Dem congressman: If Guam gets too overpopulated, it might tip over

posted at 9:55 pm on March 31, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via Weasel Zippers, a clip that’s destined to be viral by tomorrow morning. Even so, go easy on him. Yes, he was an Iraq defeatist, and granted, he demagogued Joe Wilson’s outburst in the scummiest way imaginable, but he’s also a guy with a serious illness that affects his mind (“he regularly gets lost in thought in the middle of a discussion”). Although if that’s what’s going on here, a polite question for Madam Speaker arises: What’s he doing at these hearings instead of resting?

You may also remember Johnson as the man who beat Cynthia McKinney in the 2006 primary. All things considered, I think I still prefer him to her. Barely.

Perfect for the Democrat party. It’s an entrance requirement.

Hey,Mon – knock off the doob before the hearing.

fargo_pete on March 31, 2010 at 10:00 PM

I lived on Guam for about 2½ years. Great people and culture. Chamorros are very hospitable. Most people on Guam are very pro-military.

galvestonian on March 31, 2010 at 10:01 PM

A population of 180,000 on the top side, another 180,000 on the bottom side. Expansion!

Okay, so there’s ONE liberal in Congress who has a valid excuse.

What was his vote on Health Care?

BKeyser on March 31, 2010 at 10:05 PM

That is very sad. But he is at least aware of what he is speaking about. Which is way more than what Obama and the rest of the ratf**k dems knew about Hussein-Care.

He has a mental problem? and he is a voting member of congress? Now I’ve heard it all.

After all the bruhaha over succession when the president is determined to be incapacitated, there isn’t any requirement for competency for members of congress?

Doesn’t matter which side of the aisle, if a person is so unaware of the world around him (Guam tipping over!?!) how can they represent their constituants?

The main difference between liberal nutjobs and conservative nutjobs is that liberals elect theirs to public office.

The Admiral he is interviewing is Admiral Willard. He was my captain in the mid 90′s when I was stationed on the Abraham Lincoln CVN-72. Awesome individual, best CO I ever had, you can tell he’s trying not to piss his pants laughing during the hearing.

That is down right embarrassing. I am sure his constituents will continue to send him to Congress.

d1carter on March 31, 2010 at 10:17 PM

Kudos to Admiral Robert F. Willard for keeping a straight face and answering the question that Johnson was trying to ask (or, in retrospect, he probably wishes he asked). Willard now joins General Michael Walsh (of the Sen. Barbara Boxer “Ma’am” moment) as among our military officers deserving the “Maintaining Gallantry Under WTF Trying Circumstances” medal.

He doesn’t have a mental illness. The link says it’s Hepatitis C.

In an exclusive interview with the AJC, Johnson disclosed he has been battling hepatitis C, an incurable, blood-borne liver disease, for more than a decade.

He was officially declared free of the virus in January, but it has ravaged his liver, resulted in thyroid problems and other health issues, including depression, for which he’s also being treated. To keep the disease in remission, Johnson is going through an experimental treatment that he said has been the worst part so far.
