Video: The obligatory “Christie tells teacher to find a new job if she doesn’t like her pay” clip

posted at 5:50 pm on May 26, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Cubachi. Yeah, we covered this last night, but (a) a daily allotment of “common sense porn” does a body good and (b) this is so awesome that it might — might — replace Humpbot as the official Hot Air victory video. I’m not promising anything. I’m just sayin’.

You know what the best part of this is, aside from the teacher congratulating herself for doing it for the love after she just spent two minutes haranguing Christie about money? Apparently — if it’s the same Rita Wilson — she already makes in excess of $86,000. Perfect.

Blowback

There are certain professions a person can have like a cop or a soldier where I automatically, until proven wrong, believe they are a good, honorable person who I owe respect. Teachers are the exact opposite. If I find out a person if a teacher I will believe they are a self-important drain on society and a stuck-up lib until they prove otherwise.

I’m sure there are a lot of good teachers out there, but all the vocal ones seem to be self-righteous jackasses. Your job isn’t nearly as noble as you want everyone to think.

Looking back on all my schooling I can remember 2 or 3 teachers that were really great. Now the number who were pure shite is a whole other story.

Are you effing kidding? Sarah Palin was a first term governor who quit the job the voters of AK entrusted her with, embarrassing many of her supporters who had hoped she would do a stellar job and re-emerge on the national stage. Christie is a first term governor of similar great promise who, God bless him, appears to have the heart of a lion. That’s a quality you want in a leader. Sexism has nothing to do with it.

And I love him. Do you hear me? I LOVE HIM!

Me likes everything I seen and heard about Christie so far, but I urge you all to not jump to conclusions just yet. He’s still a newbie, and the proof is in the pudding. Let’s give him a few years and see how he does. As we have seen many, many times before, he may turn into a typical politician as he experiences the scent of power. Or he may retain his testicles and become a great candidate for 2016, with proven experience on his resume.

I wouldn’t want to bet either way. Power corrupts. Very few can resist it.

Definitely, and I was a little worried with that with Palin and somewhat now feel it was wrong to pick her (even though I also believe she was the only reason McCain ever beat Obama in the polls). I just wonder what might have been if she’d been able to finish out a full two terms as governor and then entered the national scene.

Maybe it’s for the best, but I’m not convinced.

KentAllard on May 26, 2010 at 6:47 PM

Esthier on May 26, 2010 at 6:44 PM

I was excited when Palin was chosen, largely because she energized his flailing campaign and I liked her prior. But, I definitely had that thought (too soon) and definitely disapproved of her quitting at the time (I understand the reasoning now, but politically I think she’s probably finished).

Fred! was always, ALWAYS my favorite and I was pretty heartbroken when he just couldn’t get traction. I think if he were to enter now, people might be more receptive to someone of his maturity and pace given that the bloom is off the Obama rose. I’d love to see him come out swinging. *sigh* Hope springs eternal, and all.

I also like Jindal. I’d like to see more of him. I have no doubt of his ability or conservative cred, but, he’s very focused on his state and, until the oil spill, I hadn’t heard much from him in awhile.

I’m somewhat hopeful that she can come back from resigning, but I don’t at all believe it’s possible anytime soon. She needs a bit more distance from 2008.

I’d like to have a bit more hope in Fred!, but I’m worried that the lesson he took from the last election was that he just isn’t cut out for a campaign like that.

And with Bobby, he seems too interested in Louisiana to leave just yet, and while I love that about him, it’d be nice if we had a good front runner, especially in this upcoming election, where if Obama’s negatives stay where they are, I’d bet even McCain could beat him.

I’m tired of the teachers in NJ thinking that they are part of some privileged class and should get everything they want. All Christie asked was for the teachers to take a pay freeze and pay some of their health care tab. The teacher’s union rep here in town went before the school board when the school budget was being set and said, “Raise taxes.” That’s their response to everything–raise taxes. It is the reason my property taxes are now in the 5 digits. The board wouldn’t budge, kept the rate where it was and 32 teachers are going to lose their jobs. Cry me a river. It’s their own fault. There is no more money in the pockets of the taxpayers.

They don’t want individual rewards or incentives, they want group rewards. Its all about the collective and burying the individual. Apparently she’s not on the contract negotiating team.

If she had the guts to work in the private sector for a day or two she would be privy to hearing the boss tell her to find success elsewhere.

