Video: Alabama campaign ad of the day

posted at 8:55 pm on May 25, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Gateway Pundit. I’ve lost count: How many grassroots-pleasing ads have come out of Alabama in the past month? There was the Tim James “speak English” spot, the attack on Bradley Byrne for kinda sorta supporting evolution, the Young Boozer clip, the instantly immortal Dale Peterson “man on a horse” homage, and now this. Dude, we’re one more cowboy-themed ad from me uprooting and resettling in Birmingham.

But only if Alabama makes Peterson its official philosopher-king first, of course.

There is something delicious in the water in Alabama for candidates to “tell it like it is”. Makes them speak the truth. Bottle it up and sell it to the others. Maybe they’ll grow…some.

The other ad that is getting attention is for Agriculture Commissioner, Dale Peterson. HE’S OUT OF THIS WORLD WONDERFUL. Visit Alabama – don’t move here – we like it just the way it is – thank you very much.

Debt is a greater threat that jihad. If don’t stop letting private banks issue our currency then the collapse will be greater than any threat of some insane Islamic religious zealot.

Comparatively, Birmingham is a hellhole. Same with Memphis, which is a crime in and of itself.

True_King on May 25, 2010 at 9:42 PM

Word. If our money collapses, so will our military strength and foreign intelligence efforts. Almost if not effectively all of it – in every branch.

Jihad is there, financial collapse is here, and a loss on the latter will render us practically helpless to the former.

Allah – don’t go to B’ham. Kinda nasty in parts. H’ville is more high tech. I’ve lived in the Tennessee Valley now for 20 yrs. My husband and I were transplants from just outside Boston. Talk about culture shock – especially 20 years ago because ‘Bama has come a long, long way since then. Now, we are raising our boys here, and I’m grateful we are because this is a real family-oriented area of the country.

Also, I live in Les Phillip’s district. He would be great for congress but right now Mo Brooks seems to be gathering more of the endorsements, etc. Actually, if you like Les, he could use some dough before the primary on June 1.

Liberals have a big big suprise coming. Reverse migration!

Allow me to explain. Eventually the economy is coming back. And America HAS TO rejuventate it manufacturing sector the capital that goes into manufacturing will avoid liberals at all costs. Detroit, Cleveland, Massachusetts, Illinois will be avoided like the plague. Withut a complete political reversal capital will not be attracted to these states. Where is the capital going to go? Low tax, right to work states, that’s where. It will be the migration of black people to the north in reverse. The jobs will be in the Big 12, the SEC, and the ACC.

The effect will be a emptying out of the urban core of the Democrat party. Who repopulate the cities? A more conservative person that was driven to the suburbs.

Now of course I could be totally worng. Maybe the politics of the rust belt turns into a free/efficient market paradise the likes of which Milton Friedman could not even imagine. Then again Detroit has been dying for decades and the percentage of votes for Democrats, already ridiculously lopsided, continues to grow…

Disturb the Universe on May 26, 2010 at 7:44 AM

With all the comments on Birmingham, I figured I might chime in to defend her a bit from all the crime and “it sucks” comments.

Like every major city I have visited in this country, we have bad parts you shouldn’t walk through with your wallet out. Or, for that matter, a wallet, period. It’s old hat to state such a thing. There are parts of Atlanta that are horrible. DC? You betcha. Boston? Uh-huh. LA? Are you kidding me? Birmingham is not special in that regard.

I live outside Birmingham and it’s extremely nice. Great weather, beautiful country, close to the gulf for vacations, major city with all the music tours just 2.5 hours away. Birmingham has a few other nice things to it as well, such as the arts community at UAB, the biggest, nastiest track in Nascar, hunting, more fishing than you can ever want, SEC baseball, major golf tournaments, a science center, the civil rights museum, and much more.

Like most cities in America though, we were never rebuilt after WWII, so our buildings and infrastructure needs some help. Tax dollars are not abundant but that’s getting better. With the addition of many major car manufacturers moving a stones throw from here, it’s been a boon for our economy. Honda, Mercedes and Hyundais are all built in this state.

The best thing about living here is that I am surrounded by republicans who can defend their families and aren’t afraid to tell it like it really is, not some MSM version of things. The men are tough too. :)

Southern women rock. I married one. Born in Ohio, moved to Alabama and wouldn’t move for the world. It’s nice to know that if I strike up a conversation with someone, there is a 8-10 chance they will be conservative. That’s worth it’s weight in gold.

I have never seen a more awesome sight (awesome in the best sense of the word) than sitting in the Gator Bowl watching Alabama play Florida and before the game started, the Blue Angels flew right over if not through the Gator Bowl airspace overhead.

The next most awesome sight I beheld was a similar one to that first one except it was Ole Miss playing against the Gators. Awesome. Just awesome.

You all who diss Alabama just don’t know what you’re doing.

Lourdes on May 26, 2010 at 10:10 AM

WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!

Just had to give a shout out to our yutes institute of higher learning.

We live in MS but have traveled all over AL. We are very happy to have them as our next door neighbors. They are great people, and were the first people to come to our aid after Katrina. We can never thank them enough for all their help, prayers and neighborly love shown to our Gulf Coast. We owe you guys big time! Except in football. GO STATE!!!! MAROON AND WHITE!!!!!

In defense of Birmingham, there are good parts of B’ham, but unfortunately the whackadoodle Libtards have taken over their government. We have loved shopping there, going to sporting events there, and so far have had no troubles regarding crime.
