New Live Action video uncovers more manipulative counseling at Planned Parenthood

posted at 9:30 am on April 13, 2010 by Cassy Fiano

Live Action has debuted their second video in The Rosa Acuna Project, designed to show how Planned Parenthood uses manipulative counseling and lies to push teenage girls into getting abortions. This video, which takes place in Milwaukee, WI, is horrifying.

The lies told by the counselor are flagrant and and reprehensible. A girl goes in wanting to get information and is given nothing but lies. And why? Because the Planned Parenthood counselor isn’t a counselor at all, but a salesperson with goods to sell. And those goods are the murders of unborn children, even if it is at the expense of a frightened, confused young girl looking to find help.

The counselor was told that the teen was between six and eight weeks pregnant. When asked if there is a baby, she is told that there is only “fetal matter… no arms, no legs, no heart, no head, no brains”. This is a blatant lie.

At six weeks, there is already a heartbeat and a head. Muscles and skeletal structure are beginning to form. At seven weeks, the arms and legs are beginning to form, and both hemispheres of the brain have become more developed. At eight weeks, the baby has fingers and toes. Nerve cells in the brain are starting to branch out and connect with each other.

But according to the Planned Parenthood counselor, all of this is non-existent. All that exists is “fetal matter”.

The counselor even goes so far as to try to talk the teen out of adoption, calling all of the aborted children “burdens”. The counselor clearly was making the case that, if not for abortion, we would have millions of unwanted children, presumably with no homes. Of course, as Live Action points out in the video, there are far more couples seeking babies to adopt than children who actually get adopted.

Like I said, Planned Parenthood doesn’t have counselors. They have salespeople. Notice how this woman uses a technique you might recognize if you’ve ever bought a vehicle from a dealership, ever. It’s the “buy it now, because this offer won’t be available tomorrow!” technique. The salesperson tries to rush you into doing it right away, because they know you’re less likely to make the deal if you wait until later. It’s awful when you consider that this is someone who is supposed to be helping girls make the best decision for them. They’re going to Planned Parenthood scared, confused, angry maybe… and they’re being manipulated and taken advantage of. Planned Parenthood receives millions in taxpayer funding, and yet they still operate on an abortion-first basis out of greed and bloodlust.

This is not only unethical. It’s illegal. As Live Action points out,

Wisconsin law requires women to receive medically accurate information before obtaining an abortion. The America Medical Association indicates in its Code of Ethics that “the physician’s obligation is to present the medical facts accurately to the patient.”

Lila Rose, UCLA student and president of Live Action, says the new footage further confirms the deceptive and manipulative practices of Planned Parenthood: “Planned Parenthood has an abortion-first mentality that is driven both by ideology and the desire for money,” says Rose. “Since women will often choose against abortion if they learn the scientific facts about the unborn child inside the womb, Planned Parenthood distorts basic facts in an attempt to perform more abortions.”

And this isn’t the first time Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin has shown a fondness towards breaking the law. Just last February they were caught in another of Live Action’s undercover stings covering up the sexual abuse of a minor.

I say this every time Live Action comes out with another of their undercover investigations of Planned Parenthood. This is an evil organization. They manipulate young girls, they peddle in eugenics, they cover up the sexual abuse of minors, and they do it all for blood and money, and all with taxpayer subsidies. Thank God for the work of Live Action and Lila Rose, for uncovering the evil and wickedness of this bloodthirsty organization.

What a big frickin’ surprise

blatantblue on April 13, 2010 at 9:34 AM

Nothing about PP shocks me anymore. They’re an evil organization, but I think they could literally kill someone (outside the womb) and get away with it at this point. It’s beyond disturbing. My hope is that more and more people in mainstream America start to wake up to the fact that PP is not some beneveolent organization.

Vera on April 13, 2010 at 9:36 AM

Here’s hoping they keep up the good work.

“the physician’s obligation is to present the medical facts accurately to the patient.”

As you stated, this was a salesperson, not a physician. Perhaps those providing such “help” to those seeking it should be physicians.

Parenthood receives millions in taxpayer funding, and yet they still operate on an abortion-first basis out of greed and bloodlust.

Abortion first? What do they offer other than abortion?

Vera on April 13, 2010 at 9:36 AM

Word.

Can’t pass up the few hundred bucks they can make off of an abortion.

My favorite argument from the pro-choicers is the whole:

“Oh, women don’t suffer mental issues later on! They’re fine!”

To say that women don’t suffer negative mental side effects, immediately or later on, is total BS.

How could they NOT?
You had a life ripped out of you.
What do you think about when you finally have a baby that isn’t aborted? When you hold your first born in your arms do you think about the first life you had inside of you?

When it’s approximate birthday rolls around every year, do you think about it?

I have a hard time believing that most women aren’t at least, partially, eaten alive inside by what they’ve done.

If only the producers of these videos can somehow blame W they could win a Pulitzer!

