Audio: Palin rips Chicago school for boycotting girls basketball tournament in Arizona; Video: Students speak out
posted at 2:54 pm on May 13, 2010 by Allahpundit
Excellent. The school’s boycott was already on Fox’s radar but Sarahcuda picking it up pushes it into national media, which is where it deserves to be. Not only is the hypocrisy astounding — the bien-pensants in charge evidently had no moral objection to letting students visit China — but the idea of punishing kids over politics is a guaranteed backlash-starter. It has, my friends, come to this:
Safety concerns partly fueled the decision, but the trip also “would not be aligned with our beliefs and values,” said District 113 Assistant Superintendent Suzan Hebson. That explanation, though, smacks of political protest to parents upset by the decision…
“Why are we mixing politics and a basketball tournament?” said Michael Evans, whose daughter Lauren is a junior on the team. “It’s outrageous that they’re doing this under the guise of safety.”…
“Many of the parents feel that this should be resolved in the judicial court, not the basketball court,” said Cynde Munzer, whose daughter, Lena, is a freshman on the team.
“I disagree personally with the Arizona legislation, but I also feel strongly about young women’s rights,” Munzer said. “They don’t want to get involved in politics.”
Let’s hope Rasmussen or someone polls this soon; I’d be surprised if opposition to the school’s move is under 80 percent. Exit question: Has sports boycott fee-vah now officially started to fizzle? Exit answer: Sure looks like it!
Update: From this afternoon’s Megyn Kelly show, Palin hits them again.
Update: Open the floodgates: Via Hengler, the students are speaking up now too.

How can there be safety concerns when the law is not in effect yet?
Clark1 on May 13, 2010 at 3:08 PM
I’m not sure I’d call it “safety” concerns.
They found out AZ actually prosecutes criminals and lawbreakers, and realized that sending these kids from Chicago there might turn out badly?
That may be accurate; but most parents aren’t willing to admit that their kids are criminals and likely to end up in jail (at least if they’re caught in a place that doesn’t have the graft, corruption, and setup where you can bribe your way free like Chicago).
Good job for them knowing their kids well enough to know that sending them to a state that actually prosecutes lawbreakers might not be “safe”.

The Arizona law doesn’t go into effect until July, when the School year is already over…just saying the numbers don’t add up, but this is a California Public School System so who knows what kind of math they are teaching ;)

Gee, when the word “secession” has actually started floating around in conversation for the last year or so regarding Texas, it’s really a great idea for the rest of the country to start alienating Arizona for exercising their Tenth Amendment rights to protect themselves against a wave of invaders from another country that the federal government is too f**king lazy to take care of.

China doesn’t simply persecute females. Entire generations of baby females were murdered, even by parents, because of China’s eugenic’s plan that determined family size and government prioritizations awarded only to boys for being born, and opportunities for only boys in education and careers.
And now China has far more young adult men than women, the former goal presenting a problem so far as maintaining any traditional familial opportunities for the young men to marry. The government has obvious military plans for their use.

Even as Eric Holder’s Gringo Gestapo are demanding “Papers, please!” from Faisal Shazad’s immigration-violator accomplices in Massachusetts, liberals in Illinois are detaining students without probable cause, banning them from exercising their Universal Human Right to immigrate to Arizona.
Fox:
Votes? Votes mean nothing–the Arizona legislature voted, didn’t they? Voting with your feet is sacrosanct, though.
Besides, if there were illegal immigrants on the team, the School District would be in violation of it’s own policies…it would be restricting the freedom to illegal immigrants to travel freely!
Evidently, Internal Passport Controls are for Americans only. Layers of irony…

And AZ should reciprocate the boycott and repossess the Colorado River water that Los Angeles CA preemptively stole, building the water pipeline through AZ, built without negotiations and against water rights at the time. CA had the money then to rape AZ and the political clout to get away with it.
That was then. This is now.

Not to mention that the state law is worded exactly in accordance with the federal law.
The Principle of Least Interest
In American human relations, the party with the least interest carries an upper hand, passive aggressive, because they could neglect responsibilities and the party who really cared about something was left holding the bag to carry out the responsibilities.
Nice to have a law to erase the revised progressive mafia-style “understanding” that unconstitutionally burdened border states to endure the unendurable, being pirated into bankruptcy and into a lawless badlands of rape, murder, kidnapping and burglaries. The federal monopoly of power abused by said federals refusing to enforce federal law effectively handcuffed states and citizens to be enslaved. The WILL of the American Citizens to demand Constitutional protection from border invasion has measured appropriately the local means for Constitutional self defense.

Safety concerns would presumably be over all the the illegals rioting, right?
Count to 10 on May 13, 2010 at 3:44 PM
Unfortunately, we have plenty of illegal alien criminals to send them. Did you know that we only prosecute human smugglers caught smuggling at least 10 illegals? Can’t afford to prosecute those who are just bringing in groups of 8 or 9 at a time. We also don’t prosecute any drug smugglers who bring in under 500 lbs. of drugs at a time; just too many of them so we can only afford to go after the bigger ones.
Just something to keep in mind when you hear Libs arguing that the crime problem from illegals in AZ is not that bad. Many of the criminals who get caught here (and only a small fraction actually get caught) never get prosecuted at all — they’re just turned loose and it’s back to business as usual.

I’ve been saying for a long time that Palin probably isn’t running for President. I really believe she’s chosen to become the Conservative “Boudica” and has decided to take on the LSM, and Liberals in her “Pit Bull from Hell” role that she’s crafted quite nicely for herself.
I love how the woman just sits back until the Libbies make a totally stupid strategic mistake that just begs to be attacked – then she’s in there – teeth and lipstick and all ripping them a new one!
I don’t know of any other Republicans who do this. They are all too concerned about their “image” … she doesn’t seem to be that concerned though.
HondaV65 on May 13, 2010 at 3:47 PM
A long time ago much was made of Nixon’s enemy list
Now, a part of the leadership of our nation, teachers, politicians, journalists, religious leaders etc are identifying dangerous segments of society, folk who disapprove of their politics
Teachers are teaching students these citizens must be contained and squashed. Municipalities are working to severe economic ties with groups of citizens who do not share the proper group think. Identify the enemy, mark him, and contain him. If possible destroy him. Even replace the enemy with better citizens, maybe from other nations
Meanwhile, share Panda bears with China, and ignore news reports about plitical prisoners, or N. Korean females sold into the Chinese sex trade. Scream about reduced teacher COLAs in New Jersey, but remain silent about 12 hour days, seven day weeks for dollar a day factory workers in China making the IPODs and other toys for the children of America
It is not enough to debate and face off in an election. We must search and destroy. We must warn the children about the evils of their parents. We must purge.
What is happening now is a movement to resolve issues without debate. Global warming is not open to argument. The dogma is being crystallized.
However, these budding Stalinists are not in the same position, numerically, as was Stalin when he created his perfect state. IMHO they acted too soon and gave their targets a huge boost. Time will tell
