Comedy gold: Salon editor can’t name any extreme voices on the left

posted at 7:43 pm on April 20, 2010 by Allahpundit

High comedy from this a.m.’s “Morning Joe.” The funny part, actually, isn’t that Walsh blanks on any lefty names. I can almost understand that given that they’re talking about Rush and Beck initially and there’s simply no liberal pundit with as long of a media reach as those two. To find the “extremists” on the left, you need to move down several weight classes.

No, the funny part is that Scarborough and Brzezinski do have someone in mind and it’s painfully clear to everyone on set — except Walsh — who that person is. If you follow the MSNBC soap opera, it’s also painfully clear why Joe and Mika can’t name him, but between the hand gestures, facial expressions, and Scarborough cracking up with laughter at their dilemma, I dare say you’ll be able to figure it out. (In case you’re struggling, here’s a tiny hint!) Exit question: Couldn’t they at least have named Frank Rich? Click the image to watch.

According to the media, left wingers don’t exist. The only political extemists are right wing extremists.

All those people who show up at anti-war rallies aren’t left wingers. They’re people with mainstream views who just happen to be passionately opposed to the war.

All those people who show up to those anti WTO rallies, who throw rocks and molotov cocktails aren’t left wingers. They’re people with mainstream views who just happen to be passionately against globalization.

All those people who show up at Act-Up rallies and chain themselves to street lamps in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral aren’t left wingers. They’re people with mainstream views who just happen to be passionate about gay rights.

And all the people who show up to these various rallies in no way hold a similar and distinctive world view. It’s always about supporting individual issues.

Over the years, the media has run 9 million TV specials about how fabulously rockin’ the 1960s were. Lots of clips about all the various social movements, the rock bands, the fashion, etc. But they’ll never give you any information about how many of those flag burning radicals cut their hair and put on a suit and tie after all the excitement was over, and vowed to change the system from within. How many of them rose to prominent positions in local, state, and the federal goverment? How many of them are state comptrollers? How many of them are heads of their local teachers union? How many of them are White House advisors? They won’t tell you.

Imagine if, over the past 40 years, the mainstream media never ran one single story about the religious right. Imagine if 98% of Americans had never heard of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Ralph Reed. Imagine if the only publications that ever used the term “religious right” were unabashed left wing rags like the Village Voice and The Nation. That’s pretty much what the media has done in regards to an all out information black out about the American Left.

And it worked! A majority of Americans shrugged their shoulders at Obama’s relationships with Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers. “A left winger? What’s that?”

And the idiots who run the RNC have no clue how to respond to this propaganda campaign. The Democrats and the media operate like a finely calibrated tag team of misinformation, while the Republican party is like an old man dozing off in a wheelchair.

We can justifiably whine about media bias. But it’s the responsibility of the Republican party to combat it. Instead of leading the way, they reluctantly nod their heads along to Rush Limbaugh.

Imagine if Andrew Breitbart was head of the RNC. Just imagine.

I can almost understand that given that they’re talking about Rush and Beck initially and there’s simply no liberal pundit with as long of a media reach as those two.

Agreed, with the caveat that Rush and Beck are not “extreme”. Unless liberty, freedom, and the constitution are now extreme. Actually the problem is that there are too many extreme leftists, statists, Marxists, ect on there side. However, here is a simple answer:

Barack Hussein Obama
-Spread the wealth
-Bitter clingers
-”Rev” Wright
-Ayers
-”Amused” by taxpayers protesting his spending
-Trying KSM in NYC
-Threatening private industry
Etc, etc, etc, suffice to say the O is the most prominent out-of-the-closet hardcore leftist I’ve ever seen.

LGF used to be the premier go to site for the right after 9/11. A lot of bloggers including AP started blogging because of Chuckie. Then sometime in 2007 he started to go through the first stages of dementia and it wasn’t until the fall of 2009 did his dementia go into full effect. He is now persona non grata on the right and no one gives too sh!ts about him on the left. All he has left is a few cult like followers on his sad, sad website.

Joan Walsh is vile. She sees life only through the prism of black and white, and her articles on Salon are so out there I sometimes wonder how anyone with even half a brain could write the garbage she does. But then again, she does get lots of comments on her articles, lots of traffic on their site, so maybe she’s as dumb as a fox. But vile nevertheless. Just really vile.

And Rush is not even extreme. Within the scope of American history and Western history, you will hear more extremism on MSNBC than you ever could on Rush’s show.
They just accept Rush as extreme by definition and there is never a hint of evidence. Then they get lost in the weeds arguing and joking about the obvious and the basic premise is never examined.
And, yes, I take it too serious. And, yes, AP it is very funny. Thanks.
