New McCain ad: You cannot be serious

posted at 7:37 pm on June 8, 2010 by Allahpundit

Not the lamest ad he’s ever run — the “build the damn fence” spot will never be topped — but darned close. I was with him all the way until the end. Hayworth’s claiming he’s an “outsider,” McCain wants to remind people that that’s far from the truth — fair enough. But then comes this gut-punch, in full-on sneering voiceover: “Outsider? A lobbyist is as inside Washington as it gets.” Yeah, see, I would think that being a four-term incumbent senator and former presidential nominee is “as inside Washington as it gets.” Am I wrong about that? Have we actually reached the point where lobbyists, rather than the people they’re lobbying, are the epitome of Beltway sclerosis? That’s some trick.

By the way, does this mean that McCain is once again, officially, a Maverick? What better way to describe a true-blue “outsider” like him?

I’m aware that the South was defeated and then pathetically resorted to founding one of America’s worst terrorist groups.

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:00 PM

Well, do you know the story behind the founding of the “terrorist group”?

hawkdriver on June 8, 2010 at 11:02 PM

Members of a terrorist nation (CSA) found a terrorist group (KKK). Southern pride baby!

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:01 PM

Did you have relatives in the KKK?

MeatHeadinCA on June 8, 2010 at 11:02 PM

N-boy, how many yanks are in the ground in the South? How did the Yanks smash the south? The only time they defeated the CSA is when they totally outnumbered the North. Why are you such a hateful person? Take the board out of your own eye before asking others to take a splinter out of theirs. Why are you so preoccupied about race, is it because you are a racist and have no foundation of faith in God?

garydt on June 8, 2010 at 11:03 PM

katy on June 8, 2010 at 10:49 PM

I didn’t get bit by either of them. They both scream loyalty, as do you, but their loyalty only extends to those who drink their kool-aid. Enjoy, katy, Just don’t turn your back…

ladyingray on June 8, 2010 at 11:03 PM

Hmmm… So are you Southern? Do you speak with a drawl? Oh, and are you college educated?

MeatHeadinCA on June 8, 2010 at 10:58 PM

Born in Virginia, raised in Colorado. I’m a Westerner.

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:03 PM

I made a misprint is how did the Yanks smash the South and thats when they outnumbered the South.

garydt on June 8, 2010 at 11:04 PM

garydt on June 8, 2010 at 11:03 PM

The CSA was destroyed and disgraced. Get over it. The only thing you have now is probably some bumper sticker that says, “The South shall rise again….yeehaw!” Where was that confed redneck spirit when you failed to win that war?

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:06 PM

Yep. I have.

HornetSting on June 8, 2010 at 11:04 PM

hawkdriver on June 8, 2010 at 11:08 PM

(Ladies, please stop! I’m asking you all as friends.)

hawkdriver on June 8, 2010 at 10:58 PM

I’m stopping. But we stopped being friends the minute the HARPIES turned on BB and then turned on us for defending him. Then they banned us. They talk about hurt like it is owned solely by them. It isn’t.
We are called deviants and perverts, but she is “hurt” when someone talks back–the perfect example of victimhood.

I’m taking my own advice–and dropping the matter.

We are not friends, but we are fellow patriots. We do not need to be enemies…

Well, if you know about the founding than you would know if there was anything ironic that happened… but maybe you don’t know that much. Do you have to pop in a video from the History Channel (or maybe Glenn Beck will have a special for you to study up on).

Genius, “what was ironic about the KKK’s founding” isn’t exactly the kind of thing you look up an answer for. It’s a broad statement that could have multiple answers. Unless you’re claiming to know every last detail about its founding?

Yeah, spelling is important. I’m awful at it. If more people were, we could have kept Bill Gates a little more down to earth.

But back on the subject of the KKK. Lee had no discernable connection to the KKK. First thing you’re correct about. I’m not sure about the college fraterity thing. It was mainly Democratic Politicians in Tennesee. But you keep wanting to tie the Confederate Army into it’s founding. I assert that, that opinion is very ironic considering the ironic beginnings of the KKK. And you seem to think I’m asking some obscure multiple choice question because you don’t know what I’m driving at.

