Tee hee: Obama mocks media for touting dismal ObamaCare polls
posted at 6:51 pm on April 1, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via the Right Scoop, this is as snarky as I’ve ever seen him; obviously, America’s cool reception to his world-beating boondoggle has hit a nerve. Forget the fact that if there’d been a huge spike in support, he and his lackeys would be on TV 15 times a day talking it up. That’s just politics. Instead, start with the fact that no less than Bill Clinton famously predicted that The One’s numbers would leap 10 points “the minute health care reform passed.” The actual result? The Democrats’ favorable rating is now at the lowest level recorded by Gallup since they started polling the question in 1992. At 41 percent, they’re actually a point lower than the GOP, whose brand has been in the toilet for a good five years now. No wonder vulnerable Democrats don’t want to talk about health care with their constituents during the recess.
But that, too, is just politics. Instead, savor the inanity of the situation. Here’s The One goofing on people for worrying about O-Care’s popularity — at a rally he’s been forced to hold to sell O-Care to the public. Not a one-off rally, either: He’s held a bunch already since the bill passed and will hold many more in the months ahead. If he were confident about the glories of our new health-care system revealing themselves in time, he wouldn’t need a perpetual campaign to spin it. As it is, looks like he’s taking the early numbers even more seriously than we are. But it’s even more absurd than that: As you’ll see, mere moments before he laughs at people for expecting an instant rebound in the polls, he mocks the GOP over the fact that O-Care … hasn’t instantly wrecked the economy. Why a bill that doesn’t kick in until 2014 would be an instant killer is beyond me; the basic GOP argument has always been that O-Care sets us irreversibly on a path to bigger government and welfare-state dependency and is likely to culminate in single-payer. The sky is indeed falling, but it’ll be a while before it lands. But then, that’s vintage Obama. Why address your opponents’ actual arguments when you can torch a straw man instead?
I’ll leave you with a piece from the Wash Times about how some economists are already worried that O-Care will cripple an economic recovery. Sample quote: “Businesses will probably remain cautious when it comes to hiring… They now face the certainty that their labor costs will increase in coming years.” Okay — but they haven’t faced increased costs this week, have they? Tee hee!

Yes, when Barry went to law school he reportedly took along audio tapes of Rev. Wright’s sermons (you know, the ones he never heard) because he thought Wright was such an effective speaker. It’s Wright’s style (toned down some for the evil whiteys in the audience) that Obama is mimicking.
As for the POS healthcare law, the DNC is running commercials here in AZ thanking various Dim congress-idiots for voting for it, and listing all the great “benefits” that Arizonans are going to reap from this great new boondoggle. It appears that the Dim strategy is to inundate people with their talking points in the hope that if they repeat a lie enough times (e.g., Obama is a brilliant Constitutional scholar, and a moderate, and a Christian), people will eventually come to believe it.
AZCoyote on April 1, 2010 at 7:33 PM
Not only does he flip flop, but does he ever think what he says in a single speech. First he pokes fun at Republicans because they are still complaining about the new law. So, he is still out trying to sell what was already passed. He laughs about the “sky is falling” complaint and says he has checked and the sky isn’t falling. Then he tells people to wait for the good parts cause it has only been a week since the bill passed. At least he has finally admitted it was a Two Trillion Dollar bill, he said it.
Don’t you love how he can never get an old saying right? This time it was “fox guarding the chicken coop”. But, of course, I could never get foreign sayings correct, so why should I point this out.

Watching and listening to Hope-a-Dope is something that could only happen to me if I were forcibly subjected to the same “treatment” prescribed for Malcolm McDowell’s character in “A Clockwork Orange.” Only in the treatment video, it’d be the American People as a whole being raped and brutalized to the tune of “Hail to the Chief” in the background.
Remember, as we have so recently witnessed, to donks “No” doesn’t really mean “no” if it stands between them and their desires.

It is a classic failure of military thinking. Making plans based on your underestimation of your enemy.

I watched the clip w/out the sound to see the non-verbs of the audience. Obviously some true believers having a great time trashing the evil ones. Some clearly bored..maybe even uncomfortable. Most polite, smiling and clapping at the right time.
I assume the ones they put behind him are the best they got. Young Democrats, Teacher’s Unions etc. I would think that most people know that trashing opponents should end with the campaign…but I am old fashioned.

Plenty of other countries in the world you can go to and not be subject to it.
If O-care takes place in its current form, in 2014 I will not live here anymore. The socialists can have this country, but I will not contribute a dime to it any longer.

What other explanation is there for Obama as president, Pelosi as speaker and Reid as majority leader? That didn’t happen by accident. Americans freely and willfully voted for these 3 and their merry band of thieves and liars in the house and senate. Obama? Maybe I can see that being a fluke, smart people getting caught up in the “make history” moment.

