Obama mocks tea partiers: You should thank me for cutting taxes

posted at 8:33 pm on April 15, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Dan Riehl, this may well be the single most obnoxious soundbite he’s uttered since his immortal bitter/clinger bon mot during the campaign. Which, if I’m not mistaken, also occurred at a fundraiser. Funny, the thoughts that bubble up when he’s among friends.

You’re welcome, America.

President Barack Obama said Thursday he’s amused by the anti-tax tea party protests that have been taking place around Tax Day.

Obama told a fundraiser in Miami that he’s cut taxes, contrary to the claims of protesters.

“You would think they’d be saying thank you,” he said.

At that, many in the crowd at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts stood and yelled, “Thank you!”

Let’s see. For starters, he’s lying: He has raised some taxes, contrary to his campaign pledge two years ago. But more than that, he seems almost to be laughing at people for being concerned about deficits. Did we or did we not learn just last night that a majority of tea partiers think their taxes are fair? They’re not some fanatic “zero tax” movement, in other words. They’re willing to pay what they’re paying now; what they want is a government small enough to make ends meet with what they’re paying. By The One’s logic, if he lowered the top marginal income tax bracket to one percent, we should expect tea partiers to fall on their knees and shout hallelujah even though it would mean annual deficits many times the trillion-dollar leviathans we’re currently saddled with. Anyone think that would happen? Anyone except Obama not yet grasp that conservatives want fiscal responsibility, not lower taxes at any and all costs?

What’s most amazing about this is that everyone understands the feds will need to raise taxes, and soon, to try to put a dent in our Everest of liabilities. That was the entire point of Paul Volcker, Obama’s own advisor, whispering about a VAT a few weeks ago. Tax hikes are simply a fait accompli, due in no small part to The One’s own unprecedented spending, and we’d probably have them already if not for his political cowardice in refusing to demand them before his reelection bid. And yet here he is, actually patting himself on the back for being a tax-cutter. Unbelievable.

Well, he just threw 6 Billion at NASA for nothing with no clear purpose. Some of the best minds in the world planned what we should do next and he comes with with some ‘panel’ of god knows who and wants to go to an asteroid. well, Constellation would do that and more. There are quite a few non-political appointments in NASAHQ that need to go. Not at the top, but close to it.After seeing Pinky Nelson today on B.O’s plane, I knew we were sunk. He is a total idiot when it comes to Space spending. Hubbles successor will be an untested mess. All that happened today was a bunch of Dems got some money to save jobs in their districts to get reelected. It’ll be a few more years of wasted money at NASA on the wrong projects. NASA will stay but will get nothing done until the govt management changes once again.

Well the 8.2 million Americans that have lost their job on your watch thank you for cutting their income tax to ZERO!

DSchoen on April 15, 2010 at 10:48 PM

As long as most Americans think that the IRS/income tax is OK, but that they shouldn’t get too much stolen from them before they even have a chance to spend it we will have no solid basis for complaining about unfair taxes.

Rather like saying that it’s OK to have your home burglarized twice a year, but, whoaaaa, now…not any more than that!!!

The eternal campaign of B. Obama is pathetic really. He reminds me of an insecure junior high school kid who always runs for class president because he seeks constant approval. Even though he is a snotty wimp (in mom jeans), who no one really wants to hang out with, they all clap and vote for him because he gives out packs of gum as they enter the gymlunchatorium. Since he is clueless about how to socialize or actually lead, he just keeps on with the campaign shtick seeking any kind of approval he can get. And he keeps on handing out gum. So incredibly sad – for America.

Inanemergencydial on April 16, 2010 at 12:45 AM

I hate to break it to you, but ‘conserving’ the union of any nation means utterly squashing attempts at armed revolt.

Once the rule of law is replaced with the rule of lead, we will be racing down one of the slipperiest slopes that there is.

The likely outcomes from another CW are pretty d**n grim:

1. Revolters trounced, backlash soon results in left-wing statism.

2. Stalemate between rebels and loyalists that leaves the USA a shattered ruin from constant warfare.

3a. Rebels ‘win’ a small territory and are consequently blockaded/sanctioned into withering on the vine, with loyalist invasion and iron-fisted rule following in the reunified nation.

3b. Rebels win enough land to set up a separate ‘nation’ and promptly run smack-dab into the same problems as the early days of the Articles of Confederation. Very real possibility of further breakup/Balkanization as the former rebels take their balls and ‘go home’ over various disagreements.

