New McCain ad: You cannot be serious
posted at 4:10 pm on May 10, 2010 by Allahpundit
I don’t know what to say, guys. I’m genuinely speechless. Pandering is one thing, shameless careerist pandering is something else, and then there’s John “Goddamned Fence” McCain marching along the border in a badass Navy baseball cap looking like he could choke out a coyote with his bare hands. And you know what? If he thought he’d get a few points’ bounce from it, I bet he’d do it too. How long before he’s spotted on the trail wearing a “Viva Los 1070″ t-shirt?
Consider this a preview of the 2014 “Re-elect Lindsey Graham” ad campaign, featuring Grahamnesty piloting a Border Patrol chopper and lending a hand on an oil rig.

I wish the AZ Tea Party peeps had been able to make a difference in the GOP candidate for Sen here but we have JD or MAC.
As a Dem, my side is so far gone on koolaide now I was pretty sure if I showed up looking to get on state level cmtes that the Obots would point and do that Invasion of the Body Snatchers shriek thing…
whomever the GOP puts up to run against idiot Terry Goddard is who I will vote for but I would rather have JD who always answered my annoying DEM emails than MAC who will lie to our faces apparently..

He’d best check with the former Governor of his state. She/he seems to think the border is more secure now than it’s ever been!
repvoter on May 10, 2010 at 4:55 PM
This is the first year that he actually stopped and listened to the people of Arizona, instead of doing what he knew was best. Don’t worry though, right after the election he will suffer selective amnesia and, “the fence, what fence?”.
Good luck Arizona, you deserve what you elect, but I don’t deserve what you elect.

McCain: I was never a maverick, and I have always wanted a fence. Hardy-har-har
mobydutch on May 10, 2010 at 4:56 PM
Other than Maverick getting up in a Navy jet and pretending to strafe the border for the TV cameras to show his toughness on illegal immigration, I can’t think of an ad more insulting to Arizona voters’ intelligence than this baby.

McCain will say anything to get elected. Once in power he’ll sell anyone and anything out to keep it. The man is a loose cannon in the traditional sense… a five ton chunk of metal sliding around on a wooden deck a danger to ship and crew alike.
Cut him loose. Do it with respect… but the man has had more then his fair share already.

There was nothing resembling a “natural flow” in the converstion. Too scripted. If it had to be scripted, could it be sincere? Are the border patrol agents also the ones building the wall? If not why did he tell the Border guy to do it? McCain, great guy, Needs to go spend time with the family and enjoy the golden years.

It took a woman Governor to give McCain some cojones on the border. What does she have that Sarah Palin (another woman Governor) didn’t?
Yes, this does look like shameless pandering by McCain when he suddenly realized that Arizona WANTS the danged fence! But, for all the McAmnesty haters out there–can Hayworth keep a Democrat out of that Senate seat? Who knows, maybe McCain really means it this time, and even if not, would Goddard vote for the fence?
Steve Z on May 10, 2010 at 5:11 PM
Hey, I don’t care whether it’s Hayworth or McCain as long as it not whichever one of these Dems wins the primary:
Glassman – who was an aide to the chair of the Congressional Progressive and posts on Daily Kos, among other things
Garcia – supports illegals earning citizenship and is Executive Director of the Willie C. Velasquez Center
Parraz – a community and a union organizer, Arizona State Director for the National AFL-CIO
And of course all three of these Dems are against the new Arizona law.

Hey Allahpundit and others who sneer at the ad, John McCain has always been a military and national security man, and he sees clearly the national security crisis we have on the southern border. Northern Mexico has descended into a lawless state rule by naro-terrorism, and it is spilling over the border into this country.
John McCain got the message back in 2007 that the majority of Americans want law enforcement first and backed off what had originally been the Reagan approach of comprehensive reform. Since then, the law enforcement problems have become worse. Add in the related national security issues, then what John McCain is doing is very logical and right.

