Video: The greatest political ad ever?

posted at 3:00 pm on May 16, 2010 by Allahpundit

It’s not the greatest ad ever. If he had roped a calf or branded a steer or something, then it would have been the greatest ad ever. I watched it twice before googling around to see if it was some sort of stunt candidacy or “Funny or Die” parody. Nope. I think this guy is on the level. Although after watching it a third time, I’m still honestly not sure.

Only two things are certain, my friends: (1) He’s about to become the most famous agricultural commissioner candidate in America, and (2) Alabama politics are awesome. Exit question: Christie/Peterson 2012?

Alabama politics are awesome.

Allah, you don’t think a literal interpretation of the bible should be a litmus test for the GOP, do you?

I’d sooner vote for the horse.

If you take away the imagery the guy doesn’t really look that extreme. The parts about family farms and taking money from industries that the ag commissioner regulates could have come right out of the mouth of a Democrat.

Mark1971 on May 16, 2010 at 3:18 PM

F*%K Agriculture Commissioner! Alabama needs to make that guy a Senator.

Chrisin206 on May 16, 2010 at 3:19 PM

Captain America on May 16, 2010 at 3:19 PM

TheSitRep on May 16, 2010 at 3:26 PM

If he had said he was a demonrat, that would’ve been hilarious. Of course the part about his opponent stealing campaign signs at night meant his opponent had to be a demonrat.

volsense on May 16, 2010 at 3:27 PM

I know nothing about him, yet I want to have his children! Best ad ever!

CityFish on May 16, 2010 at 3:27 PM

We have to get this guy to run in 2012. The debates would be awesome. Can you picture RP claiming we got hit because we were over there, with this guy standing at the next podium?

Southernblogger on May 16, 2010 at 3:28 PM

Oh.ma.gawd.
This guy is amazing. He needs to run for more than ag commissioner.

El_Terrible on May 16, 2010 at 3:30 PM

He’s running for Ag Commissioner, because here in AL that is a very important position. Most of AL is still rural and farming is vital. Also the Ag Commissioner is responsible for regulating a variety of everyday activities (think restaurants and groceries). In today’s political climate where big gov’t wants to regulate every calorie you put in your mouth, these positions take on new importance.

Having a strong belief in term limits and the Constitution and being the only businessman and military veteran seeking the Commissioner’s position, I think it is long past time to remove control of our state from the professional, perpetual politicians and the good old boy network, who are supported by special interests. It’s time to return control to the people, where it began and where it belongs.”

“With decades of no leadership in the Commissioner’s office, family farms and ranches are disappearing faster in Alabama than in any other state in America. Alabama today ranks #1 in the country with 11.3% of lost rural jobs since the start of the current recession in December 2007. Without our family farms and ranches to stand as a buffer between us and imported foods, Alabamians will see food safety in extreme jeopardy. We will see food costs skyrocket.”

Peterson is the only Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries candidate who has publically denounced the continued hiring of illegal aliens. Peterson’s public objection to the hiring of illegal aliens has given rise to special interest groups endorsing and funding one of their own for the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries job.

This guy sounds like the real deal, thanks for the introduction AP

fourdeucer on May 16, 2010 at 3:46 PM

I fell in love with Christie the other day, and now I’m in love with Peterson. Choices, choices… what is a girl to do?!

Seriously, though, these are the kind of men I see everyday. They’re fantastic, and I’m glad to see them out in front again. It’s time to get over pretending that ‘wee wee’d up’ metro-sexual bull$hit artists can be leaders. Liberals can’t cut it in leadership or governance. They’re spoiled adolescents with no sense of responsibility.

It’s time to give them their allowances, ground them forever and kick them out of office.