I’ll also say this, there are a lot more people engaged and watching what is taking place now than in any time in recent memory. Obama will have willing accomplices in major media, but they have little credibility with more than ever, and it just doesn’t carry the day anymore.
Hope you’re right. He’ll make some moves to the middle, but I hope people look beyond the decision itself and towards why these decisions are being made….what they are trying to cover up and what are their real plans for our future

The Americian people are not stupid. they are misinformed, asleep, uneducated in the world of government and politics. They have the mental ability to understand ALL the complex problems today. It is a failure of the leadership in this country to not inform the people. This is a feature of the elites rule not a bug. They want to “spin” things, to blur the truth. They employ the media to continue this “feature”
The GOP if it wants to have power again MUST leave this type of thinking and start to inform the people. They need to get away from sound bites and explain things to the people. Students that do not know fractions before they are taught them are not “stupid” they are simply not informed of fractions until then.
There is a major difference between being “stupid” and being misinformed, uninformed, asleep. To base ones strategy on the “stupidity” of the Americian people means you open yourself up to counterattack from your opponents who take the time to teach, inform and educate.
That is the answer to the dems policies and power. The GOP hasn’t done this since Reagan because they bought the BIG LIE of the dems that the Americian people are “stupid”.
Reagan understood that the people were not stupid. He took the time to explain economics, federalism, how socialists think etc and the people listend and learned and agreed with those teachings. so much so that 30 years later reagan still has an amazing following. something that bush, clinton nor Obama will ever have.

The evidence that i am right are the poll numbers. If the People were as stupid as the liberals think they are Obama would have 90% approval ratings.
“You can fool all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time.”
And the longer your “act” is on stage the less people you can fool. Tha tis why Obama’s is not able to “sell” his bills. The people that were fooled are seeing that he trying to fool them again. The longer he talks, the longer he is on stage the more people will “awake”

You’re right. Americans are not stupid. They were trusting. Gradually they are beginning to realize that in addition to working hard and taking care of their families and communities they have to ride herd on elected officials.
It was a mistake to trust, but we were comfortable. The Tea Party groups are a clear demonstration that citizens have realized that they must assume the responsibility of overseeing elected employees.
No. We’re not stupid. We were lazy. We’re bigger than this administration. They’ve pulled out the stops, and we’re doing the same.
Barf can gloat with the, “I won,” theme, but in the end WE win. He never won anything. Everything he has was given. We can take it away, too. We can take his toys away and send him screaming for MO’s skirts. No doubt, it’s one of his habits.

There are no red states or blue states…just the most polarizing president in American history. He has mocked his opponents since day one. He’s never understood that he needs to govern the country, not persuade a sector of it to vote for him. He will probably leave America more divided than it has been since the Civil War, and he might very well leave on the road to its greatest impoverishment since the Great Depression. Yeah, Obama will make history, all right.

But that doesn’t mean the country will soon be turnin’ red
Losin’s not for me
‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the polls by complainin’
Because I’m conscience free
Like the Constitution, they’ll just get the deep six from me

Same here. I love, absolutely love real American men. Women of my generation are supposed to despise them, but I always found these women to be rather senseless and ill-advised.
Having a bowing, cow-towing, metro-sexual, freaky-deaky, confused weirdo in the WH doesn’t make me comfortable about the safety of our country and its future.

An arrogant, petulant address that completely misses the mark. According to him, there is no such thing as substantive opposition or counter arguments.

I see Obama is back to debating his favorite opponent, Mr. Strawman. Name a single Republican this side of Ron Paul who called for the “complete deregulation of the health care industry” as he claims.
JamesB on April 1, 2010 at 7:57 PM
wow sure is funny what you can find out with that little “google” tool search engine. JamesB,you want to know which Republican member of congress called for the “complete deregulation of the health care industry” or do you want to just give it a wild guess?
I’ll wait for your response, this should be good

He’s such a jackass. Sorry, it just bothers me how dismissive he is of other arguments.

Obama speaks and thinks and acts like a dictator. Yep, he’s a dictator.

Anyone who could be persuaded positively on health care has done so… now the only direction left is negative.
The more he talks, the worst the impression gets.
ajacksonian on April 1, 2010 at 8:52 PM
well, not wanting to spoil the fun,it was the Tea Bag queen herself Michelle Bachmann(R)from Minnesota who did just that on Sept 23rd speaking in front of the Family Research Council, you know that’s the same whacked out group that’s run by Tony Perkins, the same guy that said today to NOT donate a single dime to the RNC. Not wanting to be “misinformed” like Rush said he was during the HC reform ass kicking, here is here exact quote:
Michelle Bachmann calls for deregualtion of health care industry
Michele Bachman, speaking at the Family Research Council conference in Washington, DC, has called for deregulation of the health insurance industry, saying that a lack of federal requirements for insurance companies would allow more choice for the consumer.
But Melinda Warner over at Media Matters notes that a deregulated insurance industry could deny coverage for any reason, including being a domestic violence survivor or an acne sufferer – or could pull coverage from existing customers without good reason.
Here’s the full quote and video from the horse’s mouth.
If we would remove this federal, uh, law that creates these private monopolies, then states would be competing with each other. So if you have very high level of mandates in one state, but a very low level of mandates in another, people would be able to buy an insurance policy from the state that had a very low level of mandates. In fact, some states may decide to have zero mandates, so you can sell whatever insurance policy you want.

