AP discovers that black tea party members exist

posted at 7:10 pm on April 6, 2010 by Allahpundit

Actually, the headline is “Black conservative tea party backers take heat,” which is a considerably more important angle. One purpose of the endless racial demagoguery of the right by the Frank Riches of the world is, of course, to make life hard for minorities who break with leftist orthodoxy. They’d never admit that, which is understandable, but they’re also rarely ever called on it, which isn’t. For all the media navel-gazing these days about how political rhetoric mainstreams hostility, the “race traitor” accusation that’s almost universally experienced by minority conservatives I know and that’s implicit in any grotesque caricature of tea partiers as some sort of neo-Klan rarely gets attention outside of right-wing media. And no wonder: It’s a fabulously effective form of intimidation.

They’ve been called Oreos, traitors and Uncle Toms, and are used to having to defend their values. Now black conservatives are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white tea party movement — and for having the audacity to oppose the policies of the nation’s first black president.

“I’ve been told I hate myself. I’ve been called an Uncle Tom. I’ve been told I’m a spook at the door,” said Timothy F. Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a group of black conservatives who support free market principles and limited government…

Since Obama’s election, Webb said some black conservatives have even resorted to hiding their political views.

“I know of people who would play the (liberal) role publicly, but have their private opinions,” he said. “They don’t agree with the policy but they have to work, live and exist in the community … Why can’t we speak openly and honestly if we disagree?”

Why can’t you speak openly? Because the New York Times op-ed page is telling its readers that you’re complicit in a new Kristallnacht. Be grateful you can walk down the street without being harassed by the Forces of Tolerance.

Follow the link up top for a surreal scene in which a black tea-party candidate cleans up in donations at a bar where the Confederate flag is mounted on the wall. Here’s a new clip from Zo sharing some fan mail he received recently expressing “appreciation” for his ideological diversity.

Grew up in the Old South. I contend the “unrest” c. 1956 was fomented by the Democrats.

“Jim Crow” segregation was dying. Ordinary economics was the cause. Folks with money wanted goods. Folks with goods wanted money. White folks wanted goods after a voluntary deprivation for WWII. Black folks wanted goods after a voluntary deprivation for WWII. The United States Of America was One Nation as never before.

The Democrat legion were lost as KKK no longer had White support. Indeed, our neighbors, naturally, became friends. A bit of help made life better for everyone. Cooperation was a useful concept.

The “Freedom Riders” agitated and produced anger, or attempted to, from Richmond to Atlanta. It was all based from DC. Finally, in Birmingham, AL did they get the legal response of arrests. They then had to go to Mississippi to formant the desired “violence”

“I’m a Tar Heel born, and a Tar Heel bred, and when I die, I’ll be a Tar heel Dead.” says the UNC Chapel Hill fight song.

No f’n way I’ll be a Tar Heel enslaved.

There is now apparently a new way to attack TEA Party types. My friend and I Stand For Freedom at a busy intersection twice a week. By accident of birth, we are both white. Last night a white guy drove by and called us the N word. We looked at one another in amazement. From our signs, there is no doubt we are against Obama’s policies, so why label us with that slur. To incite hatred? Who knows. Didn’t his mother teach him better manners?

Exactly, MNHawk. The pink left thinks that people born with a a drop of blood from “Africa” are supposed to embrace liberalism, or they are (pick a racist epithet and plug in here). They have convinced many of their fellow travelers who are black that this is true.

Racists.

You mean to say there are some black folks that actually think excessive taxation and control by the Government results in enslavement of the people? Whodathunkit? One would think black folks would be hyper-sensitive to ANY form of enslavement.

Hey, that’s Reunion Tower in the background of the headline picture with the pretty lady.

Being a “traitor to your race”, isn’t that from the Jim Crow era? Maybe Frank Rich should change his name to Bull Connor.

Ward Cleaver on April 7, 2010 at 10:34 AM

If it isn’t about race for liberals, then they have to argue their case on its own merits… and they can’t! Don’t worry, Zo, we’ve got your back. We love you for your ideology.

“The liberals want to push us into violence”. They should be careful what they wish for. Bringing violence to my street and attacking my neighbors and buddies would not work out well for them, Guaranteed.
