Video: MSNBC hosts dump on Obama’s speech

posted at 8:58 pm on June 15, 2010 by Allahpundit

Things I learned tonight from watching Keith Olbermann’s and Chris Matthews’s post-speech wrap-up: (1) Obama’s rhetoric is gassy and notably short on specifics; (2) renewable energy is much harder to develop than certain prominent Democrats would have us believe; (3) government bureaucracy may be contributing to the slow federal response in the gulf.

The clip-worthy pile of crappola from MSNBC tonight is Chris Matthew’s hyperventilating over his expose of the American traitors who I swear he thinks show be arrested tomorrow. Mama Bear protecting his cub from the evil, evil Tea Party.

I’m excited about Obama’s call for a national plan for renewable energy. Let’s have a 5 year plan. We could call it the “Great Leap Forward”. We could even consider this as a new day. We could start at the year Zero.

Chu is known for his research in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, which won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997.

Maybe Obama should also call in Austin Powers.

This plus the PPP poll, plus the Salon bit, equals a very nervous Weight of Glory. Do you remember when Rumsfeld made his famous statement about known knowns, known unknowns, etc.? Well, with all of the above, I feel like there’s an unknown unknown out there, lurking, stalking, and hunting, which once known would make sense of everything, but would instantly kill you as well. Sleep well tonight, but if NYT dumps on Obama tomorrow, then I’m quitting my job, leaving my family, and joining a monastery. The only question will be: Augustinian or Franciscan?

That was funny. Watching these guys figuring out that their guy, Barry, doesn’t have what it takes. He was simply a nifty idea, and he’s making fools out of them.

They are slowly realizing that there’s no difference between Zip and Alvin Greene except that Alvin doesn’t claim to have a Harvard degree.

I know what you mean. If the right gets mad, we just get stressed and complain on blogs, buy extra food and toilet paper (and ammo for some), just in case it gets ugly out there. The left getting angry desperate could be dangerous for O. I’m starting to understand Beck when he talks about worrying for POTUS safety. I can’t stand the douche but I want him safe. I wonder tomorrow if we’ll see op-eds about the dangerous talking heads on the left. Fat chance.

Let me be clear- there are those who say that the end of BP’s oil spill is what we want, but I say that what this nation needs is the end of BP’s oil spill to be the beginning, and, make no mistake, it won’t take one day to see the end from the beginning, but one day soon we will see the end to the beginning and we’ll know…

If Olbermann, Chris, and Fineman are all in agreement that The One is blowing it, The One has a serious problem because he’s lost the base.

Doughboy on June 15, 2010 at 9:26 PM

Nothing specific?

One place we have already begun to take action is at the agency in charge of regulating drilling and issuing
permits, known as the Minerals Management Service. Over the last decade, this agency has become emblematic of a
failed philosophy that views all regulation with hostility – a philosophy that says corporations should be allowed to play by their own rules and police themselves.

the_nile on June 15, 2010 at 9:27 PM

This is OT but on a brighter note. After yet another episode of stunning, terrifying incompetence and indifference it’s important to focus on something positive.

A friend of mine owns a barber shop in our town. I often stop by to chat and have coffee. The clientele is all male, mostly older, blue-collar hard working guys. The subject of Nikki Haley came up, and every single one of them voted for her, will vote for her in the run off and again in the general. They despise what was done to her. They’re determined to throw the trash out. Bauer, Knotts and the rest are history as far as they’re concerned.

They also said that their expectations are tempered because she will have a tough job, but as long as she can make some progress they will be satisfied.

I asked them if they thought Palin’s endorsement made a difference. They said they would have voted for Haley without Cuda’s support, but the mention of her name made them all smile.

Cheers, y’all! Better times ahead… step by step.

From Karl Denninger at the Market Ticker:

MMS is 100% responsible for approving the well casing changes made on the rig – changes that, were they not approved, would have likely prevented the blowout in the first place.

But MMS is the Obama Administration and those changes were approved just days before the blast. And while BP selected the design and implementation they used, they didn’t do it in a vacuum – they did so with the full permission of the government’s so-called “regulators.”

I’m late to the party, so my apologies in advance if someone else has posted this.

Every time something like this happens, a slow and feckless regulatory bureaucracy is to blame from the left. Of course, with the way they want to govern, slow bureaucracy is a natural byproduct. We’re not supposed to put 2 and 2 together when they bitch about corrupt regulators, but why would they be anything else?

government bureaucracy may be contributing to the slow federal response in the gulf.

Yes, too much ‘bureaucracy’ and according to Matthews too much “meritocracy” — but what they were really calling for was an “FDR-like” response. Sooooo, what they were really saying is get the underlings out of the way and be a dictator.

I did like the “If he mentions Chu’s nobel prize again, I think I’ll barf” line tho.

Notice he did not become enthusiastic UNTIL he began talking about his cool Cap and Trade legislation?

This is the guy at the office who stands by the water cooler and bounces ideas off of you about how to deal with the heat in the building while someone like McCain crawls up into the ceiling and figures out why the damn air conditioner is not working and fixes it.
