Newest smear of Palin: Hey, maybe she had breast enlargements

posted at 5:41 pm on June 9, 2010 by Allahpundit

As a commenter noted in Headlines, this sort of scrutiny is nothing new to female politicians. Palin undoubtedly gets it worse than most, though, partly because she’s a beauty queen and partly because it fits the image of an airhead that her detractors want to push. So, on the morning after the biggest night for Republican women in years, made possible in no small part by Palin herself, here we go:

Palin and her husband, Todd, were in New York on Sunday to bet on their pick, “First Dude,” named after Palin’s husband.

But it was Palin’s newfound perkiness, not her politics, that bumped “Heidi Montag” and “implants” off the Most Googled list.

“Sarah Palin sure looks like she was trotting out some new work at the horse races,” reported the political blog Wonkette yesterday after getting a tip on the Web site’s Facebook feed.

And so began yesterday’s Zapruder-filmlike investigation, as thousands carefully pored over Palin’s before-and-after measurements like seasoned bra-fitters at Lady Grace.

While lefty obsessives play with the zoom function on Photoshop, a serious question for you: Just how much credit does Sarahcuda deserve for her endorsees’ wins last night? She told Time Magazine today that, “Oftentimes I’m looking at the candidate who shares the circumstances in which I’ve been: underfunded, up against the machine, no big endorsements, running a grassroots campaign with the help of volunteer friends and family,” which explains her support for Haley but not so much her support for Carly Fiorina. I agree with Dave Weigel that Terry Branstad was a lock to win anyway and that Carly would have romped to victory even without Palin — she buried Tom Campbell with TV advertising in the last few weeks of the campaign — but I think Sarahcuda deserves more credit for Haley than he’s giving her. It may not have been the deciding factor, but as I understand it Haley’s main problem until the last few months was name recognition. Changing that in an instant was the one thing Palin could do for her — and what’s more, she stood by Haley after the sleaze started to flow, which was a strong signal from a prominent social con to SC voters not to panic. She deserves some credit. But then, so does Romney, who’s planning a trip to Carolina to campaign for Haley as we speak.

Here’s Palin chatting with FNC about the oil spill and last night’s results; skip ahead to 4:30 for the election stuff, about which she’s very modest. One lingering question, though: How come Palin didn’t endorse anyone in Nevada? She spoke favorably of Sue Lowden last month, but I guess when push came to shove she didn’t dare disappoint tea partiers again by opposing Sharron Angle. That’s too bad, because I’m going to level with you: I’ve got bad vibes.

I think this Palin vs Romney one-upness, snarkiness and outright nastiness is ridiculous.

Palin does a great job with her endorsements; so does Romney. Everyone notice that when they both endorse candidates in a primary that it’s the same candidate? For example, they both endorsed Nikki Haley. Who cares when they each did it? They both went against McCain’s candidate in the race. And most importantly, they were right.

I think there is a lot more coordinating behind the scenes between these two than one might believe . . . or want to believe.

The important thing is that if you are a conservative, get behind the most conservative candidate in the primaries. Once the primary is over, though, get behind the GOP candidate. It’s a simple lesson the Dems learned years ago. Numbers are power. If you have the numbers, you have the power. And enough numbers mean Obama’s power gets greatly curbed, which means our beloved nation may still have a fighting chance come January.

Clearly, Pboth alin and Romney understand that. And they are both doing their best to achieve that. Palin uses her star power with the base and Romney uses his enormous fundraising prowess. I think they are both decent people who love their country and want to do what they can to help preserve it.

“There is no limit to what you can achieve if you don’t mind who gets the credit.”

She has been elected to exactly one (1) office, and quit when she couldn’t even handle being the governor of Alaska. Now some want to make her the leader of the country? Not buying it.

combatwombat on June 9, 2010 at 8:11 PM

She handled her 2 years better than Romney did his 4. RomneyCare is an even bigger electoral liability.

ddrintn on June 9, 2010 at 10:10 PM

Whoops! “Clearly, Pboth alin and Romney” should be “Both Palin and Romney.” Sorry!

Marybeth on June 9, 2010 at 10:11 PM

I think he was talking about dnscolmin or something like that who only comes on th Palin threads to tell us to go to Romney’s site…I fell for it once…

I apologize. You’re correct. I myself have told him how inappropriate it is for him to post those links here, and how he is not helping Mitt.

Speaking of Romney, that numbnuts was just on Hannity. That loser thought Obama went on his ass kicking conquest today!

He was so out of it. Looked totally unprepared, stiff as a board. He had absolutely NOTHING to say. Just a bunch of talking points the even a tool like Obama could have managed, but Oh Gee, he wrote some nonsense in USA Today. It was embarrassing.

A few minutes later Sarah Palin was on. By contrast she was on fire. No talking points, just solid commentary, and SOLUTIONS.

All one has to do is play the two interviews back to back. That’s the 2012 Sarah Palin commercial!!

Romney stiff as a board with a deer in the headlights look, and Sarah Palin, the most powerful, and confident leader in the world, kickin’ ass and takin’ names.

Romney is SO out of his league. He’s so 2008. He doesn’t stand a chance against Sarah Palin.

gary4205 on June 9, 2010 at 10:15 PM

MMMMM, well the left must focus on the size of her breastes, what number on Alinskys’ rules is this?

