Palin to host first special on FNC. Special guest star: LL Cool J
posted at 4:06 pm on March 30, 2010 by Allahpundit
Karl suggests a title: “Hockey Mama Said Knock You Out.”
This is not an April Fool’s joke. Sarah Palin will take her first stab at television hosting when she fronts a new Fox News series, Real American Stories, premiering Thursday April 1 at 10pmET.
Guests for the first show include country singer Toby Keith, rapper/actor LL Cool J and Jack Welch. Get excited.
The show will “focus on a range of such stories including a Marine Medal of Honor recipient who gave his live to save his comrades.” But also there will be the celebrity guests – a very broad range of celebrity guests.
Airtime: 10 p.m. ET on Thursday in lieu of Greta. Frank Rich fans will be shocked to find the alleged Grand Dragon of the tea-party movement making chitchat with a hip-hop legend, but watch the clip below that one of our commenters dug up and posted in Headlines. He’s a self-made man, an entrepreneur, a military booster, and a guy prone to saying things like “Atlas cannot shrug.” They’ll get along famously. The more provocative interview is Toby Keith, who got caricatured after 9/11 as being a diehard Republican hawk but who opposed the Iraq war and had plenty of nice things to say about The One during the last campaign. I assume he’s soured on him since, or else … things could get awkward.
Oh — you’ll be pleased to know that Levi Johnston has a show in the works too, which the producer describes as “Jersey Shore on ice.” Says Michael Roston, shouldn’t that be “Jersey Shore on meth”?

That’s a qualifier. Often clearly means not always. Just because I flatter you by telling you I like your shirt doesn’t mean it’s untrue.
I never said I didn’t intend to use it. I used it and meant to use it. I just didn’t have in mind the definition you did, specifically because I didn’t view the poster who was called an @ss kisser as actually having been one. I was using the word the way I feel it applied to her.
I understand that it’s confusing and could have picked a word that would have made it unnecessary for me to explain myself (or maybe not – many people here will intentionally twist comments just because), but I was making a half-hearted attempt to defend someone from a needlessly mean spirited attack.
And since using that word, I’ve explained myself again and again, so you know exactly now what I meant when I first made that post and know that I wasn’t calling Mary insincere.

Oh yes, and it’s just as boring now as it was then. I have no patience for blowhards desperately seeking attention.

Wait, so you don’t like it when AP makes a sarcastic joke aimed at Rich but think it’s appropriate to make a joke along the same lines? How is this not completely hypocritical?

Can’t wait to see the show. I have always liked LL Cool J. He seems like a very cool guy. (ha, probably why he goes by LL Cool J…)
p.s. I got the joke about Sarah, and thought it was funny. ;0)
sarainitaly on March 30, 2010 at 8:24 PM
Funny you should mention Senator Byrd, while Allahpundit doesn’t when he’s making jokes about the klan. As for leftist assertions, it is that any conservative black is a traitor for abandoning their rightful place on the left, so they are Aunt Jemimas like Condi Rice. Here’s the formula:
Sarah Palin is the Grand Dragon of the KKK = funny
Condi Rice is an Aunt Jemima = funny
Why aren’t you laughing? Allahpundit has such a rapier wit.

I used to be a regular at LGF. One day I found myself banned for reasons unknown. I think I somehow got caught up in the “purge,” even though I had no idea what was going on. No big loss as I see that CJ has taken a sharp left turn and is in danger of driving off the cliff.

I stuck around for a couple more months, getting more and more uncomfortable. I left before I got banned. Hmmm…I still have my profile over there, unless he’s seen me over here and banned from afar. Which as paranoid as the man is, wouldn’t surprise me.

Late to this argument, but I gotta say: I’m as devoted a Palinista as any here, but I think some of y’all are overreacting. Snark is part of AP’s schtick, and it’s part of what makes him entertaining. There have certainly been plenty of other times when he has made some remark or another about the Cuda where this level of criticism would have been warranted more than it is here. We’ve just come off a week where the left has been manufacturing outrage over perceived “violence” by Palin and her followers; I think he’s just mocking that here.