Yeah, Barry, it’s only been a week. Just wait till the taxes kick in to fund this brilliant plan. Da peeps gonna love it then!

Ha!:
Yeah, I think you’re confusing Dr. Jack Cassell with Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel there, Rep. Grayson.
Rae on April 1, 2010 at 8:59 PM
Dude, I was thinking the same exact thing. It reminds me of my wife. She can have an entire argument with me where I don’t say a thing. She says my part and then she argues the point she just attributed to me. I love her dearly, but it’s the most insane thing I’ve ever seen. Obama does it to.
JohnInCA on April 1, 2010 at 9:00 PM
I hope every Republican running for a seat in November hammers the fact that Obama and their opponents spent more energy on trying to increase the poll numbers on a bill already signed into law, than the energy they exerted on trying to create new jobs.
That needs to be hammered over and over and over.

He’s a real Control Freak Man
Ruling in what he wants to be a vassal land
Making all his controlling plans
For everybody
Doesn’t listen to an opposing point of view
Control Freak man, ruling all he thinks is his purview
Control Freak Man, he had better listen
He don’t know with what he’s messin’
Knows already just what he wants to do
Doesn’t he seem more and more like Hitler and Mussolini to you?
He’s a real Control Freak Man
Ruling in what he wants to be a vassal held land
Making all his controlling plans
For everybody
He’s as blinded by his lust for power as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
He’s got such a God complex point of call
Control Freak Man can you even see America at all?
Knows already just what he wants to do
Doesn’t he seem more and more like Hitler and Mussolini to you?
He’s a real Control Freak Man
Ruling in what he wants to be a vassal land
Making all his controlling plans
For everybody
About Control Freak Man we should all worry
To destroy all America built he is in a hurry
If he controls everything his fascist way
It will be a forlorn day
Hes going to leave it all a mess
Anyone of sound mind must confess
He’s a real Control Freak Man
Ruling in what he wants to be a vassal land
Making all his controlling plans
For everybody

AP, the Big Dawg said O would get a 10 pt bounce when it passed LAST YEAR…he also began speaking about it in the past tense this year..
I have no doubt he was floored that O and Pelosi went ahead with it…
Big Dawg would never have rammed ahead against the will of the people, as witnessed by the fact that he didnt in 93.
ginaswo on April 1, 2010 at 9:06 PM
Of all of the lame objections to criticism, the lamest is surely: “the world didn’t end when…”. As if the end arrives immediately after a particular piece of legislation passes. A piece of legislation either increases or reduces freedoms. The passage of enough freedom reducing legislation means the end of the world as we know it. The health care reform just passed, eliminates freedoms. It moves the needle in the wrong direction.

I guess he’s not counting the what – $14billion – already being accounted for by major companies filing required disclosures with the SEC about costs hitting their earnings?
Yeah, bub – barely a week, and hardly an impact to be felt eh?

Clinton worship knows no ends. You can even read their minds?
Wow.
Hillary would have shoved her damned program down our throats if she could have, and she had no right in designing policy. She was a FLOTUS. She wasn’t elected by anyone. She had no constituents to whom she was responsible. Her constant meddling was an affront to the public. Like it or not, she was First Lady. Nothing more.
This Clinton fantasy goes beyond the pale. And if you’re pi$$ed off about Hill getting the shaft, take it up with Pelosi.
Dream on. They’re finished.
Cody1991 on April 1, 2010 at 9:26 PM
Obama can diss the polls (and the GOP) all he wants. But the fact is Obama is still campaigning – ONE YEAR AND COUNTING – for a healthcare bill that the majority of Americans flat-out reject. The more businesses and states that learn the true costs of Obamacare, the harder the sell.
TN Mom on April 1, 2010 at 9:28 PM
Good point Midas. How long will it take (if ever) for the MSM to ask him about that little drop in the bucket? And it’s write downs this year, less revenue and more medicaid next year. Ask Mr. Smug about that will ya? At least get the clown on record, for what it’s worth.

Boy do you guys need to be calibrated. You see it as $14B in losses to these companies.
The WH and Congress see it as $14B ObamaBucks, to be used by people who are still expecting to be saved by:

You can’t deny that, “After I signed the bill, I looked around . . . ” was funny.
Of course the country is screwed if we continue on this path.
But, that was red meat for his faithful. I can bear conceding that small point.
Pablo Snooze on April 1, 2010 at 9:54 PM
Well said. “The world didn’t end” stuff is a telltale sign of someone who is on very shaky ground. Just to illustrate the lunacy of that, just apply that line to any of the more significant atrocities that has happened in history. Just because it doesn’t end the world instantly hardly makes it a good thing.
It is saying absolutely nothing that supports or strengthens your position. I guess it is a good for a laugh if you’re a mindless drone already in his choir though.
