Video: Professor booed at Arizona graduation for criticizing immigration law

Via Gateway Pundit, palate-cleansing fun for the whole family. She specializes in identity studies, naturally enough (gender studies, chicano studies, queer theory, etc.), and so naturally enough, an address to students had to turn into a political harangue. Oh, and naturally enough, she mischaracterized the law:
“The new Arizona law generally known as SB 1070 is considered the strictest anti-immigrant legislation in the country and is explicitly intended to drive undocumented immigrants out of the state. One reason it has instigated a boycott is because to a whole lot of people, myself included, it appears to not only invite but require the police to engage in racial profiling.”
Actually, the statute requires cops not to engage in racial profiling, and I’m not sure why she thinks it’s any more draconian than, say, federal law or various local ordinances that look just like it, but identity studies is all about “narratives,” right? Well, she’s got her narrative and she’s not letting go. And why should she? The demagoguery is paying big dividends for Democrats in Colorado and Arizona so far, with Latino support surging for Michael Bennet and Rodney Glassman. More amnesty bracelets, Pelosi, stat!

Is it just me, or did it look like there were a lot more people at the front (presumably the Dean’s Listers) of the students than the back standing and cheering at the end? That’s where the teacher’s pets and regurgitate-whatever-you’re-told crowd would be. The rest of the class seemed remarkably unimpressed.

As a wildcat myself (1989) I am hopeful for the future of our nation after seeing this. Actually I heard about this yesterday, some friends of ours were there and saw this in person.
BTW My daughter starts there in the fall, and she is a rock solid conservative as well. Have no fear, we will be OK!

Students are seated according to major. My daughter graduated UofA College of Social and Behavioral Sciences last year with a degree in linguistics. There were, I think, 7 in her major and they were way toward the end. The biggest majors were journalism and psychiatry and there lots and lots of them – hundreds. As I recall from last year, those majors were seated toward the front.

Two years ago at my nephews graduation at UC Santa Cruz it was all about illegal immigrants and their rights… It was annoying to sit through and at one point I got so fed up with all the Mexican, El Salvadoran, Guatamalan etc flags that I asked one kid where’s the American flag? Americans are the ones who are paying the taxes that are most probably paying for your education… All I got was an angry stare… In a few weeks we’re heading to his sisters graduation there… I expect it to be worse! My niece and nephew just grin and bear it…

A very different scene from my son’s graduation this year from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology where they began the program by thanking the 15 graduates who were were veterans of the US military and went on to mention that one student would not be there because his wife had just given birth to a daughter, but that he would be accepting a commission as 2nd lieutenant later that afternoon. Thunderous applause to that.
But then it is an engineering school and there are no gender/queer/minority studies there.

Are we supposed to believe the AZ cops are looking for Australians who have overstayed their visas? If cops are supposed to stop illegal immigration in Arizona, by definition they have to racially profile. If the law actually says they can’t racially profile, then it would be impossible for the law to result in catching one illegal immigrant.
Unless, of course, you’re assuming cops will ignore the provision about racial profiling. And that is what you’re assuming, right?