Now llcoolj is beyotching that FOX used an old 2008 interview to pump up Palin’s show. Methinks the real reason is that FOX didn’t send him a residual check, which would make it all better.
victor82 on March 30, 2010 at 10:51 PM
My apologies, gang. That was over-the-top. Allah, if you would be so kind, please pull this. It was inappropriate. I know plenty of Christians who really do live their lives true to their beliefs. Jesus Christ, we DO NOT NEED ANOTHER CELEBRITY in the White House!!!
Then again, I’m not at all worried- Obama would wipe the floor with Palin in a debate. Not to mention, even as he dips below 50% he stomps Palin head to head in every poll out there. (thank God)

…THE DECISION BY FOX TO HIRE PALIN WAS A DUMB ONE…
When a football team doesn’t perform up to snuff fire the coach; When a student doesn’t do well on his finals, blame the teacher; when a movie star doesn’t get a role he/she covets, blame the agent, and when a photogenic person like Sarah Palin is hired by Fox, blame the folks who hired her.
Now why was the decision a dumb one?
1)Fox is losing viewership whenever Palin appears of Fox news for any reason–not true-it is always announced that Palin’s appearance are some of the highest rated programs in the last little while
2)Palin’s presence on Fox News is hurting other Fox programs. Not according to the NYT who say while Fox is dramatically increasing its viewership, CNN continues to plummet.
3)What is your definition of DUMB? Ill-informed, unintelligent, irrational: I have heard Roger Ailes described many ways but these adjectives don’t apply to him.
4)Alienating its audience. Not so far and if it ever did folks would just turn off their TV’s and not watch Palin, don’t you think?
Or ninjapirate are you just one of these types of people who if you had the power would set out to destroy Sarah Palin because of political reasons or that you simply don’t like her.
technopeasant on March 31, 2010 at 1:11 AM
Fox is losing viewership? Are you delusional?Have you read the viewership numbers? Try again…
sandee on March 31, 2010 at 1:16 AM
The Palin is supporting RINO’s is getting old my friends.
I know this is rehashing old history but one of my main complaints regarding the Couric interview was not that Palin was sub-par in that interview but that one interview was used by so many to brand Palin as an idiot or a moron, and unlike sports fans and the sporting fraternity realize that everyone has a bad day once in a while.
And now because Palin endorsed McCain we have this ludicrous assertion that she is now a RINO because she endorsed one RINO. We on our side should know better than to brand people like this. The Left are Fascists-we know that in the way they manipulate reality, but you folks on our side (which I presume most of you are) are just plain wrong to dub Palin a RINO over one endorsement. Accept it, give Palin a mulligan and move on.
Everyone is entitled to one mulligan, don’t you think?

technopeasant on March 31, 2010 at 1:21 AM
It is not that. reagan campaigned and supported many RINO’s in his day.
the Palin haters just thing they have a wedge issue to drive her base away from her. little do they know or understand who her base are. the McCain endorsement means nothing to her base.
unseen on March 31, 2010 at 1:30 AM
Fox hiring Palin imo is a nonissue so far. She’s not really been much of a factor on Fox yet I don’t think.
Fox’s numbers are up but that’s just because people are mad as hell and every other station sucks for news.
I hardly even see her on there. She was on Hannity or was it Greta’s show the other day and I had thought maybe she had left Fox because I never see her on there.
I know about the special but people like Morris, and Rove, and Parino, and Newt are on those shows all the time. Palin is hardly ever there.

I was first kind of pleased to see someone like LL do something with Palin. Then you find out its old footage. Then you find out LL doesnt seem to like it. I get the feeling he doesnt like Palin either.
And despite all that you heard in the old interview above about America, I bet he is an Obama fan. Im willing to bet he is if hes offended his interview is airing during Palin’s show. If LL is pro-Obama, then you can take his interview, and stuff in the dumpster. Obama is against everything LL said in the video.