John McCain’s Gold Medal Flip-Flop Performance on the border fence is an instant classic!
This eclipses his previous classic of ‘I’m not a Maverick!’ for flip-floppery, which is now moving into the Silver Medal category.
Obama has given him stiff competition this year, and may yet pull it out with the WH declaration that they really aren’t after your 401(k) plans.
There will be, of course, plenty of time left for McCain to do even better, and in the race with Obama you never know how fast the flip-flops will come. As it now stands these two fine performers are working extremely hard at shifting directions so often as to leave past supporters with whiplash and past detractors unable to say ‘I told you so!’ fast enough.
Tune in next week to ‘Can you top this flip-flop?’ to see who else will dare to enter the arena of verbal mendacity to see if they just might be able to do better than Sen. McCain.

Everybody knows McCain just can’t wait to work together with his true co-sponsoring friends like Lieberman, Schumer, Lindsey Graham, and John Kerry.
It will be Lindsey Graham and John McCain together again in the 112th congress stabbing conservatives in the back till 2014 because that’s when it’s Lindsey Gramham’s turn to act like a conservative. It’ll be the rinse and repeat 2010 McCain republican primary campaign.

Reporter: Senator McCain, is it true that if you are reelected to the senate from the great state of Arizona you will work hard to see that a real fence is put up along the border with Mexico rather than just some phony so called “virtual fence”? And a follow up question sir, if so what will the physical fence look like?
John McCain: That is a very good question and yes when I am reelected to the senate I will see to it that a physical fence is put up along the border if I have to build it myself! . What will it look like? Well it will run the full length of the border and have special security gates every 100 feet.
All the security gates will have on them:
1) Press one for Spanish (with a response of “Welcome Amigo, my country is your country and please take a free map to the wonderful plantation owner employer of your choice. Also please feel free to enroll you children in our schools and demand that they be taught in Spanish and please also feel free to avail yourself of all the free medical care that you want. If there are any Gringos in line in front of you, just go to the head of the line. If you want to fly any Mexican flags plese feel free to just take down an American one and use it’s flag pole”).
2) Press two for English (with a response of “#uck you! I know more than any of you damned bigoted nativist lazy madre fornicario gringos who do not want what is right for America del Norte!!!”).

People complained that McCain was not on their side. They were upset that he did not get what they were saying. He gets a lot of really nasty feedback for his immigration stance, he states he got the message people want the border secured first and foremost…which is what people claimed they wanted him to say…and then they complain that he actually has the audacity to support the fence, after he saying he had the audacity to not support the fence.
It would seem that if you want this thing done, you want all the support you could get.
Terrye on May 10, 2010 at 7:35 PM
So if you are wrong on an issue, if McCain is being honest now, you can not change your mind? Ok so, if he wins, hold him to his promises AZ.

Translation: McCain’s suck up to La Raza
By Michelle Malkin • July 14, 2008 12:04 PM
While John McCain’s lips move this afternoon during his speech to the Race’s open-borders lovefest, let me serve as your interpreter:
MCCAIN: My friends, you are right. Those people who killed my shamnesty bill have ill intentions. They are bigots, just like my friend Lindsay Graham told you they were when he spoke before you two years ago.
My friends, I don’t want to talk about securing the border any more than you do. But trust me, when the “border” is “secure” (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), then we’ll do what we all want to do: Formalize our Sanctuary Nation. Rejoice that illegal aliens are serving in the military. And sanctimoniously demonize and marginalize all those pesky bigots who keep obsessing about immigration enforcement and national security. I’m as committed to peddling sob-story platitudes and whitewashing your ethnic nationalism as you are! (What was that about the 15 things about The Race you should know? Shhhhhhhhhhh!)
Just work with me here, ok? Brother Obama may have marched with you at the Chicago May Day illegal alien parade. But I have a lifetime commitment to Hispandering! And you have showered with me with honors for my open-borders work.
Remember?
They don’t call me La Raza’s voice in Washington for nothing.
