Kyl: Obama told me he won’t secure the border until Congress agrees to amnesty
posted at 8:00 pm on June 20, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via ColdWarrior at Red State, the whole clip’s worth watching but skip ahead to three minutes in for the money bit. Does any term of art exist to describe a revelation that’s shocking in one sense and yet not at all surprising in another? (“Kinsleyan gaffe” is in the ballpark, but that’s not quite what this is.) Of course The One won’t do anything about the border until he gets some political cover from Congress on amnesty; his party wants to build a heavy Democratic majority among Latinos long-term and he’s not going to mess that up. What’s stunning is simply the fact that he’d be so candid, to a member of the opposition no less, in admitting his dereliction of duty. Sure, he could fulfill his constitutional responsibility and try to enforce federal law — but what good will that do him politically? If Congress wants to see some action at the border, they need to make it worth his while. And you thought the BP deal was a “shakedown.”
Painful exit question: Isn’t this yet another example of Obama carrying on Bush’s policies? Dubya might not have been as blunt about the reason for his own poor track record on border enforcement, but let’s not kid ourselves.

Is anyone really surprised by this? I’m amazed people in the audience are shocked by it. Either they’re incredibly ignorant or incredibly naive.

June 17, 2010: Marco Rubio faces foreclosure
Palm Beach Post: Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio is facing foreclosure on a Tallahassee house after missing five months of mortgage payments, according to a lawsuit filed in Leon County Circuit Court.
But Rubio’s campaign spokesman said Rubio and David Rivera, a U.S. House candidate from Miami who co-owns the home with Rubio, have paid $9,200 owed to Deutsche Bank and the foreclosure has been withdrawn. No documents in the court records on Thursday indicated that the foreclosure had been shelved. Phone calls to Rivera and a bank attorney were not returned.
“It’s been resolved,” Rubio spokesman Alex Burgos said.
Rubio’s personal spending has been an issue in his high-profile U.S. Senate campaign after records showed he charged $16,000 in personal expenses to a Republican Party of Florida credit card. Rubio said he paid those charges, but later repaid the party $3,000 after a Miami Herald/St. Petersburg Times report earlier this year showed he double-billed state taxpayers and the party for eight plane tickets he bought when he was a state legislator.

Speaking of kidding ourselves, George Bush put more people and resources on the border than any other previous president, including Ronald Reagan. Here is the painful question: why is it if this was so important to so many people for so long, that nothing had been done about it in the last century or so? I mean come on, it is not as if there was some big wall down there and Bush tore it down. And it is not as if this was even a major campaign issue in 2000 and 2004. Bush always supported guest worker programs and immigration reforms, he never pretended otherwise. Bush sent down the NG, he doubled the size of the border patrol, he signed off on the fence and he sent in the drones. When he left office there was more security on that border than there was when he got there. That is not something any previous president could say. In fact the border is secure at places like Yuma and the number of border crossings are down substantially. What we are seeing in Arizona is not illegal immigration so much as it is a crime wave crossing the border from Mexico’s drug war.
Some time ago, I heard Fred Barnes say that the people who wanted amnesty were going to hold off on border security and the people who wanted border security were never going to support comprehensive reform. So there you go..a Mexican stand off of sorts.

You have. And on all days, Father’s Day. On this day I don’t only thank God for my father (he’s passed), but more than ever I think of our Founding Fathers. We don’t use the word Father lightly in this Nation of Ours. We use it to refer to those we revere, respect and aspire to follow.
You need to understand, Mister Right Wing Yahoo, that you stand alone. Alone in a crowd of thirsty Fool Aid drinkers that fell for this sham of a campaign. The fancy speeches written by someone else, plagiarized by It in front of millions. Millions were fooled, but don’t forget this: Millions of us WERE NOT fooled. It is the Millions of Us that Were Not Fooled that you will have to deal with going forward..
As I watch this Gulf Oil Disaster unfold; as I watch my husband leave to do what he can to help, and as I watch IT play president on television it doesn’t make me angry. It steels my resolve.
So you, Right Wing Yahoo… take this to the bank. You and IT will not win. You’ll try, but you will fail. This is a solemn promise from the People of America. YOU made a mistake. WE will correct it. In short order, without violence, without racism, without hatred… with truth and knowledge you will be defeated and shamed. Now, you take these words to the bank of truth and cash them in for knowledge.

No. From another poster:
“The Bush administration, which is vowing to crack down on U.S. companies that hire illegal workers, virtually abandoned such employer sanctions before it began pushing to overhaul U.S. immigration laws last year, government statistics show.
Between 1999 and 2003, work-site enforcement operations were scaled back 95 percent by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, which subsequently was merged into the Homeland Security Department. The number of employers prosecuted for unlawfully employing immigrants dropped from 182 in 1999 (Clinton)to four in 2003 (Bush), and fines collected declined from $3.6 million (Clinton)to $212,000 (Bush), according to federal statistics.
In 1999, the United States initiated fines against 417 companies (Clinton). In 2004, it issued fine notices to three (Bush).”