Hurricanes on April 13, 2010 at 9:40 AM

It’s not exactly rocket science to figure out PP’s agenda. I could almost accept public funding for them, even with their obvious abortion exclusive mission — IF they were required to uphold professional medical and counseling standards, and if those standards were rigorously enforced. But nothing of the kind takes place now and I seriously doubt that it ever will.

First of all, no one is saying that a young woman facing an unplanned pregnancy has to raise the child. There’s this thing called adoption that the PP salesperson dismisses as a non-starter.

Further, the PP salesperson fails to adequately describe parenting, instead focusing only on the negatives. Maybe you like hearing only one side of a story, but I’d like to hear more than just the negatives of an issue when making a life or death decision.

Many years ago my 17 year old daughter and her then boyfriend went behind our back and received an abortion. We found out about the aborting of our first grandson 4 years after the fact from one of her friends. She will not talk with us about it. Since that time my daughter has attempted suicide twice, that we know of, is on major antidepressants and has trouble with any and all relationships. Her boyfriend at the time is an ex-cop, fired from two of his job for alcoholism. He is divorced for a third time. No one can tell me abortion does not wreak havoc on peoples lives. These two young people had great future lives in front of them but a school counselor led them down the wrong path.

I couldn’t help but notice also the not-so-subtle pressure to decide quickly.

ProfessorMiao on April 13, 2010 at 10:22 AM

Time changes the nature of the decision.

The PP counselor did mention adoption and keeping the baby as options. There were several points where we heard the PP response w/o the question. It would be helpful to know what question she was responding to.

Can’t pro life organizations set up a similar number of counseling centers? It seems like there would be a lot of donations from couples wanting to adopt as well as others who want to reduce the number of abortions.

dedalus on April 13, 2010 at 10:36 AM

Yes, it turns stomachs; it can turn any mother’s stomach. I feel it right now. Pure maternal ticked off “Mama-Bear” instinct.

Hey I have a couple of illnesses right now; if I happened to get an unexpected pregnancy by some sort of miracle (we’re not old), I’d have a conga line of doctors going after Mr. PPF and me. What would I do? Listen to aaallll of them, have fun looking at Mr. PPF’s “another one?” face and I’d go for it. Guys that are pro-life do not have the capability nor sense of how does it feel.

Like I’ve written before: I am ready for a baby in a basket outside my door. I am set up and good to go; just assemble the crib, buy diapers, wipes and formula.

That beyatch in PP does not know what she’s talking about. If a teenager didn’t get Health classes and got the “preggo talk”, she cannot be THAT clueless.

ProudPalinFan on April 13, 2010 at 10:37 AM

PP is all about information, they’re all about informed consent. That’s why they keep trying to shut down crisis pregnancy centers around the country that dare to give women and girls the other side of the story. That’s why they keep trying to get ultrasounds “for other than medical uses” banned across the country.

Just to add information for Chekote. We have two daughters and we talked with both of them at the age of 13 about what should happen if they would get pregnant outside of marriage. We asked them to come to us and if they were not ready for children because of college or what ever reason we would raise the child as our own or as a grandchild of help them with adoption if that was the choice. We told them adoption was our second choice and would sadden us but we would respect their wishes. They both knew our attitude toward abortion and they both had ways out without aborting a child.

Absolutely correct! This is just one example, there are many more national and local organizations that do the same thing.

And they provide (or refer too) many of the exact things the woman in the video was talking about. They have parenting classes, many have “stores” where pregnant women and new mothers can buy car seats, diapers, cribs, etc with “money” that they get from attending parenting classes, etc.

They are all over the country and in several states. They receive ZERO government funding, don’t charge for their services and are staffed almost 100% by volunteers. Of course, PP and NARAL are fighting in state legislatures to shut them down.

Or, are those things a-okay in your book?

Monkeytoe on April 13, 2010 at 11:08 AM

Thank you, Dee2008. I have only written this story a few times and I am used to these types of reactions to it. I will add to this now because it was not the start of the journey. My girlfriend, now my wife of 37 years had only known each other a short time. I was 24 and she was 18 when she got pregnant. At the time abortion was illegal. We talked about her pregnancy, now I would say ours, and she decided, or should I say I, that she should have an abortion. The closest place was Detroit, about a 6 hr. drive. The abortion was set up at 2am. We were told were the house, that preformed the abortion was and how to enter the house. On the drive, with our friends, we drank beer and smoked a few joints. After arriving, we parked in a very depressed area and started to exit the car. Out of the bushes came a young man, dressed in white, that told us the abortion house had been raided and we must go home and set up another appointment. We partied all the way home and two days later I called to set up another appointment. They told me they had not been raided and I would need another $600.00 because we had missed our appointment. I did not have it and could not get the extra money. Whether a scam or not I do not know. What I do know is that young man in white saved my daughters life and we have had a good marriage for 37 years. We have 4 children and 9 grandchildren because of that man dressed in white.

Thank you. I was a long and hard road and still is but well worth the work because love grows every day between my wife and I. That was the first time an angel (yes, I think that) has help us.