Trees gotta get watered, just like grass!

LOL

ladyingray on June 8, 2010 at 11:42 PM

Southern Democrats founded the KKK, and VA was part of the South.

Don’t think I enjoy admitting that as I am Tennessee born and bred, but facts are facts.

ladyingray on June 8, 2010 at 11:38 PM

The South is home to almost all white terrorist hate groups, except one’s dealing with eco-terrorism and radical socialism/communism.

Heh, when we moved to town last fall, I had to tell him that you can’t go peeing on trees in the city.

TXMomof3 on June 8, 2010 at 11:46 PM

N-boy have any of these Southern terrorists flown any planes into buildings lately? Have they blown up planes, or pizza parlors lately? Have they chopped off anyones’ head lately?

garydt on June 8, 2010 at 11:46 PM

If you’re not a moonshining, confederate loving, redneck, than I have no problem with you. I don’t hate Southerners in general. I hate confederates and their sympathizers.

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:38 PM

I could very well be the last person on Hot Air willing to still debate with you as if you were a mature adult. Can we please drop the name-calling stereotypes? I find the word “redneck” as offensive as I think you do the Confederate Flag. If you continue, I’ll just move on to my friends who have better social skills.

Focus. With all your knowledge of the early beginnings and membership (that you assert you are so familiar with) of the KKK, what is ironic about the general conception that the Confederate Army took off their Butternut and Gray and covered themselves with sheets?

hawkdriver on June 8, 2010 at 11:46 PM

Isn’t ‘redneck’ a bannable word? I remember another southern hater was bounced because of it…..

HornetSting on June 8, 2010 at 11:39 PM

What about Aryan? Or Hot Aryan?

MeatHeadinCA on June 8, 2010 at 11:47 PM

N-boy then why do you hate farmers who get burnt on the neck when they do their farm work? How many do you know who moonshine? How many people do you know are reorganizing the CSA? You are just a hater and the rest of you is an empty suit.

garydt on June 8, 2010 at 11:49 PM

hawkdriver on June 8, 2010 at 11:46 PM

LOL. I’m not answering your questions anymore. That game is old and tired. If you have a point to make about them, make it. I don’t think you’re as familiar with them as you think. Being apart of the group doesn’t make you an expert, just fyi.

You find the word redneck as offensive as I do the confederate flag? Wow. Unreal.

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:50 PM

Mrs. Gump named her son after him.

And what about Indiana? And what about these rather scary “Indigenous Hate Groups” out in the west… hmmm…

Just think how many slaves those poor farmers owned!

Someone had to do it ;-)

MeatHeadinCA on June 8, 2010 at 11:51 PM

Meathead I am learning that this N-boy just sterotypes and figures we are all walking around in our Confederate uniforms and listening to Dixie and planning our next terrorist plot.

It’s almost like he watches MTV to learn about his homeland… ;-)

MeatHeadinCA on June 8, 2010 at 11:53 PM

It’d make sense. Ku and Klux are supposed to be Greek. The KKK was connected to the confederate army, in that many of its members had served in it.

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:41 PM

And that’s the sum total of your understanding of a subject that you seem to have formed a core hate for an entire region of the country over. That just won’t do.

Did you read Americannodash clue. It would be very good even if you weren’t well versed. It might even be enough to Google. But he’s right and I’d bet my paycheck he could answer the question easily.

My point has always been that that era of “our” history is rich with valor and pride that you can look to on both sides. It is all our history. If you relegate it to banter fodder for a thread like this you cheapen the heroic of both sides. The men who fought against the Confederates, who lost friends to the COnfederates and vise versa are better schooled on this than you.

To have the strong feelings you seem espouse, one would think that you were better schooled on the subject.

You still haven’t answered your own question. I was waiting for the answer, not this wall of nothing. If I wanted to see you say that I don’t know what I’m talking about, I could just read….well, every post you’ve made.

Broken record.

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:56 PM

Narutoboy on June 8, 2010 at 11:56 PM

Do you think your family even owned a Record Player growing up in those swamps and all?

MeatHeadinCA on June 8, 2010 at 11:57 PM

And for someone that apparently knows all about them, I would think you’d know about the fraternity/college connection.
