Stewart launches “AssQuest 2010″

posted at 10:55 am on June 9, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Think of the nuance this phrase would have had in the Clinton administration!  Ah, well, we’ll just have to settle for the more mundane sense of “AssQuest 2010,” courtesy of Jon Stewart at Comedy Central.  The relevant bit comes in at the three-minute mark of this clip if you want to skip ahead, but you’ll miss a little playful skewering of the media if you do.  Stewart blasts the entire Obama/Captain Kickass attempt to show emotion by pointing out that Obama had plenty of time and plenty of notice to clean up MMS and prevent this kind of disaster over the first sixteen months of his presidency.  Don’t bail out early, either, because you’ll wind up missing the Allahpundit heartache moment from the iPhone 4 rollout, which Stewart puts to good use (via The Right Scoop):

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c
Ass Quest 2010
www.thedailyshow.com
Daily Show Full Episodes Political Humor Tea Party

As I wrote earlier, the problem isn’t that President Spock hasn’t shown emotion. No one wants to see a President on a crying jag, and for Obama it comes off as phony and staged anyway. The problem is that Obama hasn’t shown any substantive engagement, just as he didn’t on ObamaCare. Oh, he showed up occasionally and got crabby with Congress, and gave plenty of speeches everywhere else but inside the Beltway offering platitudes on ObamaCare like, “If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance” (and how well did that work out?), but he didn’t bother rolling up his own sleeves for over six months, and then just to harangue Republicans about bipartisanship. And now Obama shows up occasionally at the Gulf and talks big about kicking ass, but hasn’t gotten at all engaged in the solution.

If the Left is laughing at Captain Kickass, it’s probably time to retire the costume.

I so love it when the Libtards attempt to be “fair and balanced”. Quite amusing in a pathetic sort of way; that is, they suck up to one of their own and when it gets just too hard to defend everything they do, they jump on them-albeit half-heartedly and good-naturedly.

But when Captain Kicka** loses The Daily Show, he’s lost everyone….

Lets send buckets filled with sand to the White House, one for each Cabinet member and advisor.

Painted on the side of each bucket will be:

“In case of emergency, put head in here”

The funny thing is, though, that “Captain Kickass” wears mom jeans and throws a baseball like a 12 yr old girl scout.

ButterflyDragon on June 9, 2010 at 11:14 AM

I’m still reeling from that last clip Stewart showed. :)

Liberals are dissatisfied, understandably. Obama promised his devoted followers much and is predictably unable to deliver. We don’t agree with lefties about the essential problems, but, we can meet with them in their dissatisfaction and offer a conservative answer instead. I hope republicans capitalize on liberal bitterness.

Psst…

I had the same thought that the Govt is acting like the Mayor in Amity in Jaws. Face it, Obama does NOT want the public to find out how much frakkin oil is spilling on his watch. I heard a guy on FastMoney last night saying the leak is actually from down the line not from the riser etc and that BP will be history within a year due. If that happens all Obamas focus on who to shake down will be for naught and his EPIC FAIL to do any mitigation of damages will leave the Gulf Coast devastated for a loooong time. God Bless the Gulf Coast.

one of their stupid mantra…besides we sank more money in that rat hole (if he meant Iraq, which I guess he did) than even if they opened a direct pipe with the US and let the oil flow freely over here, it would still take a long time to compensate us financially…I never understood these idiotic leftist comments 'we're there for the oil'…jee, it's not like we get it at half price or something (I wish :), …duh…

President Obama stated he was the one responsible for the oil spill weeks ago now, yet for some reason the media keeps blowing off the fact that everything BP is doing now is at the complete control of the government.

How much longer will this last?

JeffinSac on June 9, 2010 at 12:32 PM

then we can hang a “Mission Accomplished” banner….

Better yet… “OMISSION ACCOMPLICE”

drunyan8315 on June 9, 2010 at 12:33 PM

If you’ve read anything regarding Desert One or Operation Eagle Claw, then you would readily see that Carter was directly engaged in the selection of the team (led by Charlie Beckwith) and the overseeing of the planning/execution of the mission. I have to hand that to Carter, he had the trust of Beckwith, and likewise.

The DoD had to really, really ramp up capabilities with regards to night vision technology, communications, refueling etc. Many of the improvements we have today are a direct result of the failure of Desert One—NVG, 160th Spec Ops Aviation Regiment, JSOC.

Hence, Carter was involved. He also accepted full responsibility for the mission failure (a noble and proper thing).

Unlike carter, Obama points fingers, seeks asses to kick, golfs, and, in no way, substantively engages the doers (Hayward) toward working the solution. Carter did do that, he earned their trust, he didn’t kick their ass—so, in this context, Carter is looking like a statesman compared to Obama, IMO.

ted c on June 9, 2010 at 12:36 PM

The President ran on his ‘character’.

It seems folks forgot there is a difference between having character and being a character. The first lives a life, the second runs away from it…

He ran a campaign. Running from his own lacks is a bit more difficult, although many do try to cover for them trying to shut up folks pointing out the Emperor has no clothes. The Albatross around his neck, however, is much harder to be quiet about.

Imagine you have a flat tire… Sure you might get angry – maybe you swear – maybe you kick the tire – maybe you even cry. But these displays of emotion will not get you back on the road. Eventually you have to take action- either change the tire, or call for help if you are unable to change it yourself. Swearing and crying do not solve the problem.

kooly on June 9, 2010 at 1:32 PM

So The Ass Kicker In Chief has to be steered in a certain direction and instructed to show some emotion by a “panel of experts” before he works his magic?

No wonder his transcripts were broomed.

What I can’t explain is how all of us missed the “it’s too difficult” thingy. Perhaps we couldn’t connect the dots with such separate issues.

Anyways, makes me glad Jon did and has evidence to prove it. But I have to tell you, whenever there’s oil spill talk somehow in the vast universe, someone makes a connection to Sarah so I was cringing a bit while he was doing the skit.

Which, thankfully, confirms and states nationwide that Obama OWNS it. Unless, he wants to pass this difficult situation to Sarah in order for her to fix it. :D