4. Revolters win everything, or nearly everything. ‘Victory’ turns to disaster as various armed factions attempt to carve off their own territory (ie; the Northwest Territory movement or the more organized street gangs). The new government is unable to prevent at least some of them from succeeding due to limited resources.

5. Foreign powers seize critical resources and locations in the chaos, or overwhelm the weakened winner, turning the US into a puppet nation.

Very, VERY simply put…the ‘big man’ on the block and his armed cohorts are about all that keep everybody from wanting to declare their own little fiefdom. If somebody demonstrates the will and ability to knock him down and declare that now they’re the boss, you’ll have others wanting to do the exact same thing.

But the scales of challenge will vary. Some will want to replace the new boss entirely. Less-ambitious and/or smarter-thinking types may just want to declare their ‘house’ (think city or state) independent of the ‘block’ (however big that is at the time).

Now note that I didn’t say those successes would necessarily be permanent, but the damage to national security would last for generations.

Allow me to bridge the last two posts….Before Jefferson et al were able to craft this nation, they first were able to educate them to some degree on the notions of true Liberal Democracy. At that point in time, most of those in America were her specifically looking for those benefits. Today we have had at least three generations indoctrinated into the European thought process of looking to Government for direction and approval. Before a CC could possibly reverse the damage already done, the voting populace needs to be shown the conditioning they’ve been put through. As Machiavelli would say, civic virtue must be restored.

“Use the Biden Gambit. Write VP Biden. Ask him to declare BHO unable to perform the duties of President. We know BHO is a disastrous President, who wants to destroy America as we know it. BHO thrives when he fights Americans on the Right, and soon, Americans in the Center-Left to Center. Ipso facto – he can not carry out his oath of office.
The Constitution (remember that, champ?) has Amendment XXV, Section 4.
 Biden takes over as President.
Yes, he’s a gaffe prone numbskull. But Biden does not want to actively harm America. More acceptable, and especially, more Constitutional.”

I was saying that myself yesterday. Its a cold cival war . Honestly I was thinking of Gettysburg and troops in the woods and so on as I drove through Maryland backroads yesterday. No reason. Just thought this is all but people taking sides and drawing lines. We’re doing it peacefully thus far. using radio and internet. Well you can bet they’ll target that. Its our most efficient set of tools.
On the postive side too are people meeting like-people at the rallies, freindships being made and so on. I say keep it growing.

As far as the NASA stuff goes, O has taken a blind slap on some bad advice as far as changing the program priorities. Lets face it, even if he was good at something as a leader, he cant be good at everything and when it comes to NASA he sucks at it. All he did was throw more money into it for re-election fuel to his Dem buddies. Again seeing Pinky Nelson walk off that plane told me he was taking a blind slap at this issue making a crucial decision over a plane ride. His stating the Shuttle decision was made 6 years ago and not 6 months ago is right and the fleet is aged, but also other decisions were made 6 years ago which he just negated. He wants it both ways and honestly he’s taken 6 billion dollars and just just thrown is out there to satisfy Dem needs. Sure jobs will stay around we hope, but again the big picture is screwed up. Its just careless, plain and simple.

No, you are not alone. This guy is a pure nutcase. I hope we can make it until the Nov elections. Then, I hope we can make it until the new congress is sworn in.

The Democrats may be at their most dangerous as a party the day after they find they have lost congress, but then realize they have a little over two months left in office before the Pubs are sworn in. Two months in office with nothing to lose.

JellyToast on April 16, 2010 at 7:03 AM

Stuff like this makes me wonder if he even plans on running in 2012… how can you repeatedly mock Americans and expect to win an election?

BPD on April 15, 2010 at 8:39 PM

You can if you get the 50% of “zero liability voters” to vote in the next election. Their plan is to get more people on the entitlement roles so they never want to get off. Unfortunately there are a lot of scared people who want BIG Daddy government to care for them.

Someone put me some knowledge, yesterday, about the “Obama Tax Cuts”

They aren’t tax cuts at all.

The first was the Withholding Tax Cut scam.. Another was the one-time sales tax deduction on a New Car.. Another was a tax credit for insulating your house, (you have to SPEND $1500 to get $1500)..