Grayzel on April 13, 2010 at 11:19 AM

I find it interesting that they use the phrase “fetal matter” to describe an unborn baby.

The similarity of this term to “fecal matter” is probably not coincidental.

Whether this is because they are trying to influence a woman to subconsciously associate her baby with feces, or because this phrase truly represents their feelings about the unborn, is open to debate.

leereyno on April 13, 2010 at 11:20 AM

Rach, officially the federal funding goes towards contraception and other services. Of course, it’s just a shell game on paper, but it allows them to say that they aren’t receiving federal funds to cover abortion.

Why are progressives so intent on selling ancient pagan ritual?

Inanemergencydial on April 13, 2010 at 10:28 AM

Progressive = code for regressive.

Debauchary, wanton murder of children, all for the glory of youth, enjoyment, and ease. Leftists are just the modern edition of ancient paganism.

Grayzel on April 13, 2010 at 11:08 AM

This single paragraph moved me to tears, and I thank God profoundly for that man in white. I pray for even more blessings on you and yours.

Rhetoric like this is so counterproductive.

In 2012, we will need a president who has the rhetoric and the record to back it up who will protect the unborn.

The problem with places like this is that they don’t offer the same kinds of services PP does. PP is more than an abortion provider. They do yearly exams, testing and offer contraceptives, all for less than most clinics, and women actually get treated by women.

I have as much disrespect for PP when it comes to abortion as the next person here, but we could really use a better alternative.

Esthier on April 13, 2010 at 11:44 AM

Was the counselor on commission or something?

Devils Advocate here: If the girl is actually intending to get the abortion, and is not persuadable otherwise, it is advisable to make the appointment as soon as possible. Time can get away from her, and she could end up too far along to get it done the cheap way. Sometimes you are further along than you think you are by the time you find you are pregnant.

But really, think of why you are doing this. If you don’t want the baby, don’t sleep with the daddy. You can always find a guy with comparable skill in the sack whose kid you’d be happy to have.

“Oh, women don’t suffer mental issues later on! They’re fine!”

To say that women don’t suffer negative mental side effects, immediately or later on, is total BS.

How could they NOT?

blatantblue on April 13, 2010 at 9:40 AM

Here’s an idea for ya. You could actually try talking to women who have had abortions who don’t agree with your views. The women who I have talked about their abortions have been glad about their decisions and certainly have not felt any of the guilt that you would like for them to have. I presume that if I talked to anti-abortion women who have had abortions that I’d get different results. If you think you should guilty, it’s no surprise if you feel guilty.

Esthier on April 13, 2010 at 11:44 AM

Agreed. PP’s big draw is really their gyno clinics. Choosing an OB/GYN is a big decision, and one a woman not ready to think about children doesn’t really want to make right away. If it weren’t for the fact that much of pro-life opposition to PP also opposed birth control, I’d call for an alternative gyno clinic for young women that dispenses birth control, does PAP smears, etc. And instead of focusing on keeping abortion legal, would focus on transitioning women to OB/GYN options that are right for them when the time comes.

Sekhmet on April 13, 2010 at 11:51 AM

An interesting statement. Let us expand on it. Is their a psychiatric term for a person who does not feel guilt? Could the women you talked to be in denial? If a person robs a bank and feels no quilt does that justify the act?

awwww. Now you’ve gone and made me all weepy. Thanks.

BTW, I assume you’re familiar with Mark 16:5 (but just in case).

29Victor on April 13, 2010 at 11:57 AM

Why is it that when a scientist opines on Gore Bull Warning, if he has ever taken a dime from any foundation that has ever received even a cent of funding from a company that holds any fossil-fuel assets at all, he’s a “shill for Big Oil”, but these counselors aren’t “shills for Big Abortion”?

Esthier on April 13, 2010 at 11:44 AM

I don’t believe that most crisis pregnancy centers do yearly exams, but they do do “testing” (I assume you men pregnancy and/or STD testing) and they are usually staffed 100% by women.

29Victor on April 13, 2010 at 12:02 PM

BTW, I assume you’re familiar with Mark 16:5 (but just in case)….29Victor

At the time these things I wrote about happened to us I was a hard core atheist. It took almost 15 years before I could put it in perspective. Yes, I know Mark 16:5. I have had a forced retirement, (contractor) because not much contracting going on so I am currently studying to be a Messianic Rabbi because of the experiences that have blessed my life.

Grayzel on April 13, 2010 at 12:03 PM

Oh, crisis pregnancy centers also offer parenting classes, post-abortive and post-miscarriage counseling and more and more are offering ultrasounds, and all for FREE (can’t beat that price).

I’m not sure what else a “better alternative” would offer, and I’m not at all sure who would pay for it.

Go and check one out, you might be surprised.

I know a few women who have had abortions. They all carry a heavey load.

One whom I hadn’t seen in about fours years called me one evening in despair and anguish over having had an abortion many years earlier.

Maybe some are so deceived about the content of their womb that abortion does not bother them. I have not met any.