The one about ridicule?

I’m not worried if she has fake boo** cause I know she’s got real steel cajones……and she knows whose “as*” needs to be kicked in November 2012!!!!!

I thought they both did fine.

Marybeth on June 9, 2010 at 10:22 PM

What else do you call a person who hijacks every single thread about another potential GOP candidate to post a link to his Romney blog with all the latest Mitt buzz?

NoLeftTurn on June 9, 2010 at 10:02 PM

It’s the only way Mittbots can reach a wider audience with their spam.

Once in a blue moon; when Romney does or say something newsworthy that results in a HotAir thread; the comments rarely exceed a few dozen. The man is simply uninteresting.

Most people have realized that for years now, except the dedicated Mittbots. When you spend millions on your campaign in the weakest GOP Primary field evah and you still get beaten by McVain and Squirrel-boy in the delegate count, noone takes you seriously.

Why are Palin’s breasts a big deal to liberals? Shouldn’t they be more concerned with Obama’s lack of testicles.

Marybeth on June 9, 2010 at 10:22 PM

Wow, you must be easy to impress then.

Romney is a joke. Always has been. How ANYONE can think this guy is worth the time of day is beyond me.

He was a horrible Governor. Didn’t do a damned thing right. Then you have WillardCare, the blueprint for ObamaCare. Mittens pretty much destroyed his state over that one.

Now this clown, his zombie followers, and Allah want to make him relevant in last nights elections? Ain’t gonna happen.

This is why so many people don’t care for Romney. He’s never really accomplished a damned thing good. He hides in the bushes, let’s other people do the hard work, and his dirty work, take all the slings and arrows, and then wants to waltz in and be big man on campus.

The guy was AWOL on ObamaCare, cap and tax, and well, EVERYTHING, and now he goes on TV, after Sarah has been whippin’ Obama like a rented mule, and throw out some tired old talking points? Not gonna let that slide.

Romney is a phony, a poseur. An opportunist. He damned sure isn’t a leader.

If this GOP show pony thinks he’s going to ever be president, he has another thing coming.

Okay, so you think he’s boring. Any specific statement he made that you disagree with, or are you just voting for Mr. or Ms. Excitement?

I thought Mitt was fine. I thought Sarah was fine too until she praised Ron Paul and went into a counterproductive Beckian spiel about Republicans and Democrats.

Elected to exactly one office?

Palin was elected to the Wasilla City Council
She ran for reelection in 1995, winning
Palin ran for mayor of Wasilla in 1996, defeating incumbent mayor John Stein
Palin ran for reelection of mayor of Wasilla

james23 on June 9, 2010 at 10:58 PM

Frankly, gary4025, your constant fawning of Palin as this perfect politician, incapable of ever making a mistake, is just a bit disturbing. If I were Todd and read your sickeningly syncophantic comments about my spouse, I’d be more than a little concerned about you.

Dear God, man, the woman is just a human being. And a politician at that. Sure to disappoint at some time and place. It’s the nature of the profession. She’s already shown political opportunism with her endorsement of McCain, a cancer on the GOP and the country if there ever was one. I don’t care what excuses you make for it. If someone is bad for the country, he is bad for the country – period.

Although you are surely too busy wiping the drool off your chin to understand that.

And for the record, Romney was also being politically expedient in his McCain endorsement.

But overall, they are both doing good work in these midterms.

Marybeth on June 9, 2010 at 11:07 PM

I saw the boobs thread and thought y’all were talking about Gibbs. Carry on…

TN Mom on June 9, 2010 at 11:20 PM

And your personal attacks against Palin supporters in defense of Mitt are extremely transparent, Marybeth.

You do not defend Mitt.

You attack the people who say he’s a nothingburger with a lot of money and good hair. He looks presidential. But his money didn’t buy it for him in 2008. And his record sure ain’t gonna’ get it for him in 2012.

Why did Mitt only become prolife just before running for president?

Why does Mitt still defend Romneycare?

Why did Mitt endorse Susana Martinez for NM gov only AFTER she won her primary?

Where was Mitt when Haley was being put through the ringer these last few weeks?

Can you answer these specific questions?

Or are you going to attack me and wonder if Todd would be nervous about me?

hrh40 on June 10, 2010 at 12:03 AM

Actually, Palin didn’t get a boob job.

Or are you going to attack me and wonder if Todd would be nervous about me?

hrh40 on June 10, 2010 at 12:03 AM

I have no need to attack you; I’ve never seen your comments before.

I like Sarah Palin. I like Mitt Romney. So what?

What I don’t like is seeing people raise politicians to Godlike status, incapable of doing wrong. And gary4025 goes wayyyyyyy out there, in my humble opinion. I don’t like to see it with any politician.

I’ve had someone stalk me in the past, and believe me, it’s very unsettling. Fawning letters, following me in my car, and actually knocking on my slider door one night. I had to finally get the police involved, my phone tapped, and a restraining order. Maybe that’s why gary4025 creeps me out so much.

Am I not allowed to observe that and comment on waht I consider someone’s over-the-top obsession? Or to make any kind statement about both Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney in the same comment? Or is that considered blasphemy?
