Patrick Kennedy: Arizona’s law is like the Trail of Tears or something

posted at 9:04 pm on May 24, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via CNS. Normally I’d be annoyed, but considering the source, how seriously can you take this? He too, of course, insists that racial profiling is imminent even though (a) the law expressly prohibits it and (b) similar laws haven’t led to profiling, but oh well. Too bad CNS’s reporter didn’t press him to explain whether he’s worried about American citizens of Latino descent being profiled or whether he’s fretting about illegals being profiled too. If it’s just the former, fair enough. Anyone seriously think it’s just the former, though?

I’m giving you two clips, actually; the second, via Freedom’s Lighthouse, also has to do with a Massachusetts pol and illegal immigration (I know, I know, Patches represents Rhode Island, but we’re talking pedigree here) but the trail of tears in this case is a bit different. Make sure you watch long enough to see what the suspect told cops when he was arrested.

Tsalagi brothers and sisters… this is the real name of the Cherokee People “Tsalagi”, Cherokee is the name that was given us by those who could not spell or pronounce our name.

the Trail of Tears was a mass murder perpetrated by President Andrew Jackson, in which he directly flouted the ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States of America. thousands upon thousands of men women and children died through several forced marches and a full scale invasion of their land by an un-uniformed band of thieves miscreants and land grabbers, who killed many and burned villages to the ground before any of the marches ever began… these were not huts or teepees as liberal Hollywood would have you think… But towns with leadership and a Constitution which bound them… they lived in buildings and wore clothes as any englishman might. they had already ceded much of their land in hopes of living side by side with the Americans… but they were lied to and then murdered…

the Cherokee Nation of which I am a full Citizen, has it’s own rules and regulations of whom may be and may not be a citizen… as many of my brothers and sisters have mentioned they too are Cherokee, but the may not be citizens… because the Tribe decided that only those who could prove lineage to the Dawe Rolls would be citizens. so these people who may be descended from those who ran from the “Death List” have no claim to their rightful ancestry… because a community decided who would and who would not enter it’s ranks. right or wrong they, that community made that decision. and they have that right… as does Arizona.

the use of a Mass Murder and dark place in American Bureaucracy to make a political dig for the benefit scoring some point with his base… is disgusting. I don’t believe that the Arizona government has killed one person or displaced one natural citizen as the American Government did with the Trail of Tears. on the contrary they have defend those same individuals against invasion. they are in essence the “Cherokee” on the trail of tears… not the American Government.

I have forgiven my government for the wrongs it has burdened my people with, for those criminals are long gone and so is that government. it is people like you Mr. Kennedy that use my ancestors death for political profit… it is you I detest.

Tsalagi…

When a Kennedy says trail of tears, he means a trail of empty whiskey bottles.

elifino on May 25, 2010 at 4:35 AM

Too bad Ded Kennedy didn’t practice the ancient Egyptian religion. The whole family could have been buried with his communist ass. One can sometimes only dream. The Kennedys are a communist stain on America, and have worked hard for this nation’s downfall…..

The enforcement of the immigration laws in Arizona is in no way close to the mass murder of the Trail of Tears. As a Native American and member of the Cherokee Nation, I am outraged that this drug taking, drunken liberal piece of crap would even think this, let alone say it.

Do as Eisenhower and Truman did. Check this out.

Tsalagi…
You are very correct on this matter. Andrew Jackson was a SOB.
Little teddy needs to check into rehab and stay there.
Maybe the Great Spirit is moving this Nation back onto a good trail.

Alright. Once and for all here it is:

1. All Liberals who have said they haven’t read the bill are liars. They’ve read the bill.

2. They don’t like the bill because they don’t like our current legal immigration policy. They want an open border. The AZ law re-enforces a federal law they don’t like. They think that current federal immigration law is _______ (racist, exclusionary, protectionist, etc., insert Liberal delusion here.) As such any law that supports or enforces current federal law will be viewed as negative by Liberals.

3. Their goal is Amnesty for all.

Period. (But not end of story).

watson007 on May 25, 2010 at 8:02 AM

First, Jackson was a Democrat! Second, that democrat flaunted the Constitution to commit the atrocity of the trial of Tears of a peaceful freedom loving people.

EliTheBean on May 25, 2010 at 8:26 AM

Osiyo, Kaptain Amerika
Using the horror of Nunna daul Tsuny for his political point-making is indeed disgusting, but I am certain Kennedy will feel no shame in doing so.
Another nation disgraced this way would be outraged and demand apology. I expect the Tsalagi, however, will simply pass it off with a shrug; being only one more insult added to the many already endured.

(*) I had to look that up.

Information regarding the Dodd-Kennedy-Waitress-Sandwich thing, for anyone who missed this critical information about the Big Brains (*coughing here*) working the halls o’ the Senate.

Lourdes on May 25, 2010 at 9:05 AM

Dems don’t ever feel any shame, especially a Kennedy. They’ve also used the holocaust as an example of the AZ law. He probably had an aide tell him about the Trail of Tears and it sounded good so he used it. When did this guy get outta rehab, maybe he should have stayed there for awhile longer.

Patrick Kennedy throws out the “trail of tears” and slavery like he knows something.

Did you know Patrick that on the trail of tears, the Cherokee brought their SLAVES with them?

http://www.originalpechanga.com/2008/06/rep-diane-watsons-meeting-with-cherokee.html

And under current President of the Cherokee, Chad “Our Slaves Were Treate Well” Smith, they are trying to eliminate those same Cherokee Freedmen from the tribe?
Stand up for THEM Patrick.

To paraphrase Mr. Kennedy:
To have elected officials like Obama/Reid/Pelosi/Kennedy, really takes us back and really goes to the worst of character of our nation, and ah. . . it’s it’s demeaning to our country that we would move in that direction, it’s beneath us as a people.

Being part Cherokee myself, I wholeheartedly agree with you!!!!!

Being 1/4 Choctaw I am with you both.

thomasaur on May 24, 2010 at 9:27 PM

As an American with quite a few races and nations in my heritage, I’m insulted.

mizflame98 on May 25, 2010 at 10:46 AM

It seems that it’s always this way with the runt of the litter.

Joe Kennedy would be embarassed to have the offspring of his loins whining like this for attention.

Hard to mistake that voice. The minute he spoke I thought that sure does sound like Wes Studi. I kept listening to the Navi language to see if he threw in any Tsalagi words I might recognize.