You and It fly around in jets, smoke cigars, lecture others, and get people like Obama elected because of you and It’s unwavering support of all things GOP. If you and It had actually held Bush and the GOP accountable and stopped their socialist agenda then maybe your screed would have some meaning, but as it stands it means nothing. Unfortunately for you, it’s going to take men of principle and honor with an understanding that we do not the doctrine of cigar smoking, jet flying, arrogant, elitist It’s, but that we apply the principle of a sovereign and merciful God.

I’ve always said that every word that comes out of the criminal’s mouth is a lie, but now I realize that in addition to that, every action he takes or does not take is a crime of one form or another.
Fulfilling the requirements of the office is the last on his list of to-do’s.
He’s here to conquer the country, not lead it. And little stuff like laws and constitutional guidelines just get in the way of the mission.

I don’t understand why this is even an issue. What is wrong with people coming here legally? If there are too many hoops to jump through, if the cost is prohibitive, then reform the system but fercryinoutloud, seal the d@mn border! Seal it up, round up the criminals and send them home, and then start from scratch. Why do these people object to this? Their lefty Latino supporters can still come to this country; they just have to go through the proper channels.
I just want to bang my head against the wall that this is such a difficult concept for Washington to grasp.

What is wrong with people coming here legally?
We have 17% real unemployment. Other than that, hey, nothing.
We will do well just to stop amnesty and slow down illegal immigration. But unless the jobless rate is 4% and the GDP is growing at 8%, we don’t really need millions of LEGAL immigrants either.
But, first things first. Nov 2010 is first.
rightwingyahooo on June 20, 2010 at 9:27 PM
Please don’t lump all Latino’s into one bucket. Here in FL, we have a huge Cuban population. These are wonderful people, many who came here as refugees from a Communist Regime run by Castro. The Mariel boat lift in the early 80′s tested our State, but in the end we all get along and my gosh the Cuban culture is awesome. They contribute so much, they are strong families, hard workers and we all get along fine.
The problem (call me racists I don’t care) is with the illegals, most of whom are from Mexico. My Uncle is Mexican and so are all of my cousins, so whatevah. The illegals take construction jobs not just from Americans but from all of us. They have formed gangs that deal drugs and they are infiltrating neighborhoods with their garbage.
Cuban Americans are horrified and so are the rest of us. Seal the border. Come here legally. That’s all we ask.

I went to college in Florida; I’m well aware that Cuban Americans are cut from a whole different cloth. It’s simply easier to say “lefty Latinos” than to say “lefty Mexicans/Guatamalans/El Salvadorans/etc.” Besides, if there are “lefty Latinos” one presumes there are “righty Latinos” as well, yes? It’s not an either/or proposition.

The porous border, particularly in the south, represents a real challenge to our national security. ME terrorists are using this conduit to infiltrate our nation. The issue is larger than drug cartels, kidnappings, human trafficking, murders, etc. We need to know who is coming into our country. We also need to know who is bleeding our tax dollars and communities dry through social services.

The key to Obama is his Chicago political upbringing. Although the movie ‘Godfather’ was centered in New York, the gang involvement in Chicago was more pervasive and permanent. The key to Obama’s behavior is any hood in the ‘Godfather’ but, particularly,I believe, Virgil ‘The Turk’ Sollazzo. When viewed from the perspective “what would Sollazzo do when he doesn’t get what he wants?” makes it easier to understand Obama’s intimidating tactics.

The Governor may call individuals or units of the Arizona National Guard into state service during emergencies or to assist in special situations which lend themselves to use of the National Guard. The state mission assigned to the National Guard is “To provide trained and disciplined forces for domestic emergencies or as otherwise provided by state law.”
Obama can go pound sand…

If a president commits criminal offenses, but no one is there to hold him to account, does he really commit criminal offenses?

I was under the impression that oaths of office meant something. Guess not.
Defend the border moron.

My suspicion is this may kill the lawsuit Hillary was talking about. If this lawsuit is pursued, I’m sure Kyl would be called, followed by Obama Himself, on the question of federal border enforcement.

Just don’t forget what the big w0 0kie said about Jug Ears – he could get sh0t just pumping gas.
Now you know why she said it – she knew how pi$$ed off America was going to be at her widdle darling.
They are secretly hoping someone tries it so they can play the martyr card.

Naw, he must be wrong, Obama took an oath to uphold the constitution…he is a constitutional lawyer, he would never do anything to harm the U.S….
My God, that is a pathetic attempt at sarcasm…I can’t imagine any American saying what he said…he is more disgusting each week, as his administration sinks to a new low.
“Miss me yet?”….says Jimmy Carter…

Just walk into any emergency room after 8 pm, and it will tell you all you need to know…

AP just feels the need of every self-respecting squish to take the obligatory slap at Bush to earn street cred with the PC police and extra hot tub time with CJ and the Boys.

Kyl is taking a terrible chance here, though. The odds are strong that without witnesses or a confirming memo, Obama would just flatly deny this – not that he has shown any respect for the rule of law yet.

This reminds me of when Obama needed the Central Calif’s Representatives vote on healthcare reform. He negotiated a deal with the Rep for a yes vote in exchange for a 50% increase in water allotment to the Farmers whose farms are suffering due to Obamas protection of the Delta Smelt Minnow. Isn’t this extortion? Certainly it must be illegal?