That is about what my cousin’s wife makes (also New Jersey). My cousin makes about the same in another job. They are both raving lunatic libs (he used to be normal till he met her) that own two houses one in Jersey the other in Vermont that they drive to every weekend in the Winter. In standard elite fashion they then tell us all we have to conserve energy to save the planet. Currently they are looking to buy a farm in Kentucky so they can supply themselves with only organic fresh food and unprocessed milk.

Wilson reminds me of the dirt-bags in my high school that would spend more time telling us to go home and have our parents to vote yeas on the budget or there would be “no more school” and we would be in classes with 80 students and no chalk for the chalkboard. Later on they would complain about only being able to take one European vacation and having to spend three weeks in the Caribbean instead.

What a tough life they had.

…retire at 52 yrs of age. They do lots of Overtime on purpose to inflate their salary and soon to be Pension, then retire in their early 50’s making $200k per year

jp on May 26, 2010 at 6:04 PM

They often retire after 30 years.

30 years * 9 months/year = 270 months

Life expectancy for a women at age 52 is 28 years.

28 years * 12 months/year = 336 months

She’ll be collecting her pension for much longer than she worked.

On top of the higher than market salaries, job security, pensions, full benefits, public employees want us to refer to them as “civil servants”? Please.

I think we have found our next George Washington, Ben Franklin and Abraham Lincoln all rolled in to one and he from New Jerry

James Knox Polk. Polk unfortunately kept his promise not to run for a second term.

Id like Christie to run in 2012 just to see him in a debate with Huck and Mitt.

He’d eat their lunch… without even taking a deep breath. The man has intellect with a spine.

Let’s open a Hooters just off the road from the Masjid al-Haram and see how that goes.

What most people don’t understand (and certainly this “educator”) is that unless you were in a major that required 3 or 4 semesters of calculus (science, engineering and pre-med) you aren’t being hired for what you learned in college…

Ivy Leaguers, hired for future ability sell (built in network and access to successful people). How do you make money as a history major: write interesting books that SELL, or become a sales person. Ditto for english, physch, sociology, etc. Accountants get paid for what they learned, but its no where near as much as a degree that had the second year of calculus… unless you SELL the work…

Teaching the 3 R’s… basic parenting… Masters of Education… worthless degree, just the unions method of protecting their members jobs from being lost to people with actual science, math, history and english degrees…

If the lady teacher wanted to make more money she should just tutor some rich kid for $90/hr… of course then she would have something like real accountability for her supposed talent.

Somehow methinks she wants the money without the accountability.

If she wants to make a bit more coin, maybe she could fill in for Ashley Dupre as Spitzer’s whore…..oh, wait…Ashley had some marketable skills that she was getting paid to use…..unlike, well, you know….

I’m just used to more disagreement on here, and what you wrote I could have typed almost word for word.

I f*cking love this guy. I’d campaign for him in a heartbeat.

ernesto on May 26, 2010 at 9:17 PM

Speechlessly happy.

FINALLY a Republican elected leader who dishes it right back out to the opposition and won’t back down!

We need to draft this guy for the national level.

Paul Ryan, too.

Maybe there’s still hope for America after all.
(Sorry to sound so dark…it’s been one of those days.)

I feel sorry for the pathetic teaching. The gubment tells them what to teach. They apparently have educated a generation of economists that are stupid. Where are the jobs Obama? I graduated in economics over 30 years ago. Does she teach that the money comes from the gubment and not the taxpayer?

In my former life, I was at one time an associate superintendent for a top ten city school system. I can attest to what you say.

Question: Of all of planes parked at the concourse, how can you tell which one is full of teachers?

Answer: It’s the one that still whines even though the engines have been shut down.

BTW, I was a career teacher.

Compensating? THIS IS JERSEY!!!!!!!

BDavis on May 26, 2010 at 9:45 PM

Usually, what liberals do with a guy like Christie, they put the pressure on and force him to back-down. Most guys want to be loved so they’ll try and compromise, which seldom accomplishes anything.

The liberals are going to be in a panic because, if this plan works, the voters in California, Illinois, New York and Massachusetts are going to be looking for a governor like Christie, which means liberal Democrats are out the door. In fact, they might figure out they need a republican legislature also, ooooooooooo, that could be serious trouble for Democrats and they know it. Look for the pressure to increase on Christie and the Democrats to go into full panic mode when it doesn’t work.
