined at the hip forever, connection. Reid will then explain how the Democrats must remain vigilant as the Tea Party infiltrates the Democratic party!

And the MSM will deride this entire episode as the act of the right wing militia’s trying to subvert the Democratic Party.

The nominee for the Texas’ CD-22 has publicly called for Barack Obama’s impeachment and wants to abolish the UN.

Both are excellent ideas. Well, the UN is just another money-sucking bureaucracy, so I wouldn’t mind if it continues to exist (as long as the US gets out and they no longer have our money with which to beat us over the head).

Was that the rest of the statement you were looking for? :)

I’m surprised at the lack of pickyness. If any conservative shows even a sliver of RINO-ism they’re strung up and whipped as traitors, but just leaping all the way to the left is okay if that person hates Obama?

Let’s regain our senses here. Hating on the president doesn’t make you politically intelligent or your overall message worthwhile. The left tried that for the last eight years.

FYI: Impeachment is a political check, Congress can impeach and convict any official, for any reason. As long as they’re willing to face the voters afterwards.

No criminal acts required.

So if a majority of the voters decide Obama needs to go, and a majority of each house of Congress is willing to go there, Obama can be removed from office, Constitutionally.