And, on it went.. They’re all targeted tax credits and deductions, and for the most part, one-time deals affecting relatively few Americans, and requiring that you spend money to get some money back.

There’s no Marginal Tax Cuts anywhere for anyone.

Your “thanks” from the American people are coming, Barry.

Be careful what you wish for.

AZCoyote on April 16, 2010 at 7:15 AM

U r right…….Lame Duck Congress and a vengeful President….not a good combination.

BTW, let’s not assume Conservatves retake Congress…..WORK to make it happen and Let the Imam take care of finishing himself off politcally.

PappyD61 on April 16, 2010 at 7:20 AM

Obama is a closet tea partier. He is just putting up a front so his friends won’t make fun of him. He has a secret to keep.

Think about it. The tea party movement is more sucessful than any comminity he has ever organized. He is jealous.

percysunshine on April 15, 2010 at 8:50 PM

Perked up my groggy morning coffe, percy. That is a brilliant comment right there.

More of that Obama “humility”

If there were three people who fell off your boat — Obama, John Edwards, and Jesse Jackson — but you could only save one, which one would you save?

TXUS on April 15, 2010 at 8:48 PM

I think that’s one reason why I was not destined to get a Newfoundland dog. Those suckers can pull a boat with a whole family in it, just by pulling on a rope. Or a 400-lb. dude that looks like a cue ball, and manage to bring it to the edge of a lake. Google Penn Ohio Newfoundland Club of America.

Now, because I have a Great Pyrenees, I doubt that they’d make it to the boat at all.

Especially if they wear squirrel costumes./snark

ProudPalinFan on April 16, 2010 at 7:32 AM

“I have been amused a little over the past couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes, taxes,” Obama said.

I’ve never taken well to being laughed at and I particularly don’t like this current self-righteous, holier-than-thou idiot who is laughing at me.

I intend to do everything I can to ensure we have the last laugh come November and 2012.

Rod

Rod on April 16, 2010 at 7:39 AM

Let him laugh. He’s going to face a reckoning and it won’t be pretty.

zoyclem on April 16, 2010 at 7:45 AM

Which reminds me, anyone watching the Starz ‘Spartacus’ series? Good stuff. Just watched the season finale. Interesting plot twists all through the series, though a bit graphic for many, probably.

Too bad the lead actor has cancer and they’re probably not going to do any more filming.

Midas on April 16, 2010 at 7:49 AM

A year ago BO and the lame street media would not even acknowledge the movement. Now, he ridicules it. After November, he will begin to conduct a full assault against it.

BO: We. Are. Not. Going. Away.

He’s an interesting political fellow. Attacking the teaparties in such an arrogant way truly was a bonehead political move.

He just added to the ranks of teaparties, without a doubt.

My impression is that most people don’t want more taxation, but see it coming down the road. More important, most people are enraged with the unilateral, I won, out-of-control spending on ridiculous things.

BuckeyeSam on April 16, 2010 at 8:15 AM

El Paso’s Tea Party was more than 4000 strong! I never thought I’d see a crowd like that here!

Thank you for what exactly, O? The president is a hateful, arrogant, vengeful pos.

Oh, and Geraldo is an idiot (but I think we already knew that).

cibolo on April 16, 2010 at 8:22 AM

“I’d like to register my son for soccer”.

“Fine, do you have his long form birth certificate”.

“No, but I do have this birth announcement. And I’m going to release a copy of his Certification of Live Birth to a far left website”.

Of course he uses a sexual epithet to dismiss American patriots who are aware of the consequences of huge deficits. Special rules for Obama throughout. What did you expect?

Basilsbest on April 16, 2010 at 8:28 AM

Ok. Would those of you pushing for a Constitutional convention explain it to me? My current view is that there is nothing wrong with the Constitution other than the fact that our electged officials and the courts are ignoring it. If you amend it, they’ll just ignore it harder.

No, it’s not only you:

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today authored by France’s Directorate-General for External Security (DGSE) and recently “obtained” by the FSB shockingly quotes French President Nicolas Sarkozy as stating that President Barack Obama is “a dangerous[ly] aliéné”, which translates into his, Obama, being a “mad lunatic”, or in the American vernacular, “insane”.

Akzed on April 16, 2010 at 8:41 AM

You would have to be a brainwashed lemming with a single digit IQ to believe one word this lying buffoon says. We will lose our country as it is because of one word…..ignorance.
