NRSC hits Boxer in “Decades of Epic Fail” spot

posted at 2:11 pm on June 9, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

The NRSC didn’t take long to start attacking Barbara Boxer after last night’s California primary nominated Carly Fiorina as the Republican challenger to “Senator Ma’am.” In fact, this 30-second spot kicks off what promises to be an entire series of “Decades of Epic Fail” at a new NRSC microsite, with the domain name The website features a “greatest hits” compilation of Boxer moments over the years, including the one in which she tells a general to call her Senator instead of “ma’am.” The NRSC wants to give her back that latter honorific:

It’s a great spot, especially for a web ad, although it’s brief enough to run on television. The site is even better. It includes a timeline of Boxer’s political career, a flipbook of the same, and many other tools to dissect her record. Under normal circumstances, a long resume might be seen as a bonus on the campaign trail, but not in a year where voters are looking for alternatives to hidebound incumbents. Boxer has been in Washington since 1983. Maybe it’s time to send her home.

OK, I’ll admit to scrutinizing the old photos to see if she was actually attractive once. Results inconclusive.

fiatboomer on June 9, 2010 at 2:15 PM

They’re a little late jumping on the “epic fail” meme, but it’s still a good ad.

Farmer_Joe on June 9, 2010 at 2:15 PM

It’s going to be tough to beat Fiorina’s Boxer Blimp spot, but this is a good start LOLz

Good Lt on June 9, 2010 at 2:16 PM

I could almost handle Reid winning if it means that Boxer loses. I want them both gone, but there’s just something extra loathsome about her.

Last thing Babs wants is people looking at her record.

GarandFan on June 9, 2010 at 2:17 PM

Maybe it’s time to send her home.

She’s way past her freshness date. Her shelf life was only about 2 years, if that.

Dee2008 on June 9, 2010 at 2:23 PM

Hmmmm I hope she has to get used to the “Ma’am” title real soon…

WhoU4 on June 9, 2010 at 2:25 PM

Yeah but she could do some super Kamea-kamea fail in the next six years.

jukin on June 9, 2010 at 2:25 PM

“Boom boom boom.” I hear the drums signaling Boxer’s defeat.

Narutoboy on June 9, 2010 at 2:25 PM

Good ad, but the stuff they used “against” her in the timelines are tone-deaf at best. It was her basically going against 8 years of Bush. We’re in California NRSC! That stuff sells here!

Apologetic California on June 9, 2010 at 2:26 PM

“Maybe it’s time to send her home”.

Opposite Day on June 9, 2010 at 2:26 PM

Now I realize that she’s an entrenched pol…but since the sixties? Really?

Acually not, c’mon RNC please get thy sh!t together, how easy will it be to discredit your entire campaign if the rollout announcement of your ad campaign can’t get the facts straight.

From Wiki:

She first ran for political office in 1972, when she challenged incumbent Peter Arrigoni, a member of the Marin County Board of Supervisors, but lost a close election. Later during the 1970s, Boxer worked as a journalist for the Pacific Sun and as an aide to John Burton, then a member of Congress.[3] In 1976, Boxer was elected to the Marin County Board of Supervisors, serving for six years.[4] During this time she served as the first woman president of the board.[5]

In 1994, her daughter Nicole married Tony Rodham, brother of then-First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a ceremony at the White House. The couple had one son, Zachary, and divorced in 2000.[6]

Boxer’s husband, Stewart, is a prominent attorney in Oakland, who specializes in worker’s compensation cases (on the side of injured workers) and is known for keeping a very low profile when it comes to politics. Many cases are referred to him by labor unions, including the Teamsters.

I highlighted as couple of extra interesting tid-bits just for fun, the incestuous nature of the far left with each other and their union allies. One big happy family.

Looks like they’ve got one for Reid, too.

I just watched that episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm that she’s in. She manages to be thoroughly nauseating and obnoxious for the minute or so she’s on the screen. What a really unlikable woman.

That’s one ugly old bag.

I sure hope they do one splicing together her unbelievably disrespectful Senate hearing interrogations of Condi Rice (she once essentially ridiculed the US Secretary of State to her face as a freak for not ever marrying or having children) & more recently her breathtakingly blatant condescension toward the CEO of the Black Chamber of Commerce.

The ‘progressive’ Mrs. Boxer seems to believe that every black person who comes before her on committee is her personal plantation servant & woe unto a person with dark skin who thinks of themselves as Senator Ma’am’s ‘uppity’ equal.

High time somebody nailed this woman about that.

NRSC microsite?

What kind of traffic does that get?

I’m picturing a one stoplight town with a tumbleweed blowing down mainstreet.

Boxer: one of the worst.

I love it!The complete and un-abridged Barbara Boxer in 27 seconds.

tim c on June 9, 2010 at 2:51 PM

Fiorina’s campaign has got it so wrong. They are attacking Boxer with stuff which is actual ammunition for Boxer to attack Fiorina ( eg “she is worried about the weather”).
Keep Boxer on the defensive, make her throw punches in the air and end up making a fool of herself in her own words. How about bringing up Boxer’s act of turning off the water supply to the Central Valley farmers ? This old bat has bought misery to so many families, most of them hispanic and she isn’t even sorry . Boxer used the water issue to buy votes for medical-rationing law. Boxer is a cold environazi, in the truest sense of the word.
Go Alinsky on her Carly . Shame her, ridicule her, expose her for the hack she has always been.

macncheez on June 9, 2010 at 2:54 PM

Boxer has been in Washington since 1983. Maybe it’s time to send her home.

It’s way past time to send her packing, man that would be a dream come true! It would make my year and I would literally throw a “the biatch is gone” party replete with a dart board bearing her face!

I first thought it was an ad for Judge Judy.

Oil Can on June 9, 2010 at 3:05 PM

The best part of call me Senator instead of “ma’am” event is that saying ma’am was the highest form of expression that the General could do and she took him to task and basically said demean me with my title because a stupid, arrogant, military loathing ignoramus who doesn’t know anything about duty, honor, and especially respect.

skanter on June 9, 2010 at 3:08 PM

It is time for Boxer to end her charade as a human lifeform.

Another stunning defeat for Progressives last night, was Blue Dog Democrat, Rep. Jane Harman’s (CA-36th District) trouncing of “Peace Activist”, Marcy Winograd.

It was hilarious to watch local progressives organize behind their little wingnut candidate only to have their dreams crushed.

The Ugly American on June 9, 2010 at 3:54 PM

20% of Voting CA Democrats said — HELL NO TO BOXER!

The insult to General Walsh and her deeming Cap&Trade a “national security issue” will not be forgotten by many California Democrats.

Mutnodjmet on June 9, 2010 at 4:59 PM

Ma’am was one of the worst offenders in the House banking scandal. It was at that point that California decided she was ready for the Show.

SukieTawdry on June 9, 2010 at 5:59 PM

we need one for Reid and fast

jcrue on June 9, 2010 at 7:18 PM

Barbara Boxer is the stupidest woman in the legislative branch of government. She may want to be called “Senator” but, come November, I am hoping to call her “unemployed”

tballard on June 10, 2010 at 12:30 AM

Sen. Boxer needs to understand the derivation and backgound and meaning of the name of Boxer, and understant her box is empty.

Let’s start with the simpler varriation of her name Box. Many know the day after Christmas is called Boxing Day and why it is celebrated?

Three theories exist. First is that centuries ago, on the day after Christmas, members of the merchant class would give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing, and/or money to servants. Second thought is that Boxing Day comes from the tradition of opening the alms boxes in churches over the Christmas season. Third, that is the day in which unwanted gifts are returned.
